Here's the thing that people who aren't in the streets don't understand; when you're in a certain environment and in a certain element; the beat is all that really matters; these guys are really in and out of trap houses all day etc. Also; people come from all walks of life; some people just work with what they have and unfortunately aren't as heavily equipped with a vocabulary as others and they just work off life experiences when it comes to expressing themselves. Not saying it's "right or wrong" per se; it's just the same as with anything else; understanding another person's perspective can change your own outlook on things.

Anyone who's Hating on hopsin for this obviously does NOT understand Real Music. Hopsin is not saying he's the best Artist, and he doesn't have to be a lyrical genius in order to make this very Valid point. If you don't believe in what he is saying then your are already brain washed in Garbage music along with the rest of them. It takes good lyrics and the beat don't even have to be catchy but at least have good flow with the voice and most importantly have meaning. these days all the "Trap" music on the radio or out in general, their lyrics aren't even Decent!! and the only meaning they do have is to get high and F*cked up..... It just makes you want to ask the producer or label who signed them how in the hell, and why in the world did you sign this artist?!?!?! Anyone else agree?????? Music isn't even real anymore it's all about Money. Fame doesn't even have much meaning anymore.....

DonMega1313 Thank you donmega lol I'm saying yes your lyrics should be good, but you don't have to be an extremely talented artist to understand what Real Music is in order to make this point. Also corny comes off vague and no one ever explains it. You just say corny and be like, "Yeah man this nigga weak." When majority of people will buy a hip hop album and skip through majority of the songs if it isn't grabbing them. Jesus I never heard such a vague community in my life. You guys need to redefine it. i actually like young thug, migos, future, johnny cinco, asap mob, gucci mane, sometimes fetty wap etc. - BUT, they were all around at least 4 years before these new-gen. copycats started blowing up out of nowhere, all they are looking for is popularity and bragging rights, they don't have anything of substance or talent behind their music, they see something that worked and try to duplicate it in the hope they will also become popular... I actually don't see how people can like these new losers with no passion for music, their passion is for bragging rights, i personally think lil yatchy & friends' voices are terrible and even with autotune sound inharmonious, their lyrics are rubbish that could be written in 25mins and due to the dull and boring tone of voice a 'flow' is basically non-existent to my ears. i used to listen to all the gangster rap and old-school hip-hop until i was about 22 then i realized life is too short to take everything so seriously, some music just makes you feel good and gives you energy instead of pessimism like 90's rap seemed to be doing.... so i guess i've just contradicted myself by saying new 'rappers' sound like garbage yet people are listening to them (even though i literally can't stand 5 seconds) and they may in fact find something that will help them stay positive and give them energy, although i do think most fans of these new 'rappers' are just getting brainwashed and taking the songs literally instead of musically and also trying to imitate their way of living - which means they are becoming greedy, arrogant and less concerned about being educated because "who cares about being smart when you can make noises and become rich", so that's the negative i see.

@y0ujellybr09 жыл бұрын
I don't think you understand that people do toss paint and sell it for a shit ton
@Theohybrid9 жыл бұрын
+Benjamin Caudillo In a way, they do. In art, some have expressionism. Others, Kitsch. And even others Dada.(Search 'Dada art' and you'll see what I mean) And surrealism, formalist, or post-modernist art. Not so much 'lazy' but, out of the wide-known aspects of that art form. Not lifting up trap music at all but, some people do enjoy it for the hype but also, some enjoy it in relation to their lifestyle or like it because it is acknowledged as a romanticize presentation of gang life. It really depends on the context in which the audience listening are gravitating towards it and why. But yeah. I dunno about 'masterpiece' like art but, yeah. Historical context play a huge role between a Jackson Pollock painting worth millions of dollars and a splash of paint. Search him on google too and you'll see what I am and why his art (when you see it) is worth MILLIONS. And not just 1 or 2 million either. I would even say that its necessarily lazy. I just think that it gets people hype and widely our audience today are big fans of hype music and others like it because its relative to them. Artists maybe lazy? Maybe. Producer lazy? Probably not. Good hype music for young audience? Probably so.

