Boy, I can relate to Brown’s initial state of melancholy when finding out he had heart disease. After having a mini stroke, I felt sad and anxious. Talking to my doctor about it, he said that anxiety was a normal feeling when a person realizes he has gone from a life of being healthy to a life where you can die at any time. Then he suddenly said that could happen to anybody. So I felt better😁

It is a actually beautiful story. I don't see it as much as horror as a sort of relief of death.

I just discovered this channel and I've been making short work of it. As a long-distance trail runner in the grips of heart failure, this one hits hard.

Good story. Not sad, actually very uplifting and happy at the end. I wonder if there ever were a clerk who was paid well! Certainly not in anything I've ever read or heard of. Wonderful reading, as always.

Isn't a horror story supposed to invoke horror, rather than feelings of solace and peace? A wonderful story and a wonderful reading, as usual.

Thankful both to you and the gentleman who made the request. Scary story, but it seems the main character died in happiness. I enjoyed the story a great deal!

For as dark as the subject matter is, this story was quite pleasant and reassuring. I had an anxiety attack out of nowhere yesterday and went to the urgent care thinking I was having a heart attack. The EKG showed nothing weird (though my BP and pulse were through the roof), so I guess my ticker's fine for the time being... So yeah, it's interesting that this is the story you came out with today.

I read this as a kid in the ‘60s. I remembered his boss’s comments at the end about someone who’d work for less money.

lovely story ~ Spoiler!!! except for the last bit which destroyed the whole feeling of peace. why did he do that? also, naughty boy, why did you tell about the inevitable result? that’s quite a spoiler, too. luckily i had forgotten about it. besides the ending, i really love this story - it’s so well written - the flow of the writing and your soft, emotional reading is - well, lovely. the young man’s feeling about the girl are perfect. thanks for reading it. Blackwood has become one of my favorite writers. :) 🐈🐾🌻

Mr Blackwood...is often found wandering the outdoors...this will be great! Edit: Wonderful Print Ian! I kept thinking the girl in the green dress was a metaphor for his love of the wilderness and was convinced they found him dead on a hiking or camping trail💜
