@@burtbiggum499 Start by watching some KZbin videos on how to sew by hand. Then if you don't want to spend a lot of money, I found a $300 Singer sewing machine with nothing wrong with it at the Goodwill store for $12. I bought a cheap quick adjust sling off of Amazon that has VERY good webbing (the "brand" was "DMAIP"), very soft but strong material, but it has terrible QD's on it, so I had to use a razor blade to cut the stitching out so I could replace the QD on one end of it with some decent BCM one's, and then used my sewing machine to put the same stitch pattern back into it. Works great and I saved a lot of money. The sling I got is made with really good material, but the QD's were unusable. Still worth the buy, if you're able to replace and restitch the QD's.

After I realized that it was overkill for my amateur needs, I looked at the Mag-Pull MS1 sling and used one of the end points from BFG. I have tighten it very securely for precision shooting and it has never slipped. BTW the material that is used on the Mag-Pul sling is a proprietorial material made in Europe for Mag-Pul. It feels and moves great and is able to support a heavy rifle. I don’t think that there is a bad sling out there, but you can certainly over pay.

If I get the ms1 I don’t get how it connects to my rifle? Do you have to buy the connectors that go on sling and then where it goes into rifle?
@CasualVitality Жыл бұрын
@@Kgoutdoor Depends on what your rifle has attachment point wise. Most stocks have a QD (Quick detatch) socket, basically a hole that a QD sling connector fits into. You can buy the QD sling swivel on their own and add them to a sling, or you can buy slings with the QD sling swivels already attached. The Magpul MS1 sling and Blue force gear vickers have options that already have the QD sling swivels attached. You just have to make sure your rifle already has two QD slots, one on the stock and one on the handguard. If you don't have one on the handguard, you need to buy a QD sling adapter that fits into any MLOK rail. Hope that helps!
@jmmartin7766 Жыл бұрын
@@KgoutdoorMy magpul is the MS3 (the MS1 that comes with the lockable "squeeze" clips attached). To use it, I installed the "Paraclip Sling Mount" (on the side of my handguards-- about $20), and the "QD paraclip adapter" (on my stock-- $17). But you can always just clip it to your traditional AR swivels, if you want, until you decide how you want to use it. The result is, my sling is quickly & easily adjusted for firing; it's 100% removable in a hurry (a feature I really love at the range or anytime I'm doing AR maintenance); and it's easily convertible to single point, as Hop said, although I have yet to find a real need for that-- But options are always nice. Think I bought mine for about $50. And combined with the quality, adaptability, and ease of use makes it an excellent buy, imo-- No I don't work for Magpul lol. I do recommend a channel called "Regular Guy Training" where he did a review on this exact sling after years of using it as a soldier, frequently under combat conditions. True. Love you Hop. Sling is required for gun. Period. Single point is a retention device only. Not for carry, because it just allows the gun to abuse your jewels when you’re on the move, forcing you to actually carry gun with hands- no good. 3 point is stable, but also in the way, all the time, and was conceived in a time when attachment options (to gun) were poor. 2 point, necessary. Quick adjust, necessary. There is no reason to not go this route today. Paying more than $100, not necessary. Bungee, not necessary.

I went the Ferro Slingster on the advice of an LE friend. Because I use a (right-handed shooter) over-and-under support arm, "twist," to lock in the strap Using this hold I was hitting, and occasionally activating, the slide mechanism. I then went with a GBRS sling. It has basically the same function but the adjustment is done via a pliable strap that does not cause the same problems. Magpul strap is very strong and sewn well, as noted here however the adjustment slide (plastic) piece does not stay in position. Good for belaying though...
@PreacherT53 жыл бұрын
Own the slingster, its a solid sling my only issue with it is the massive adjuster on it. It adds bulk if stowing the sling to your gun, its also metal which due to its weight tends to swing where it wants and hit stuff on the gun. It has great adjustability and the pad is perfect. Im actually moving to a trex arms sling because of the metal slider. If your not stowing your sling to your gun then you need not worry.

MS4 is great. Good to have the option of single point when nut damage risk is minimal. Haven’t gone hard enough to see the adjuster slip. @@snek9353 i made one friend, it’s a regular sling with a bungee attached. I guess i should have said the concept of a bungee sling? Sort of treated it like “sidecar holster” there, when that’s trex’ name for it

I personally just run a regular blue force 2 point sling on my AR and that's enough for me.

Personally love the RT-3M, but I suppose the choice depends on your favourite rifle type. Never tried to put it on an AR, so not sure if it would really mount on properly

I have a laptop bag sling and its amazing and very well made, it slides open quickly if needed but takes a little more dexterity to close it quickly, i might have to add a pad later, i have a single poiny attach sling with stretch materiak i love, wish it was two point

loving your content hop. You are very well spoken brother. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the unitys/1.93 mounts even if it's a 5 minute clip, to give something to people on a certain image board whenever they ask about it

IMO homemade is your best option if you’re even moderately creative. 3-5 Tri-glide slides, abt 6 feet of nylon tube webbing, and a few feet of paracord- all from Amazon, and a cam-buckle like from an ALICE pack. Put all that together and you have a decent tactical sling starter pack. Assembly videos are all over YT. Total cost is around $15, most expensive part is the cam buckle.

You went over all the slings I was curious on and was able to put out points for each one. Have yet to find any video that can decently show off one sling and tell me what I need to know.

Fastex buckles are a must, having an additional way to get out of the sling in an emergency is an option you don't know you need it till ya need it.

99% of shooters run at least a front qd attachment. I wouldn't say a buckle is a must

My opinion isn’t worth much, but I have seven of the top names and the Sly Tactical and Edgar Sherman are my favorites. Good video; thanks.

Ive only had and run the bfg vickers non padded. But of all the sling types ive tried, my preffered sling is the bfg vickers non padded.

I have an AK sling i ran thru my gas block on my ar and the buttstock. It works super well, only issue is its a lil annoying on my shoulder after a day of carry😊

I'm ashamed to admit it buy I haven't yet picked a sling for any of my guns year. I'm a thin build small guy and the couple I did try were mainly suited for an mp5. This helped more than most other videos

The adjustable Latigo from Brownells is on almost every rifle I own, and even a shotgun, and I've been quite pleased with them. Not tacticool, but servicable and simple...and yes, they're leather.

I do like the magpul and vickers slings but i havent tried any of the newer ones like trex. I do have a viking tactics which i dont really like for a few reasons. While the buckle adjust system works fairly well i do not like a loose tag end that is sooooo long i could hang myself with it. The other part about the viking i dont like is that the metal buckles are so heavy they TWIST the sling around alot AND they can mark up your rifle. I like the magoul and vickers because they are easy to use and leave NO TAG end to strangle yourself with and the sliders are light. Warrior Poet has a sling available that i would like to try... money is ALWAYS a issue for me though so i am limited. ALWAYS LOVE your content HOP keep it ROLLIN SIR! LETS ROLL!!!!
