So this is definitely more of a "I did a thing" video, rather than a "how to" video. But after the amazing support y'all gave to the last remodeling video, I figured I would give y'all a little more of the same :-) So this is a video I made a long time ago when I first started remodeling my trailer, and had no experience. I hope y'all enjoy and maybe even get some inspiration or ideas from it :-)
Let me know in the comments below if you have any other questions, comments, or concerns, and as always, remember to like, comment, and subscribe! :-)
If you want to keep up to date with upcoming projects and random things that don't make it into the videos, check out my Instagram page!

It looks great! You really created your vision of making a trailer look more like a house. If you plan to hang curtain, please, mount them from the ceiling to the floor. mounting them on the window trim makes the walls look so short. When you finish please show us a full tour of your trailer.

As far as the curtains go, absolutely! Lol, I want to swap them out ASAP, but didn't have time over that weekend 😅. As far as the trailer tour goes, that's a wonderful idea! I think I need to do that once I finally finish it! 😁

Yes, I hang mine just 2 to 3 inches from the ceiling, it is up to each person what rods they use, I prefer the plain wrap around rods and buy a quality curtain to cover it, I use a bracket support in the middle for large windows or heavy materials. I hate to see ornate/expensive rods with cheap curtains. I would like to see a full tour as well.

Yes! It's so strange what you can and cannot find easily when it comes to supplies for manufactured homes! But generally speaking, most home improvement stores don't have the right size doors, windows, thresholds, or much else. In most situations I had to find a way to modify something meant for a normal house. At any rate, didn't mean to rant that much 😅 Thank you so much for the positive feedback! 😁

You're doing a great job! I need to tell you something important. The gaps at the bottom of mobile home doors are very important for the furnace to function properly. I did the same as you and had to pay a furnace repair person. If you don't want the gap at the bottom of the doors, options are to put a vent hole through the walls to each room, or cut hole in bottom of door and put vent there. Best wishes!

I've completely remodeled 5 mobile homes, gutted 2 of them to the studs, and they aren't always straightforward LoL. Odd size doors, windows, junction boxes that split the home up in a crazy configuration. Your room turned out really nice, but it does still have that "trailer" vibe. The only thing that I would have done different to keep that from happening is to remove the furring strips that hide the joints in the drywall. Mud, tape, and minimal sanding is all that's needed, and the end result is well worth the effort. Something else I've learned over the years is choosing a ceiling trim molding that's at least 2 inches wide along with a baseboard 3 inches wide or more, keeps that trailer vibe at bay. Window trim, as well, should be changed. I know budget is always a consideration when doing projects, but deciding which elements will give us the look were going for, the most bang for our buck so to speak, should be heavily considered. Trailer reno is a worthy task because it can be done inexpensively. You do great work! Just wanted to pass along some knowledge 😉✌️

@@hopesdreamsducttape41 absolutely! You need all the support you can get, especially when renovating a manufactured home!! Nothing is ever where it's supposed to be! Funny story...had a home where both bathrooms, on opposite ends of the home, were wired to the outlet OUTSIDE by the water spigot. The only GFCI outlet is in the guest bathroom 😱 LoL the outside outlet tripped and everything quit working in both bathrooms. Took me 2 days to figure out what was going on and reset the button. I gutted my entire mobile home and re-did it. I even tore down the framing for the bathroom and re-framed it all making it larger. I wish I could post the before and after pics here. The change is epic and none of that cheap trim, wall seams and awful ceilings. Beautiful sheet-rock everywhere. I've also dealt with flooring. When you go to do the finish flooring in these, lay down luon if you're putting down PVC click fit flooring. It'll give you a smoother surface and make the job infinitely easier. Also in this mobile homes, replace ALL outlets and switches. They are likely back-wired, which is dangerous, at the bare minimum it gives you a much weaker contact.

I owned a doublewide that I updated, I am an older woman and didn't have any power tools other than a drill, so I didn't do any carpentry, I did hire someone to repair subflooring and lay new laminate floors like yours, I am not a fan of carpet either, I repaired and patched the textured ceiling and spackled, sanded the wall seems and any holes, for any large holes, I sprayed the expanding insulation foam, let that harden and layered spackle over it and sanded it flush after completely dry, I had great existing trim and moldings, so after cleaning, I painstakingly tapped them off and painted it all, with the furring strips removed and the walls and trim painted with a high quality flaw hiding paint, it looked marvelous, time and patience is key to a job done right, just paint and elbow grease can make a huge impact, not to mention decorating, when I sold my home, I got $20k more than I paid, plus I got to enjoy it for several years and save money.

Another great video. I love seeing the before and after. I want to buy a manufactured home and your video's show me what you can do to make them look nicer. One thing I wonder about though and that is, why were you finding so many water damaged spots in the floor? Were you concerned where the water had come from?

Thank you so much! I am genuinely happy that so many people are able to benefit from my videos! 😁 As far as your question goes, I knew there was water damage behind the fridge that had spread into the master bedroom, because I had already remodeled the kitchen and solved that issue. I also knew there would probably be water damage by the window because I could see the window unit was installed incorrectly and dripping down the window seal. So when it comes to any doubts you might have of water damage, consider the sources of water, and do your best to iron out if they are problematic or not. But generally, you shouldn't have to worry about ripping up flooring to find water damage. It will be evident in one way or another from above. Best of luck! 🙂

Hey great content! I would just advice you add a noise gate filter(noise reduction) to your editing so it takes out the background noise

HmmmI shall have to research that, never heard of it, so thank you for the tip! Audio is definitely the main thing that is lacking in terms of video quality, so I'll take any advice to make it better 😁

I’d love to see the bathroom remodel and the tub/shower unit I think I saw. Also did you consider pocket doors? And is there no closet at all now in this bedroom?
@hopesdreamsducttape41

So unfortunately I don't have any footage of the bath/shower installation, and not much on the overall bathroom either 😅 The bathtub was bought from a mobile home supply store, but the siding is actually metal roofing supplies 😁 Had to seal off the surrounding walls, cut the metal roofing to the right size and shape, then cut and install the trim pieces, and held everything in place with self sealing screws (screws with rubber grommets on them). Also, yes, no more closet in the bedroom, but I'm ok with that because the open larger feeling is worth it 😁

Bed looks about a foot or two too close to the gamer spot but that might be the alignment for the tv and what not. Maybe fill in a window to fix the alignment, only really need one window per room.

Thank you! But no, lol, I just wanted to have a higher quality place to live in without shelling out for a mortgage or expensive apartment 😋 I primarily like working on random projects, like electronics, terrariums, metal working, wood working, etc.... but apparently people like my remodeling content more 🥲
