I use the 100 gr IL BTSP for my 243 Win, and it does a fine job on deer and hogs. Also have a load made for my 25-06 Rem, with a 117 gr IL BTSP, but haven't claimed any game with that cartridge yet. Good luck and stay safe!!! 😉😉😉

Great choices! I watched one of my buddies kill a 177” mule deer in Wyoming at 350 yards with those 117’s from his 25-06. It was a slight quartering away shot and we found the bullet it the hide on the off side. In other words, they will work.

I’ve been using interlock bullets for years in 7-08 (140gr), 308 (165gr), 25-06 (117gr), 280 (162gr), 7 Rem (140gr, 154gr, 162gr, 175gr), 30-06 (165gr, 180gr, 190gr), 30-30 (150gr, 170gr), 300 Win Mag (180/190gr), 35 Rem (200gr), 35 Whelen (200gr), 444 Marlin (265gr) on a number deer, moose, elk, black bear in my last 50yrs of hunting and I’ve never lost one animal. I have used numerous other bullets also but these have always been reliable for me on game and accuracy.

My experience with Hornady Spire points goes back 40 years. For best accuracy , I usually seat them out closer to the lands.The 4350 ppwders are also good with 150g bullets in the '06.

Use the 150s in 308 exclusively for years in the whitetail woods of Wisconsin. Shots always under 200 most under 100 yards. Two rifles 16” AR10 MV around 2580. 20” bolt MV around 2800. Most pass through with minimal meat damage. When I recover them they weigh over 120 grains generally. AR shoots 2” group. Bolt gun shoots 1” most of the time. Plenty good for the task! CFE223 in both

I use the interlock bullet in my 6MM Remington (100 gr.) over IMR 4350; 270 Winchester (130 gr.) also 4350 and 30-06 Springfield but with IMR 4064. These are all developed loads for Whitetail deer which in my area dress out at 130 to 180 lbs depending on age. I try to harvest 2.5 year or older bucks. Since we have only been permitted the use of rifles for the past 4 years here in central New York; my experience is limited to 4 bucks . Al l 4 were in the 140 to 150 lbs. dressed weight each one shot kills at 50 to 70 yards and none traveled more than 50 yards after being hit. Each were harvested with the 6MM. 3 front shot crossing from one shoulder back though the heart lung area into the gut area. Tissue damage is massive resulting in loss of a complete front shoulder in each case. The 4th was quartering from mid rib catching a rib on the way in destroying the heart and lungs junction and passing through the off shoulder exiting there. I’ve not recovered any bullets yet. I don’t load any of my loads very hot as I am concerned about high velocity bullets passing through without opening up as my shot range can be quite close to no more than 120 to 130 yards. That is why I prefer traditional cup and core bullets and moderate velocity . Since I seem to generally hunt with the 6MM I’ve yet to experience the 06 or 270 but I assume they would preform similarly. Hopefully this long winded explanation helps your load development. Good luck and good hunting.

Could not get much in the way of Higher BC bullets to work out of my 300 WBY and out of desperation I tried these in 180 gr spire points. They shot under .30 sub MOA. I then Experienced a white tail hunt of a lifetime shot a doe at 350 yards and aimed at the heart and found the heart in about four pieces, exit wound was the size of a tennis ball. Later that week took a huge trophy buck at about 400 yards with the same terminal performance. No one could ever talk me into using a better higher BC bullet again. That bullet will not disappoint you.

Hornady Interlock 165 gr. BTSP over 58.5 gr. of H4350 with BR2 primer, Lapua case gives me 0.5” 4-shot groups consistently from my Browning X-bolt .30-06. It’s the most accurate load I have found for my rifle. BTW, I seat the bullet deeply enough so that only a sliver of the cannelure shows.

I used the 154 grain Interlock in my M77 7x57 for many years. They worked perfectly when driven at 2700 fps...but when I up-gunned to a 7mm magnum, they didn't perform so well. Which is to be expected, they're a cup and core construction after all.

At the public shooting range near my house, you cannot shoot cheap FMJ. I got into reloading b/c I could make 223 and 300BO SP's with Interlock bullets much cheaper than factory SP bullets. The Hornady bullets came with my press and dies for free.

Something I've noticed over and over is that I get bigger groups EVERYTIME with the best SD/ES numbers. I've never once had those shoot best initially. I always have to monkey w/seating depth thereafter. Seems like my SD/ES numbers that are slightly less desirable produce best groups at 100 yards. But, I'd take a 1" groups with an SD less than 5 at 100 yards vs a quarter inch group with an SD of 15. Then I'd test both at 500 yards.

I’ve noticed that a lot too.

Either powder would work, I've not used big game, burned lots of imr 4064 with 150s in the 06, 51 grains gets 3100 in my savage 110, 24 in shilen barrel, accuracy is in the half inch range, never felt the need to shoot the max of 52 grains, interlocks are game getters for sure

Those groups were terrible. That goes to show you that sd/es doesn't mean sh t.. It's not the bullets fault either. Those bullets are always accurate. Much more accurate/precise than what you are representing here. I don't use the 150 in a 30-06, but they work damn well in a 308 win. If you want a good bullet in the 30-06, try the 165 or 180gr interlock. If you can't work up a load that puts 5 shots into moa, you are doing something wrong.

3 shot independent events (they are not groups) are a statistical, and therefore comparative, waste of time. You're putting a lot of effort and passion into your vids, and that's great. Please stand back and get some sound experience on just what constitutes enough data for comparison and comment. This goes for all of life, btw.....
@hopefulballistics6 ай бұрын
Thanks but nope. I’ve had this argument several times already. The groups are just fine. I don’t disagree with your logic on bigger groups, but it’s not realistic. If I had plenty of time, money, etc. I would go for bigger groups. It’s not a waste of time, if you disagree that’s fine.
