I adopted a spayed bonded pair of sister rabbits from the shelter. They had just turned 6 months old. They were born in the shelter. Their mom and dad got rescued by the shelter. They had so much energy at beginning. I'm glad they mellowed out once they became adults. Their personalities remained the same. I did manage to get the more shy and easily scared rabbit out of her shell. She is super friendly now but is a daddy's girl, she adores my fiance. The other rabbit is more outgoing and adventurous. We have a very strong bond, she is often the first to come up to me. I'm an introvert and work from home. So I am home 90 percent of the time. I love interacting with them. They are my best friends.

It's so nice to see a new video from you! Those are all great questions that people should ask before they actually purchase a rabbit. I consider myself very lucky to have a vet who specializes in rabbits, she is also a french lop breeder. I probably wouldn't have rabbits if she wasn't a vet. I worked with her for 6 years and I still continue to volunteer/work for her when I have the extra time. It's hard to find a good vet that really knows about rabbits. Thanks so much for another great video!

Thanks for the video. And all the great advice. I wish I had all this advice when I got my first bunny years ago..FROM A PET STORE 😔 Ugh. But thank God he was healthy and lived 8 years. His name was Floppy. He was a broken orange Holland Lop. What a trooper he was. So patient with his human mom. Now I am contemplating starting all over again. We'll see.

Hello could someone please respond to this it’s important: I have two Holland lop mama bunnies that are both due In two days. Is it okay if they are in the same cage when they give birth? They are usually caged together, They are both inside and there is plenty of room in the cage. They both free roam most of the time. Whenever they aren’t we have them in a big room, I use a dog gate to corner a space in the room. It is plenty big. Would it be a problem to keep them both in there when they give birth? Or should I separate them? If I separate them one of the mamas would be in a smaller space.

Is it normal for my pregnant Holland lop doe to have squished soft poops in the carpets in her cage? She was already pregnant when I got her she should have babies this week.
@deblawson15752 жыл бұрын
Help .......My bunny gave birth, she is adopted and I had NO idea she was pregnant. She had 4 kit's two died at birth (she had the on a wire cage floor) the other two I got warmed up and into a nest. Both baby bunnies' were doing well (fat tummies and warm) and when I checked on them this morning (baby's are 4 days old the were cold and skinny in their nest box) I layed Mom down so she could/would feed them and baby did not get milk. A third one died and now it's just the 4th. Can you help me
@juliettechristine31722 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I absolutely love your videos your so experienced and knowledgeable I've learned a lot by just watching your fab bunny content. I've recently had a suprise litter of 9 baby bunnies and trying my best it was my and my bunnies first litter. Now babies are 5 days old. Unfortunately a few of them have tied yesterday 😞 I think this was to over heating as I checked for milk tummies twice a day and fed them if they weren't and they were always full. Also thinking they could have drown d in their own poop or something as when I found them they was loads and I tried everything to revive them but nothing worked. It's very sad but trying figure out what I did wrong as I researched so much into it when I found out my bunny was pregnant and felt like I was doing everything right up to this point. Now I'm at a stage were I'm second guessing myself about everything I'm doing and checking the nest box several hours a day and check temperature ect. Could you do a video dedicated on caring for newborns/ early stages of baby bunnies? This would be a huge help as I'm dying to know what your take is on some these matters and how you do it yourself. Sending lots of love to you and your beautiful lop family over there xx 🤗

I am having trouble examining my bunnies teeth when I try to look he starts freaking out and kicking. Any suggestions?
@HooksHollands3 жыл бұрын
Either wrapping him in a towel (like a bunny burrito) or having someone hold him for you can help tremendously. If I'm looking solo, I gently set the bunny's bottom on a table while my forearms and hands secure the bunny's side, head, and front legs. I slowly rock the bunny to about a 45 degree angle and use my thumbs to gently open the mouth. If they can't wiggle free, they usually hold still long enough for a short peek at the teeth.

I have to disagree with the age span.. I have a good feeling that my 4 year old Holland Lop can and will live 8 to 10 years…but I have no expectations.. just hopes and prayers… she’s my everything. Last thing I want to say real quick which is a bit off topic. My adult bunny enjoys SmallPetSelect’s pellets and I know you said it’s not great bc it contains sweetener like Molasses.. it may not be perfect but I’m sure it has some flavor. My bunny is healthy and happy with the pellets.. also when I got my baby bunny he had a small bit of red by one eye.. with a little bit of matted fur.. it kind of comes and goes… I’m not too concerned and if it looks more red some days I apply a warm wet washcloth… but it’s off and on…can you say anything to that? I have a vet appointment for him at the end of April to look at when we’re going to get him neutered…thanks again

When I neuter our two male bunnies will it fix all the aggression / hormonal behavior they have when 5-6 months of age?
@HooksHollands3 жыл бұрын
Can't guarantee how it will change their behavior, but in MOST cases, a lot of the hormonal behavior eventually subsides. It can take a couple months post-surgery.

few weeks ago, i was just randomly strolling in a mall, and happened to saw a small pet exhibition and i fall in love with the small bunny. i dont have much knowledge about rabbit. this person sells small bunny and claim it cant grow any bigger since they already 7-12months, and they were really tiny. he sell it 15USD each. because i dont have a big space at home for a big rabbit, so i was convinced since he said it cant grow any bigger. so i bought a couple. but one died after 2 days, and the other on the next day. i dont know what i did wrong, they looks fine, but suddenly they looks very sick, cant move at all, and hard to breath. because i was so frustated and i thought it was my fault because i use scented wooden shavings (after i googled, it said scented things isnt good for their respiratory) but after that i asked 3 legit breeder, and sent them the picture of my bunny. they all said i was tricked by the seller. they can gurantee they are not even 1 month old. they said the fur is a baby fur. maybe around 3 weeks old. and usually bunny from those kind of seller, wont live long. i felt so bad for the bunny :( i learned my lesson, and now i adopting new bunny from a proper breeder. i will pick them up in a few weeks, after they reach 2 months old this time i really want to make sure they are healty and have a long happy live!
