The Hornby four and six wheel coaches are ideal for those who wish to operate a branch line, this wide selection of coaching stock boasts many features including authentic liveries, precision and detailed livery application, fitted and painted interiors, running boards for consumer application if desired, separately fitted chassis elements, characteristic wheel profiles, metal buffers, plus NEM couplings.
These models also feature variations that include our new Maglight system. The Maglight Lighting Unit system is a new development from Hornby that provides lighting in coaches with minimum fuss and no excessive drag. Power is provided on board the coach and not by a tension pick up on the axle. The Maglight Lighting Unit system consists of an LCD strip, small button battery and a reed switch.

I really like these coaches! I've got two in LNWR livery, I am quite fond of the plum and cream livery. I also have another one in LSWR salmon and brown livery and one other in GWR Chocolate and Cream! They are ideal for small branch line style layouts with mine and with tight curves too.

They will be a boon to people who want to have a layout in a small space. A Terrier (or similar sized tank locomotive) plus a few appropriate coaches would look like a reasonable sized train in a small space, ideally in a nice, pre-grouping livery. The Maglight system sounds interesting, although I don't tend to imagine pre-grouping trains having very bright light. There is a similar system on the market, but that is activated by vibrations. (The light goes off after a couple of minutes of non-movement). The Maglite system sounds a better bet to me because I found that every time a lorry went past outside, the lights would come one, draining the batteries.

Hi, Hornby hopes you range do well. But one question want having if want to make 6 wheel coaches down to me bigger 4 wheels now easy to take out the center wheelset on a 6 wheel coach and removable it on the Hornby? Would be nice if the coaches have the choice to light or not light like the Hatton. Where in the model did you not fix the luggage rails with the coaches. I do like the look of LNWR think of getting some but wait for the Oxford Rail 2021 future announcements. But do like the Hatton too as I order the NCB blue want will go great with your NCB brake van Hornby can't wait for your NCB brake van to come out. But the Hatton I like are (LNWR batch 1 ) (L&Y brown & umber , Midland Railway crimson lake Batch 2) (Metropolitan Railway, SDJR Batch 3) But keep safe Hornby in these hard times. In the video love the look of the LNWR, NBR. I would get the NBR if we could take out the center wheelset on a 6 wheel coaches Hornby. But keep safe in these hard times Hornby.

They are doing Great Northern Railway- it's just the GNR used varnished teak as the colouring of its' coaching stock, which the LNER also adopted for passenger stock- though as the older coaches got more tired and tatty, they were cascaded down to secondary and branch-line work, and repainted in a plain brown.

The coaches are not the same design I think there are based on the Stroudly design. But Hornby did rush to get them done Archie. Because there see how popular the Hatton one was and there copy them. As for the details, the end does not have much, and the same for the underframe details. Plus if Hornby going to have in light should make the inside has luggage rails and fix step board too model. Even the Stroudly design would have luggage rails inside. With the Hatton one, you get luggage rails and step board fix but if you don't like the step board fix who can remove them easily. With the Hatton who can put Luggage in plus, you can put passengers in it will look amazing at night. I did ask my family wants they think about the Hornby one and don't like them because the handrail wants people to used to open the door do not look right. The only one wants I would like is the LNWR as there would go well with the Hatton one. Plus the Hatton's one will be the best on details look a lot better than the Hornby. If you want to have light in some of the coaches you can not as the Brake, Baggage does not have light but doesn't worry it cost £27 plus Hornby R7338 Maglight for 4/6 Wheeled Coaches for £11 now it the same price as the Hatton one and who only get 200 hours of light. And I have look at the Hornby catalogue it like with the LNER coaches would only get 4 different coaches with a running number that it. look at the Hatton every coach has the choice to have light or not light want give the customer a better choice and you get around 6 LNER coaches with light or not light. I hope you enjoy the Hatton one Archie.T want one do you like or getting? As I got I order on (NCB Blue) if I don't get wow by the Oxford Rail 2021 future announcements. I will be looking at (Batch 1 LNWR livery) (Batch 2 L&Y brown & umber, NCB blue) (Batch 3 Metropolitan Railway, SDJR) But I think the Hatton's are the best so I will be sticking with the Hattons one. But keep safe Archie.T in these hard times.

At least Hornby have stock! I had 9 GWR Hatton's ones on pre order for 3yrs and was excited to hear the stock finally arrived only to have my entire order cancelled saying they didn't have enough stock 🤬 so I decided to get the Hornby ones after all and have both the first set of five 4 wheelers in the very early livery and now also the later release of the four set/rake of three 6 wheel and one 4 wheel with the Garter Crest, absolutely love them and they are actually really well made and great detail, so poo to Hatton's and look where they ended up! 😂

I have seen a few videos of these and I am a little disappointed to see the large gap between the axlebox and the wheels on the 6 wheel coaches which I guess is to allow them to go around tight curves, which I guess is why you showed the coaches off on the curve to minimise the gap.

@@mattlander9119 I was more interested in why make generic coaches where they're all wrong rather than do a range of accurate ones that could then have incorrect liveries applied. Atleast that way the model itself would be correct and it's the choice of the individual if they want a fictional livery application or not.

@@JAMESDEMU-RailwayModeller because each tooling investment for Hornby is about £100k minimum and ideally they'd like to make that money back and some profit.
