Would love see Twilight Princess remake or remaster for switch 2. Running at 60 fps. Wolf Link Needs love too and my favourite Zelda series, then TOTK and Link to the Past. But yeah chances of new Zelda games kinda slim. Remaster?? Maybe.

I'm hoping it stays as just a tech demo. It would be good to show the comparison, but I don't think it actually needs an official release. Also if nintendo starts this generation with just remake after remake (oot, kid icarus) it's just gonna be the 3ds all over again. New things are needed. I actually really like the idea of this MMO and what it could become just because it's something new for nintendo. I would love if they revisited some of the ideas from the wii era again with this console.

Twilight Princess is a great option for next gen graphical overhaul to offer with Switch 2 release. OOT I'm still unsure about how much of a remake to expect, because it's kinda unprecedented for them to reinvent gameplay, as it's designed to stand the test of time. Yet remastering might make the world seem lacking. So how would they introduce extra content in the world I wonder 🤔

I could see OoT remake turning some heads and showcase the system, but I would see it revealed at the summer direct convincing more people to put s2 on their holiday list, but yes 2026 is a good release timeframe, however we may get some existing title upgrades from the system 😉

Since I enjoyed playing Echoes of Wisdom, I hoped Nintendo and the Zelda team can make a a Torna-esque TOTK side story for the Nintendo Switch 2 (or the successor of Nintendo Switch) where we get to see more Zelda’s journey in the Era of Hyrule’s Founding, adding layers of the Zonai origin, extra contents from the Master Works (such as Hylia entrusting the Sacred Stones to the Zonai), an linear storytelling that has more focused on the characters, and the Imprisoning War (or Sealing War in Japanese) with Princess Zelda as a playable main character.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see some kind of new Hyrule Warriors game, maybe that inevitable Imprisoning War game and because... Age of Calamity is what a 4+ mil seller? Highest selling Warriors game, and on Switch 2 with the new power, they can correct the visuals and frame rate, would be ideal...

Even if it is non canon, I hope the Zelda team can make a sequel to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in the Switch 2. I am curious about what would happen if the Upheaval be like in the timeline Terrako has created. And I believe the possibilities of time travel are endless. Let alone give more in-depth to the Zonai race, make the Ancient Sages more fleshed out, scream times for Rauru, Sonia, and Mineru, provide a bit of backstory for Ganondorf, and bringing back Twinrova

If we get Zelda in the reveal trailer or reveal mini-direct, it’ll probably be the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess remakes. And if they were doing full remakes rather than re-remasters of the games, that would be a great way to showcase the power and capability of Switch 2.

I think the chances are pretty high that a team has been working on a 3D Zelda game for quite some time now. After the basics of Tears were set, I don't see why they couldn't have split up the team into two. I think the chances are even higher than they have been testing Zelda stuff on the Switch 2. That could be the rumored BoTW tech demo, or a very small scoped prototype of a new game. I see no logical reason why Nintendo wouldn't want their Zelda team to have a nice head start on Switch 2 development. It could be that the SDKs/APIs are very similar, but still, I'm sure there are improvements to learn about and test. There is also a chance they could show a very quick little teaser like the Wii U tech demo. What makes zero sense to me is pundits just using the historical time for game dev and mapping that out to making predictions. For starters, there is no way Nintendo really wants to prolong being able to push Switch 2 hardware via Zelda for 232034 years, it is possible to establish multiple teams like I said, and game dev time depends on the tech complexity and how quickly the ideas come into focus without needing dramatic pivots. A game that uses the open air engine but its main mechanics involve time travel or multiverse stuff probably do not require the same dev effort needed to get Ultrahand working.

