Nice bid pike are mad I love them

pikefisher1000 They really are , ....and they won't let go even when the net approaches them , .....year ago I've whitnessed someone having a good perch hooked on a spinner , ....during battling that fish on lighter perch gear a bigger pike hit that hooked perch, .......the angler carefully played both fish for several minutes and his fishing mate finally put both fish in the net , ...the pike was over 80 cms in length ! During the battle on that lighter gear the pike had all the time in the world to release it's prey and get away , but simply did not ! Maybe , they do not realise the danger of such situation , as they are solely focussed on overcoming their struggling prey ? Greetz , 61diemai

Wow that's so funny, I clearly remember seeing your video last year on the same situation! It so crazy how they just won't let go, it's like a reflex.

WorldWide Fishing Yeah , ......it quite often happens in that particular pond , ......rainbows are being stocked twice per year , so pike are just homing in on these stockers , right now they just do not respond to lures !

Nice one that was a huge meal for that Pike. I've had that happen here in the states when reeling in bluegill.

Midwest Fishing Show They can swallow prey up to 60% of their own body length and still survive , .......and they're real crazy sometimes , ...this is the third time within one or two years , that such would happen to my wife and myself fishing that praticular pond . Also often had pike bite off chumming baskets whilst reeling in , biting off Berkley floating trout dough or maggots and worms as bait for carp or tench , ...but same time steadily ignoring any kind of lures ! Thanks a lot for chiming in , .....greetings , Dieter

River Piker Thanks for chiming in , mate , .......obviously such frequently happens in that particular pond , last year such occured two times as well , ....trout are frequently stocked , so pike would surely prefer them over the ordinary roach , perch and bream . Right now I'm busy rigging some more extra large plastic shads and grubs for the oncoming autumn season , as I know , that there are some big pike holding in that pond(last year one of these snapped a young anglers light rod) , but it is also most heavily pressured , .......guess , that I need to offer some out-of-the -box lures to succeed ? Cheers , Dieter

Those trout water pike can be a bit tricky sometimes. The pike are so well fed and zoned in to those trout we've found even livebaits of other species get ignore by pike and taken by the big trout instead! lol. Good luck mate. Not always the easiest place but as you say, there's usually a really big one (or more) in there somewhere.
@61diemai9 жыл бұрын
River Piker Can't tell about livebaits , since it is illegal over here , .......even species like trout , carp , tench or eel must not be used even as deadbait , ........also bait-fishing is too boring to me , do not do it very often . So I'd rather stick to larger plastic shads resembling trout quite close to the real thing : kzbin.info/www/bejne/gISlgaSLqsqnpK8 Greetz , Dieter

Very Nice !! Awesome fishing there at that pond. Dieter, how are you working that dinner bell? just reeling it in or a pause and twitch? Thanks for sharing!
@61diemai9 жыл бұрын
Clay Littleriver Thanks a lot , Vic , ........the "DinnerBell" spoon may be retrieved steadily , but comes to real life , when doing variations like pausing , dropping and accelerating again , generally altering paces now and then , too . When the spoon drops and impacts on the bottom , most likely the hook would come to fall into the inside of the spoon with it's points pointing rearward , ...avoiding many bottom snags this way but sadly also sometimes fouling inside of the limiter "D" bend of the wire form , ......that's wat I had found out within years of use now . But still I frequently tie on this spoon model of mine , I'm having great confidence in it , ......it's big enough to attract pike but yet not too large for trout and perch . I''ve made larger pike versions , but never caught on these , they just do not swim as lively due to more weight or mass required to be moved . That pond the second largest of our fishing club , holds a lot of fish , but naturally is heavily pressured , so pike could surely tell, whether there's a "Rapala" or "Mann's" logo printed on a lure , LOL . In fall I'm gonna try my luck with large plastic grubs and shads , something , that most other anglers do not throw , gathered a few on local fleamarkets by now . Fishing ist very tough this spring , pike and even carp are reluctant , .....if not because of those stocker trout , we would surely have blanked many days . Greetz , Dieter