The 808 Drum Kit was never meant to be the only tool of hip hop. The record companies push this shit. If you make music based on Jazz or Blues melody and drums outside the " Trap Sound" you better be ready for the sound of crickets because niggaz aint trying to hear variety right now. At the end of the day you can say you gonna be this pure artist and all that until you aint mf eating then you go figure out what people want. All of life is a compromise between elements we don't want and elements we want,, music is no different. How is trap any different than everyone liking the popular dumb ass kid in high school. Later on that kid becomes a f... loser and the Nerd gets the bomb ass woman and the 7 figure job. Trap will evolve because there are plenty of Nerds that produce in that genre and europe has evolved the trap to a club sound. Also jazz and blues and rock will be re-introduced. Lets not forget Trip hop. Its all there,, just need the ears of the public to catch up.

+TheGatinor first thing my sound design professor taught us is that vocals are the most important part of a song. the vocals are basically the song and the beat is what gives it power. as a producer myself, I know that any "good" producer should take a lot of time with vocals and lyrics the same way he would with every other instrument if not more so. so this excuse that its a dope beat is null. dope beats are easy, it's making that beat give power to a message that's hard.

Hopsin my g, this shit aint new. It aint the first time in music that you cant understand wtf the artist is saying. Its been done in rock, funk, blues, psychedelic, and all kinds of genres. The music thats popping is the one that feels good in your ears, not the one that is more lyricaly sophisticated. Thats cause people want to feel relaxed or turnt most of the time, i you cant relax to some socially aware shit

It's coming from people with a minimal talent. I personally like a good beat but I'd rather just listen to the instrumental which took some effort on the producers part than a talentless hack talk in robot voice over them. Yeah it's all Opinion but as hopsin has already pointed out It's easy to do and the drones flock to these people rather than good rappers with Skills to actually rhyme words, or Devines forbid make them think. It creates a watered down and boring genre.
@finomhiphopandskate8 жыл бұрын
Some BlackGuy yes but a hard instrumental gets boring after 2-3 minutes. future,thug and whoever makes trap shit job is that, make some sounds to make the shit sound"diverse" which works.It aint that i dont agree, i just can appreciate the sound of these rappers. And here i am defending trap shit while listening to lotug. Im a lowkey hypocrite
@gojoe50008 жыл бұрын
I was just introduced to trap "music" about a month ago. my new gf listens to it. It's terrible to me. I've always hated country music but i'd really rather listen to country than what this "trap music" shit is. The main song that comes to mind is that shit by Kevin Gates "Hard for", and that's prolly "light trap music". I subjected myself to about 45 mins of trap music tonight to see if i could make myself like it. what I realized is that it's just garbage. I hate it and lost respect for my gf's opinion. someone she was with before me has seriously misguided her about what music is. If you like trap music, here's a big fuck off to you, cuz it absolutely sucks, and that's the truth of the matter. if u disagree, go tell ur friends about it in ur 8th grade art class. i'll be glad in a few years when this shit's obsolete....oh wait, it already is unless ur an easily manipulated female and some meth-head convinced you that "trap music" is cool. gfto here with that shit. #truth

Glad he pointed it out. I don't care if people disagree with me either, he's absolutely right. A lot of these new guys don't have talent at all, it's the beats, it's this new trap music. I can't wait for that trend to die.

They have no talent? I disagree. They don't have great lyrics but they DO have charisma though. If a rapper with no lyrics and a lot of charisma makes you wack, then a rapper with lyrics but no charisma is wack too. I fuck with hopsin though. Even though his hooks are always below par.
@trple58 жыл бұрын
The charisma you speak of is more like "SWAG"! And swag ain't really talent! True rap or hip hop was originally about lyrical skill! That's talent! These niggas have no lyrical skill therefore no talent these days!
@zomb608 жыл бұрын
+trple5 and this swag ypu're talking about isn't charisma?
@kimbark198 жыл бұрын
no the true nature of hip going all the way back to the seventies is and always was about puttingvthe nettle to the wax and hearing good lyrics over dope beats I don't know how old you are but you rally can't see karisma on a song but you can hear true talent when a song is played nowadays the corporate entities that control the game get people with signing relentless rappers with unintelligible lyrics over autotune played repetitiously ever and over again and people mistake is for being good music it ain't got a shit to do with charisma

and what people have to realize is that trap music is not meant to be lyrical. its meant for you to jam to and wile out. not all rap music is meant for u to close your eyes and soak in the lyrics, like not every song made is meant to be serious. Trap music i put in its own category separated from rap though.

I dont see the point youre trying to make. You have any actual physical data that shows the complexion of all his fans? Or you just pulled that out of your ass? Second, what does his fanbase have to do with what he said? HE is black. He doesnt like trap music. I am white. I also dont like trap music. My friend is Vietnamese. He likes trap music. Skin color is completely irrelevant.
