Horrible Death of Carmen Mory - Nazi Spy and Brutal Killing Kapo in the Ravensbrück Concent. Camp. Carmen Mory was born on the 2nd of July 1906 in Bern, Switzerland. Her father was a doctor by profession and opened a private medical practice in a famous Swiss spa town of Adelboden, which was visited by a number of very influential and wealthy people. Thanks to spa guests from all over the world Carmen learned several foreign languages. She attended a private boarding school in Switzerland and in the UK and then travelled around Europe. She had a complicated relationship with her father who described his daughter as a liar, intriguer and schemer with a defective sense of ethics. Young Carmen, on one occasion, told her friends that she wanted to live her life to the fullest and enjoy the company of men, not one but many. She had, however, 1 rule: no Jews.
In 1928 she began studying singing and music in Munich but dropped out in 1932. Her dream of becoming a singer was dashed as she was diagnosed with chronic tonsilitis and had to undergo surgery, which ultimately ended her singing career. She then moved to Berlin and started to work as an independent journalist.
On the 30th of January 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany by the German President Paul von Hindenburg. The Nazi regime quickly began to restrict the civil and human rights of the Jewish people and gradually excluded them from professions, businesses, and public spaces. Nazi propaganda became inescapable in Germany. Joseph Goebbels, head of the new Propaganda Ministry, who allegedly shared an intimate relationship with Carmen Mory, created a cult of personality that glorified Hitler as Germany’s infallible savior. The Nazis effectively used propaganda, which dominated the press, film, radio, and public spaces, to win the support of millions of Germans to facilitate persecution, war, and ultimately genocide.
Carmen became immediately attracted to the power of the Nazis and became interested in the Nazi ideology. In 1934, thanks to her contacts among the Nazi officials and her language skills, she began to work as an undercover agent for the Gestapo, the Nazi secret police. In 1937 she was sent to Paris to collect the information on the Maginot Line, which was a line of concrete fortifications, obstacles and weapon installations built by France in the 1930s to protect its border with Germany. In addition, Mory spied on various German immigrants including Max Braun, a politician who the Gestapo believed was secretly smuggling Jews out of Germany.
World War 2 started on the 1st of September 1939 when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. The German invasion of France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands started on the 10th of May 1940 and became known as the Battle of France.
On June 06, 1940, less than 3 weeks before the Fall of France, Mory, who in November 1938 had been arrested in Paris and sentenced to death for espionage, was under mysterious circumstances pardoned by French president Albert Lebrun. It is believed that she became a double agent and for the French secret service she was supposed to collect information about German agents in France.
On June 14, 1940, Paris, the French capital, fell to the Germans.
Having lost the trust of her superiors in the Gestapo, Carmen Mory was arrested by German authorities and taken to Berlin Alexanderplatz Prison for interrogation. However, she used her powers of persuasion to gain freedom and within a few weeks she was back on the streets of Berlin. In the meantime however many of her friends turned back on her as she was viewed by many as an international swindler and thief. Recognizing that she was a persona non grata she applied for a German passport so that she could return to her native Switzerland where, she hoped, nobody would know her past. Almost immediately she was caught and brought to the feared SS Obergruppenführer, Reinhard Heydrich who during the 1942 Wannsee Conference, outlined the implementation of the Final solution which the systematic extermination of European Jews.

I must confess that even though I’ve spent many yrs studying WWII, I had never heard of Carmen Mory. Her pure Nietzschean Will to Power and survival-while horrifying-are simultaneously intriguing. She seems like an individual with histrionic personality disorder: thus the “drama” and theatricality of all she did. A film should be made about her--it would be an excellent demonstration of how the incurable borderline personality disorders--in the right circumstances--can be every bit as mendacious, tenacious, obsessive, and homicidal as sociopaths and psychopaths.

You can take some solace that slitting wrists isn't NEARLY as peaceful as you've probably seen in movies. She bled out slowly on a prison house floor made of concrete and steel... chilling down to her bones over the course of several minutes even before unconsciousness could take her... She was alone, so changing her mind at any point was out of reach... In fact, as likely as not, someone knew what she was doing and ignored her. It takes more work than you'd expect to cut one's wrist BOTH deep enough and in the right direction to actually get the job done with no more than a razor blade you can hide in a shoe. AND of all of it, FIRSTLY, she had to reach a level of personal despair by which ending her own life was the only escape she could find... Even for a masochist, that's a pretty deep "dark place" into which to fall psychologically... ;o)

It was not the German people but a small percentage of them who were predisposed to such horrible acts! Compare with the Americans in the South during slavery and what they did as well as what was done to the Natives!
@chosen_remnant
@chosen_remnant 10 ай бұрын
@@roberttelarket4934Your comparison to American slavery is a horrible one and it surely was not a small percentage of people in the 30s and 40s. Had it been so, Hitler would never had risen to such prominence without hornswoggling a large percentage of the population which already had a lingering hatred for the Jews after the humiliating defeat of the great war (WW1) and the overly demeaning treaty of Versailles. Many blamed the small percentage of German Jews of "backstabbing" Germany. Hitler was one of these people. The Germans who had no hatred for Jews were still willing to tolerate nazi antisemitism. So to compare it with American slavery is quite a far stretch. Here in the US, the north went to war against the South in order to end slavery. No such thing ever happened in Germany. Outside of a few very small factions of defectors, no one ever dared question the fuhrer. With that said, the blood of the holocaust also stains the hands of those who did nothing to stop it within the borders of Germany.