But Nintendo, who makes the new 3D titles, doesn't have two teams. They have one team, and even for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, they had to pull in help from the other development groups to push it to the finish line. They're big, but not big enough to split into two and deliver the same quality. What they do have is Grezzo working on 2D remakes (and given the greenlight to make their first original Zelda title in Echoes of Wisdom) and Tantalus working on the 3D remakes. I'm sure the Nintendo Zelda team got started on Switch 2 hardware as soon as TotK wrapped, either to work on this U-King-O BotW upgrade, Andres' conjectured TotK add-on (which I'd doubt is real), or the next new Zelda 3D game a few years down the line. But its just not feasible for Nintendo to get us a new 3D Zelda game on the scope of Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom done in time to be ready by 2026; they had to delay TotK from 2022 to 2023 because project was taking longer to wrap up, so they probably never got a chance to get a head start on new game development in 2022 ro 2023 to even possibly be ready by 2026. 2027 or 2028 seem much more probable for the main team's next output. So that leaves the support studios. Grezzo just got Echoes of Wisdom done, so they're undoubtedly in the very early stages of their next game, whether Zelda or something else (I wouldn't mind seeing Ever Oasis ported.) They probably won't take as long to get the next game as the Nintendo team, but having just started, they're probably also 2027-ish. That leaves Tantalus and the collection of Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or Ocarina of Time remake. If (and big if) the Ocarina of Time remake is far enough along to show something in the reveal trailer, I think they'd include it over any U-King-O Breath of the Wild upgrade footage. The 4K/60fps might be nice from a graphical perspective, but it'll be hard to show that in the reveal trailer unless they stop and spend several seconds on it, long enough to recognize its enhanced over original Switch version, and they probably won't invest that much time stuck on one screen. It might show up, but we won't get the details and screenshot differences until a later video that goes more in-depth on Switch 2 games. However, inclusion of a short clip of an Ocarina of Time remake, that people could instantly recognize as Ocarina of Time, would make brains explode in a way U-King-O can't, while taking much less video time. If we don't see Ocarina of Time in the reveal trailer (assuming we still see the reveal this year) then we'll probably know Tantalus's project by end of the regularly scheduled January Direct. If they show us Wind Waker or Twilight Princess filling a 2025 month to make up for a late 2025 arrival of new hardware, we'll know that's what they've been working on. But if neither is announced, the speculation they'll be bringing Ocarina of Time remake to Switch 2 in the 40th anniversary year (2026) will skyrocket. I think its obvious Nintendo wants /something/ for Zelda in 2026 and I think they want more than just another turn-at-bat for Wind Waker or Twilight Princess (much as I adore Wind Waker myself), and I'd wager the Ocarina of Time remake as most likely. I'm having trouble foreseeing Nintendo getting to the 40th anniversary and not having any Zelda games, having used up all current projects in previous years, or still another year or two down the line, and any compilation of older games can be ruled out because they're almost all available on NSO now. (I guess the CD-i games could be brought to NSO to celebrate the anniversary, but that's not much of a celebration.)

@@lilisaur I still think the 3D Zelda team could have split up (without changing head count) once they had the foundation laid for Tears (i.e. Ultrahand and the verticality of the game). You don't need all-hands-on-deck to create a bunch of cutscenes and general content including the sky islands. What if the Ocarina game is a re-imagining like the Final Fantasy 7 thing? New dungeons, new time travel mechanics, but same dungeon items? There are lots of ways they could rearrange things to get a game out by 2026. Let's say the last year of Tears development was just in filling out its content. Mid 2022 to Mid 2026 would be 4 years. That's not an unrealistic timeline for a game with a less ambitious technical scope. A less technically ambitious scope doesn't necessarily mean a lesser game either. So many fans have been going on about story and traditional dungeons. To kind of amalgamate the best of the open air games with traditional games sort of like they did with Echoes of Wisdom is not necessarily a 4+ year project.

@@besson3c Doesn't seem like game would be delayed if the last year was just spent filling out content. Giving benefit of doubt that they had started in mid-2022, you're still giving four years to top the previous two games which each took longer. 4 years is certainly enough time to make a quality project, but Zelda team has shown a propensity to go very big, and generally speaking, games aren't taking less time to develop but more. I believe you vastly underestimate the amount of work that went into TotK and assume splitting the team got them to the same goal. Look at @NintendoForecast's breakdown of expected development costs. One feature of note is how much longer the credits list for TotK is over BotW, including a lot of extra studios (such as MonolithSoft) being brought into help. Why split the Zelda team only to need more external help than if you didn't split? And if it was split, why hasn't the new EPD been identified in some way, All signs indicate Nintendo put every developer, artist, and tester they could spare into TotK and that there's been no significant breakup of EPD 3.
