I find the best powder yet to shoot the 130 Barnes TTSX bullet. My 308 Winchester Savage Axis II loves it.

That's nearly 400+ fps more than the 120gr ttsx in the 6.5 Creed, and why the 308 isn't dead and can't be killed. It does everything well.

That 130gr ttsx going 3300 will be great or to 500 or so. Low b.c. but no amount of b.c. makes up for that velocity!

Remember Barnes rates their BC's at 300 yards not 200 or 100 like other manufacturers so don't get too caught up in the BC advertising , I get 3300 out of my 325 WSM with 160 TTSX and reloader 17 that weight is light for caliber also but I don't care

TAC has been phenomenal for me. Just tested some handloads yesterday. It's also good for 150gr ttsx (2890s out of my 18") and north fork 165gr ss. While i got over 3100 with my 130gr M80A1 projectiles, the accuracy wasn't there. I was still 0.7grs away from Max.

I used the 130g ttsx in my vanguard 308 with (I think I settled on) 46.6 gr Varget . Last fall and I took two Taney Co. Missouri whitetails. Both ran approximately 30 yards and expired. Both broadside shots thouhh one was heart and the other ended up a touch higher than I liked and double lunged. Internal damage wound cavity looked to perform well and the exit wound I thought would have been better than it was. However- blood trail was nice and started within 10 yards or so. P.s. both deer where approximately 225yrd. I also took the same setup to south west Texas for a hog hunt and used it to harvest one of the hogs at approx 100 yards. It worked flawlessly again. Though based on shot location being direct behind the ear the hog was all but expired when she hit fell over where she stood. I'm looking forward to playing with and testing these 130s in my 300 weatherby here this fall. Great Channel man-.im glad I cam across it!

50 thousandths off lands is actually really seating it out there for Barnes, lot of times people seat the Barnes 75-150+. The factory COL 130s and on there data is around 2.730 which is about 200 thousandths off most 308s. You probably have yours seated out 100-150 more than most of us, and I bet that's how your not showing pressure with those spicy loads! My TAC 130 are 2.750 and 50.5 grains is about all I can do. You've inspired me to reach further!!! With extreme caution of course, LOL. PS you'll love not dealing with blood shot, lead shrapnel filled meat at harvest time!!!

I'm not sure if it applies to Barnes bullets but a striking velocity of 2900 or over will destroy a lot of meat with traditional bullets. Your load would be great for over 125 yards but closer could be a problem. Great load!

@denisleblanc4506

No I don't. When meat is hit with a velocity higher than 2900 fps it tends to break down and turn to jelly. Local tree stand hunters stay away from 270 Win and 7mm Rem Mag because of this. When they do use them they use the heaviest bullet they can find to reduce the velocity. Of course their shots are rarely over 75 yards.@@hopefulballistics

The grouping changes look just like the changes that you see when adjusting a barrel tuner, which, I suppose, makes sense, as the barrel/system react to the different shock loading, and different "angle" at the muzzle with different velocities... Have you tried a tuner/brake? Just a thought...

Im not a huge fan of Barnes bullets. My hunting is 99% inside 200yards and altho it included Blk Bears and Hogs. Nothing really dangerous. Cup n Core and of coarse my own cast have been all I need. Early on I picked up a few boxes of these when I first got my 300 aac cause I couldn't get the 110 and assumed they was same. Of coarse we all know its not at all even close. These 130's sat and sat. I made a rim cut on a H&R/NEF308 so I could shoot 307 Winchesters and loaded these 130's WOW WOW WOW!!! H 335 and these bullets where LIGHTNING BOLTS and laser beam accurate! I was shooting only shooting about 2950 fps and at 1" largest. Anyone having a H&R knows consistent good accuracy is rare. Sometimes they shoot most of the time they are just passable hunting accuracy. Occasionally ya get a shooter. I mostly use TAC in 358 but am trying in my lil 6arc now. Good video man! 👍🏼💪🏼💥💥

I understand that everything I'm about to list has a better BC. The question I have is would you consider this an elk cartridge? Think about the 6.5 127gr Barnes Vortex LR. This beats the velocity of the PRC loaded with that bullet. While the BC for the 308 is lower, it's still a few grains heavier. To push bullets in this weight class to these velocities my mind immediately goes to 6.5-300 WBY. Now on to 270. Standard loading for 130gr has it moving at about 3100FPS. People take lots of elk with all those mentioned above. So......is this an adequate elk load?

You must be well over pressure!

I said in the video I went 1/2 grain over book max. No signs of pressure and the velocity never jumped that much, just slow went up. Don’t be a hater.

@@hopefulballistics without looking in my notes I want to say right around 54gr got me around 3250 and a very tight groups,,but as you know every rifle is different and what works in one may not be worth a hill of beans in another,,both my 308 are Browning x bolt one a white gold medallion, and the other a LR heavy barrel

BTW, are you not a believer in 5 shot groups, as a better group test? Again, just like when adjusting a barrel tuner, you get "peaks and valleys" in groups as the velocity and, maybe, shock/impact to the barrel, changes.

I filmed 7 videos on this day, and shot over a hundred rounds. I’m not against 5 shot groups at all, but is it necessary? Maybe, depends.

Id feel iffy being over max. But that 3/4 group i think second one was the one id run. I dont like being at or over max

@@hopefulballistics just because elevation and temperature change does effect pressure quite a lot. I like to ride the 97 98 percent range rather then max . Just peace of mind
