Hi again Jane, thanks for that. So far as members finds, we meet once a month and basically I have 3 winning coins and 3 winning artefacts in our members monthly finds competition that I then photograph. If I work on the hope of producing 2 good quality videos a months that means I can show 3 members finds items per video. As I take the images I am the copyright holder which is great. I anticipate this to be a long term arrangement so more good finds to come for the foreseeable future :-)

Well thank you Jo Anne. We in the UK, like most places, are on lockdown so metal detecting is strictly not allowed for now. However, I was fortunate to have some amazing finds that I recorded on my Go-pro in the weeks just prior to the lockdown. That means I have enough footage for about 3 videos of great finds from both myself and my club members. I posted the one 2 weeks ago which includes 1200'S SILVER HAMMERED COINS, A MEDIEVAL GOLD COIN AND A ROMAN TUTULUS TYPE DISC BROOCH" and much more. My next video should be out by the end of this week with more great finds in there too. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing, I really appreciate it. ATB and stay safe. Keith.

those members finds were stunning please keep the feature. You almost thought that cap badge was scrap metal. I found one once when it came out I was looking at the back covered in dirt, it looked like metal with rust holes in it, re checked hole and found a strip of metal which I immediately recognised as the pin from a cap badge picked up the discard scrap turned it over Lo a cap badge could even see where the pin had recently broken away.

No clubs where I live.. very rural farming areas, but in some of our states they require that you notify them of historical finds if on public land and it goes from there ( antiquities I believe they call it) and yes some people who realize what you are finding on their land will change their minds and ask that you turn it over to them. I have yet to find any thing spectacular like your clubs finds. Have only been doing metal detecting since this spring, but was wondering how the rules work in you country.
@HOPEUSMAXIMUS5 жыл бұрын
Hi, welcome and thanks for watching. Very basically... ALL land in England had an owner. You can only detect if you get permission. No permission = no detecting and if you do you are breaking the law. So far as finds and what happens to them, that is between you and the Landowner to agree between yourselves EXCEPT if the find is deemed as treasure within "The Treasure Act 1996" that is a legal requirement that it is reported to the authorities and then legal processes take place regards the find and its possible confiscation by the Crown. But with a compensatory reward being made to the finder and Landowner.

Another great video, Hopeus. Thanks for all your work putting them together. What camera do you use in the field and what harness have you got so you can film and dig? Hiya and thanks for the comment and question.I use a GoPro Hero 5 and it has a rear colour screen so I can glance down to check what I'm videoing. When you move from standing to kneeling then getting right into the hole the camera angles change with your body movement. It a case of continually glancing down at the rear screen to make sure your on target and adjusting when required. The chest mount is a standard type and are about £10 delivered... However, you can get a whole kit with a chest harness with extras included for around £11 delivered!. Here is an example of what you can get but I cannot vouch for this seller, it's just an example I found online for this post. Cheers. www.amazon.co.uk/YEHOLDING-Accessories-Accessory-Session-DBPOWER-as-picture/dp/B07CYTWBTR/ref=asc_df_B07CYTWBTR/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=344340269007&hvpos=7o10&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10502715832769659322&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006707&hvtargid=pla-596994227968&psc=1

Many thanks for your full answer and link. It’s really helpful. I hope to make some detecting videos in the future. Mind you, I guess I could do with finding something other than flat buttons first. Seem to have had a run on them recently! Thanks again for the advice and keep up the good work. Best wishes.

It's under the video mate in the description box and under... "MUSIC ATTRIBUTION ~ (START OF VIDEO)" There is a link there and it's free as long as you give the attribution like I did. Thanks for watching.

Hi , Diana from Pennsylvania here. I was just wondering if any of your club members kept their finds or did you have to turn them over to whom ever owned the property?
@HOPEUSMAXIMUS5 жыл бұрын
Hi Diana, As the law stands at the moment, (it may change in the future) - A) It's all down to what the agreement is that was made between the detectorist and the landowner so far as sharing and this can vary quite a lot. Agreements are either verbal or written...written is best for obvious reason, but some landowners prefer to give a verbal as they do not want to sign anything. What is absolutely the law and non-negotiable is what happens should a find be made "that is known, or thought to be", treasure within "The Treasure Act 1969" Such items MUST be declared and handed in to the authorities who will examine and decide if the item/s are actually treasure within the act or not. If it is found they are not treasure, the item/s gets returned to the finder and then A) as above comes in to play. If it is found that the item/s ARE treasure BUT the crown disclaims them (say they do not want them), then A) comes into play again. Or, If it is found that the item/s ARE treasure, the crown can "claim" them under the treasure act. However, if claimed, the item/s must be independently valued and the receiving museum must pay the valuation amount. The amount then gets split by the authorities between the finder and he landowner, again, as per any written or verbal agreement that was made between the two parties. I hope that all makes sense. Cheers.

Fantastic video :) may I ask what program you use on the deus? Thanks in advance Paul

Hi Paul, Thanks for the kind comment. I have a remote and I'm on Version 5.2 and so far as programmes, in the spare slots 11, 12, and 13, 14 respectively I save BASIC, HOT and DEUS FAST and DEEP. I put these together as It's then easy to just flick between these 4 programmes so it makes sense to have them in 1 block. I mainly detect using HOT and then BASIC helps me decide if an iffy signal may be iron or not. i.e. it will either help tell me it's iron by the sound and graphic... or gives me a better signal that prompts me to dig it. DEUS FAST and DEEP also used to help identify if a target is there and if it sounds like anon iron target that,s worthy of digging. Sounds complicated but I just easily flick between them and that helps me decide. Don't get me wrong, I still pull out the aluminium cans, cow tubes, foil, lead, ring pulls, bullet casings and shot gun cartridge end... but all of those could be high value signals you you HAVE to dig them. And I just remember the old saying... IF IN DOUBT... DIG IT OUT. It's what suits the individual at the end of the day and I just know that this has worked for me, as you can see by some of the finds I've had on previous videos. Hope that helps.
