When I found Band-Maid three years ago, I was all about MISA. Then, I watched Kanami close her eyes and tilt her head back and go somewhere else and shred. Then I see Akane smile while she drums her heart out and Miku goes "Po". And Saiki...well Saiki kills it with her voice. I love all of them!

Yes, Misa is very popular due to her "mysterious" gothic image and her stellar bass playing. And she is beautiful. But, I would say all the members are equally loved in this band unlike other "more known" bands in the world. That's what I love about them. No one member tries to take the center stage on this band. They are all team players. They all try to give equal time to each member.

To me MISA is so amazing because it’s so rare for the bassist in a band to STAND OUT, and she DOES. She constantly blows me away she’s SO good. Think about it how many bands have a guitarist or a drummer or a singer that stand out there’s a ton of them right? How many have a bassist that really blows you away? It’s rare, she’s a rare breed and I DIG it so heavily
@DigitalNomadInvestor4 жыл бұрын
So, so so agree with you. Her approach is almost like a lead guitarist who plays bass...plus the mix of the music has her bass "turned up" where you can hear her playing where other bands have the bass turned down and can't hear them. Her playing is savage! I love it too!

I agree 100% about the Japanese culture wanting o be the best at what they due but to take it another step I think its just they have genuine pride in their work. In fact, speaking about Marty Friedman, saw a video he made about what to expect when traveling to Japan and he said you should never tip because they consider that an insult. In their mind, they are getting paid for a service. It doesn't matter what it is, they feel they're giving you their all in whatever work or service it is and it should speak for itself. Anyway, great videos guys. Kinda stumbled in you channel and I like what y'all produce.

Onset is after the World Domination album. It was on a bonus single sold with two other singles in Japan. It should be on the new album coming in December. The three-string instrument Marty referred to is the shamisen. I have seen it used as a substitute for a banjo. They also have the koto which is also plucked strings. It lies flat and usually has 13 strings. If you like to see a band that mixes Western rock instruments with Japanese instruments like the shamisen and koto check out the amazing Wagakki band. For example "Ikusa"(war) kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2bdm2aarLOrgNk

The Japanese education system as it is, provides a LOT of funding for the arts, as well as say, "shop" classes. That's one of the reasons why there are a lot of young Japanese musicians, and you can imagine, once they start getting good at whatever they're playing, they start looking for inspiration, and KZbin provides PLENTY of anything that's come before, and they are standing on the shoulders of giants in short order. English is also a required subject at the high school level.

Unfortunately it’s true. Very few Japanese speak English. Very rare these days. A product of government not wanting to lose their culture. English has been introduced more in recent times but most millennials can’t understand or speak English. Japan has some of the best upcoming musicians in the world. Incredible prodigies in Lisa X on guitar and Yoyoka on drums (playing in international gigs,sponsorship deals,on Ellen twice,featured in NAMM 2020 in LA. Check out Petty Rock in Thailand also. As good as it gets at 7 and playing in bars at 6 at Pattaya. Stage presence now at 10. Check out Burn. 10 going on 21. She’s that good. Ayu in Indonesia too. World class. You’ll be blown away.

Kanami (lead Guitar) was watching an Eddie Van Halen Eruption solo and that's where she saw his tapping. And she started trying it herself at home 1st. Then tried it in the band in 2014. If you watch the "Thrill" video I believe that was the 1st time she used it with the group. And now she uses it a lot more often. Like in this video.
