Horses, Flowers, Turtles? Oh My!

An english garden , hmm thinking back to the one I grew up in, in the 50s & 60s, so peony roses, snow drops, clematis on one fence, sweet pea the other fence, bluebells under the tree (in next door garden and ours) , rhubarb beside the compost heap, mint beside that. Then the potato bed, lettuce, onions, carrots and radishes. The favourite for me was matthiolis bicornus planted next to lavender bush, it used to attract the moths in the evening and they in turn attracted the pipistrelles. 😅😅

Love how Eddy said a few words for the vlog! I don't like reptiles either. A memorial garden is a brilliant idea. Lovely tribute to your dad. Thanks for the concert footage - I had so wanted to come to one of your concerts but my year has gone sideways. Fingers crossed the second half of this year is better!

So nice of you to pre-prepare the soil for the turtles to lay their eggs in. My garden is mostly Australian natives, because the Tasmanian native marsupials treat introduced garden plants like salad greens. Unfortunately, this year was so dry that even the native ornamentals have been really hard browsed by the wallabies and pademelons (cat-sized little macropods). I've even lost a few large grevilleas and banksias, which are both usually pretty hardy. Climate change is really hitting hard down here. Good to see you and your boys out on the trails. That's what good weather is made for. Enjoy the long summer days.

I’m a garden designer, and you are so right about how healing gardening is. I cannot live without being in my garden. It fuels my days and brings me so much joy. Nature is amazing and the best way to spend my days. Our spring here in metro Atlanta has been truly wonderful with cooler temperatures, like you’ve had Linda. I do believe that’s about to change. Summer temps are in our forecast, but I’ll still be outside in the garden and loving it! I Enjoy your vlogs…gardening, horses, concert clips, rehearsals, etc. Hearing you sing is another great joy!

Linda! I love your garden. This vlog was definitely for the garden lovers. What a wonderful talent you have for nuturing your life space. I really appreciate your dilemma with the turtles. My place is overrun with rabbits, rabbits and baby rabbits. I'm trying to coexist with them by learning what I shouldn't plant and what is a deterrent. I have a small house but so much outside garden and work. I do love it but I bought my house when I was 38. I'm now 73. It's getting harder to maintain but I do push onward. Thanks for a wonderfully, peaceful vlog to enjoy. 🥰

It's a gift to see you happy with your horses and gardens. I also find being in the gardens of my home to be an eden for the heart and soul. Last year, to chase out unwanted critters, I took cheap white dishtowels, stained them with tea, and after line drying, cut them into multiple rectangles with ties, cut up Irish spring soap and created sachets to place in my beds and under our ramp and deck. It kept the rabbits and voles out of the yard/garden all season. So, I made new ones for the beds this year as well. Turtles can smell, so maybe try it? Some people just scatter the soap around, but you have dogs who might decide to try it. I like the sachets, as they can blend in with the soil or hardwood mulch. I'm sorry you've been ill again & you love honey...Here's something I recently was gob-smacked to learn...if you use a metal spoon to spoon serve honey, it kills any medicinal benefit. You must use wood or plastic...I mean, who knew?! Now I get why honey is sold in plastic bear containers! Thanks for vlogging:)

Thinking of you today and this being the first of the firsts. It is hard, I know very well and the pain will lessen as time goes by, but not completely. I think about certain days each year, parents birthdays, death dates and their anniversary. I know you miss your dad, thank you so much for sharing him and your mom with us. I was at the SHU concert last night. You are amazing ! People all around me were cheering every song, me too ! The rain coming through the ceiling around one of the lights, was concerning ! The flood more concern ! Some of us were thinking the show would be postponed again. Thank you so much for a great evening !

Found this: “Snapping turtles movement can be curtailed by embedding stream banks with large rocks to inhibit access to nesting areas.” Linda: Unless your border with the stream is very long, this could be done and could pay dividends for years. You’d have to get a load of rocks delivered and placed. Size matters; large enough they can’t climb/scramble over them.

I’m so sorry to hear that you seemed to think you got Co-Vid Again!, (my brother works a lot and he’s gotten Co-Vid 3 times!), I’ve only had it once so far but it is unpleasant, I would say I lost my sense of taste but everything I ate tasted like $#!+ so Did I lose my sense of taste?🤷🏻‍♀️😄 I hope your Mom is doing as well as can be expected.

OMGGG sick again...I must tell you I had a similar sinus thing...no taste, smell..but I tested 3 times...wasn't Covid....went to Dr it was bronchitis...3 weeks and still not in good singing voice...but it's coming back...feel better my dear! 🤞🤞🤞🤞❤️
