Very nicely fabricated mobile workshop with everything you need. Any spare hoof clippings will be appreciated by the local doggies no doubt. It's a wonder farriers don't collect them as a profitable sideline to be sold on Sundays by the roadside coffee stall LOL.

Oh my God you're a genius using that old ring to hold the hair up is inspired! For years I have been using duct tape or plastic wrap and not been happy with the result I am definitely going to find a few rings in the proper size and you some from here forward

I enjoy watching your videos it reminds me of about 65 years ago when I watched horses being shod at a stable close to my home. A thought that I had about frequently asked questions so you don’t have to answer them all the time would be to do this. If you put a little section describing the video such as you have here and with a few words like “ frequently asked questions before you ask, read the top 10 questions I am asking constantly and the answers are below.” This probably will save you a lot of time, people can look at the frequently asked questions solve their own dilemma and you can go on about your work, thank you very much for your videos

Apologize if you've already answered these but: 1. How many horses would you say you Farry (idk if that's the verb) a day on average, seems like you make quick work of it with your skill 2. If a horse were to be left with old horseshoes on too long, would the nail overgrow the shoe or would the hoof just push the shoe out more. Thanks, love your videos

Great video! Like most other commenters - i have never really been around horses, in my work as an electrition i was warned multiple times of horses when installing lighting in stables that they are some of the nastiest creatures around, biting kicking out of nowhere etc. Having stumbled onto your channel through recommendations (the seedy toe video) has given me a deeper understanding of how and why you shoe a horse and horses in general, and it really is interesting to see it done. I commend you for "flipping" the gopro footage too as i had not even noticed it untill you mentioned it. However i have two questions that are constantly nagging me that i have yet to see answered In your videos: 1. Old nailholes? How long do they take to close and does leaving them open to the elements like this not allow moisture and dirt to get into the toe? 2. You mentioned your rate for a "standard shoeing - no extras" in a previous video. How many - on average - horses do you do a month? is the market for this big enough to support full time jobs still and is it on the decline at all? Thanks and keep going strong.

The holes don't close they grow out. It makes no difference if anything gets in the old holes. I probably only do 10 a week these days as i'm only part time now but it supports me and my family ok. Certainly not in decline.

I have a question about the furry at the ankles horses you shoe. Why don't families trim up the hair or maybe do little fur ponytails before you come? Wouldn't that help you work?

people like long feathers on their heavy horses, and in the winter it keeps the mud from their heels. I just use a band to hold them up out of my way.

I heard the frog is spongy because it also helps pump the blood back up the leg . Is this true or was i taken for a ride ?

Absolutely correct, it also adds traction gripping the road but this is reduced in shod horses as the frog is often lifted clear by the shoe.

It’s called a chestnut, they say it’s a vestigial digit. They usually fall off on their own but on these heavier horses they often need trimming.

I think it may be the same case of the front feet being larger and the back feet being smaller like with my dog. Some are all the same or half are different. Could be wrong tho. (For reference, my dog has a .25" difference from his front legs vs his hind legs) its curious 🤔

One of the things that always surprises me is the horse doesn't seem to mind any part of the process. I would have thought there might be some anxiety when the shoe is hot fit just because of the smell. That nodule that you removed further up from his right rear hoof, what was that?

Khatijah Rahmat students use real legs cut from dead horses, once they have been shod so many times they are then used for dissection. Yes, we work quite closely with vets.
