This is my old m6! As an OG Hoovie subscriber, it’s awesome to see it end up in his hands. I previously sold it on Bring a Trailer to a car collector and it looks like he never took my EZ Tag and registration stickers off. I collected all of the paperwork for the car since it’s original purchase into a binder that should be with the car. If it’s not, I’m happy to share all of that as I still have it saved on my computer. Enjoy! It’s my favorite car I’ve owned, and my third bmw v10.

I have a dinan stage 1 tune to remove the speed governor, which I can confirm worked. The car seems to consume about 1 quart of oil per 1200 miles. I do the same thing Hoovie described the previous owner did--wait in the garage for the car to warm up before setting off. You can try getting the European SMG tune, which really does improve the gearbox quite a bit. I did that to my M5 along with a custom dyno tune and it really rolled out.

Here in the uk there’s a company that regularly manual-swaps V10 M5s and they use the manual box and diff from an E92 M3 which apparently works well. Great car, glad to see it getting some appreciation. The SMG is actually really good when you learn how to use it, for instance some say to lift ye thorttle shen shifting, but really you shouldn't as it confuses the computer (it learns your style). Always drive it in manual S5 mode too. If you can, before the swap to a manual transmission, try turning off all traction control as you can then out the transmission into S6 mods. It is brutal and loads of fun! Good to see some understanding about warming these, I drive mine under 3krpm until it warms to 75°c and then I'll use all the RPMs. Treat it like you would any exotic engjne and it makes sense.

I wonder which v10 is more unreliable, the m5/m6 with the v10 or the audi s6/s8 with the “Lamborghini” v10

I think it's just BEAUTIFUL. But I would definitely do the manual swap. I can't wait to see it when it's done 👍

Difficult and expensive to own, absolutely, but man, what a special engine.

I vote for the manual swap. I did a swap on an 06 M5 (car was reviewed in a 100percentjake video with his corvette). Worst part was finding the factory parts! Wiring diagrams are available via newtis and part numbers via realoem. Used a transmission out of an e92 m3 and had to have the driveshaft modified. Driving a V10 car with a 6 speed manual was well worth the effort in my opinion.

I have to admit that I always loved these cars. I live in Jamaica and a reggae artist named Junior Reid bought one new. I saw it on the road all the time. He had a convertible and it was black on black. The sound of that engine and the curves of the design made it one of the coolest cars I saw as a kid. My Grandad had a E34 525i when I was a toddler and my love for BMW grew from there. The V10 stuck with me though. Very special car.

Beautiful car I have a 2007 with 208,000 on it so as long as you stay on path with the maintenance you’ll have plenty of awesome drive time on this vehicle. This is by far my most favorite car to drive.

I loved the design when they came out, still do, aging nicely. Nearly got into a 635d M Sport here in Europe back in the day. Only because I couldn't afford a M6!

The Carbon fiber roof was standard for the m6. The power button is to unleash the full +500 horsepower. Default startup mode is 400 horsepower. I had a 2010 m6 Silverstone metallic. I miss it soo much! The only major repair I had were the throttle actuators. I did have to service the differential but wasn't too major. All between 45k and under 55k miles. I think the thermostat was on its way out when I was selling it.

None are left because even the car knew it should put ITSELF out of it's future misery. An out of warranty BMW is an endless money pit.

Would love to offer a replacement boot lid, taking the line of the rear lamps, maybe a vague boat tail…… it would hammer the boot capacity, but……. 🎉🇬🇧

I owned a 2007 Silver-Gray over Black M6 Coupe which I purchased as a CPO car. I drove it for two years and really enjoyed it but quickly came to the conclusion that I did not want to own it out of warranty. It remains the best sounding car I’ve ever owned and my (then young) daughter used to love going thru the Addison toll tunnel where I would wind it out in 2nd gear with the windows down.

Like most I’m a fan of the 1970s-90s BMWs and lost interest during the Bangel era, but that has to be one of the nicest mid-00s 6-Series I’ve ever seen. As you said, most of the ones that are still running these days are Hoopties. Do that manual swap, get the rod bearings, and then hang onto this thing! It’s depreciated so the value curve might actually go up!

Keeping all original parts and Ninja doing the swap and perhaps videoing it answers a couple of the few big questions.😎

I'm 2nd owner of a 2006 BMW 530i that I bought from my friends wife. She was 70 when she bought it new. I was 60 when I bought. It had 50K on it when I got it 12 years ago. It just turned 100K. Always maintained and garaged. Non smokers and with no children. Never had a problem with it so far. It is still a 9 out of 10. Still looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Artic White over Saddle Leather. There are some good ones out there if they were maintained properly.

Thats a great buy. My M6 has the carbon fiber package. Not sure which I prefer (the wood or the carbon fiber) I believe the wood package is more rare. They are amazing cars and next time you get on an on ramp make sure your in M mode(traction control off, full power, and in shift mode 6) and rev it all the way to redline and shift. It's a very different experience. (Than when you short shift it.) I love your channel, keep it up 🙂

6 years ago bought a e60M5 obviously with the V10. Bought it with 55k miles. Drove it literally everywhere. 500 mile road trips from ca to Az in 120 degree heat. Was my daily. Was a SMG also. Drove it 1300 miles during a ca state road trip. Canyon drives. Drove it hard. Never launched or beat it but always in M mode. Redline often. Loved the SMG also if you know how to drive it. NEVER GAVE ME ONE PROBLEM EVER. Was dead reliable. I was worried often because I was aware of reliability issues but I never had one. Sold it with 92k miles. Miss it. Want another one. Also, buying a 355 with the F1 because I miss the SMG so much. A good running bmw V10 is epic. Also a edit here to add. I had original clutch. No smg pump done. No rod bearings done. Had black stone tell me the oil looked amazing but can tell bearing we’re just a little worn.

Wow….vids like this make me happy I still have my trusty ‘ol C5 Z06, that has essentially never let me down, 60k miles (on most of it lol) & 700+whp & no complaints, stock 6 speed tremec manual (upgrade clutch/diff)

I LOVE the rear design and presence of these cars overall. When I rarely see them they always have a legit head turning ability like a much more expensive supercar.
