I didn't realize that there could be an increase in bone *strength* and not bone *density*. I guess I need to keep learning - thank you for your great content.
@susanhonegger9987 Жыл бұрын
Exactly, that IS the big difference! The bone scan you can get only measures density. But that doesn't really tell you anything about your bone strength. Seems bone density declines from around 35 years old in everybody. Therefore you want to keep your bones strong by exercising. Et voilà!

I do heel drops in the. Shower! Walk with a weight vest too.

I found hopping much easier on my back and spine once I attained better, stronger posture and did exercises to support my spine. I quickly adjusted to the feeling of “impact” which can be disconcerting at first

We are so happy that you found something that worked for you! It is definitely true that stronger bones lead to increased opportunity to exercise techniques!

How long should I hop for? What about jumping on a stepping platform? Like box jumps?

TY Dr Brown , regards from Spain . I have osteopenia so I’m trying to add stomping to my exercises, but is hopping compatible with scoliosis which I also have ? Thx ❤️🙏

Isn't heel drops or hopping dangerous for someone with osteoporosis? Wouldn't you risk fracturing?
@DrSusanBrown2 жыл бұрын
No heel drops are a safe alternative for those who cannot hop. You can control how much force you use with your drops. I would try with a very gentle drop to begin with. She explains it well in this video.

I'm excited to add hopping to my yoga routine. I assume it's not a great idea to do barefoot. Anyone have thoughts on this?

How does that impact the spine, good or bad?🤔
@DrSusanBrown Жыл бұрын
Hopping is mostly going to impact the hip. The spine does not receive impact or as much effect from hopping. I have double hip and double knee replacements…is it ok to hop?
@DrSusanBrown3 жыл бұрын
June, It would be good to consult with your doctor or physical therapist first. You could also try heel drops instead of hopping if you have concerns with hopping.

The content of the video is good, but it would be helpful to see your feet. Too much sky and not enough 🦶😊
