THE BEST VIDEO TUTORIAL ON DRIP SYSTEM INSTALLATION! I have watch other videos...it's either they explain the procedure so fast, not detailed, or I just couldn't understand as a newbie on drip systems.....JIM, thank you so much....your patience, your attention to details is just amazing and awesome! That is why I always find you on youtube when I need something to work on my garden, and I am not sure....Your PART 1 was very informative, I never knew how to install a drip system or what it was actually.....It;s only now year 2020, that I learned what it is and how to do it! Thank you so much!

Jim, complete newbie over here! 🙋🏻‍♀️ My husband & I are new home owners and I must say, your videos are so informative and easy to follow! We have many established beds on our property and I'm learning new things each day to help keep them looking their best, with your help of course! We have a large garden that we may try to tackle this year. We have very dense, clay soil and, after watching your other soil amendment videos, I feel better prepared to take on this challenge! Now, with this new two-part video about the drip lines, I think this task will become even easier! We currently have a 100' hose that *just* makes it out to where the garden is. After watching this tonight, I'm going to try your method instead of dragging that heavy hose out there EVERY day! 😳🙄😂 Keep up the good work! Sending many thanks from PA 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I'm glad you're doing a drip video. Drip is sooo much more water efficient than sprinklers, not to mention easier to repair if something breaks. I've got a pretty huge drip system at my house now, somewhere around 7000 feet of tubing installed to irrigate about 15,000 sq feet of garden. I have hundreds if not thousands of plants and my water bill during the summer is maybe $100-$120/mo and about $60-80 of that is irrigation. Keep in mind that I live in inland San Diego which is basically a desert where get zero rain and temperatures average 90 deg from July-Sept. I know people who have sprinklers here that regularly spend over $400-500 a month on much smaller properties.

I have several raised beds that we walk between quite a bit and I also have arbors that I would like to go up and around so I don’t t have to bury or walk on the tube. Can I go from main 17mm line to the 1/4 pre-holed line, back to a no holes 1/4 line to go up and over the arbor, back to pre-holed 1/4 line and then back again to 17mm line so that I irrigate all my beds without having to bury so much tube? Essentially, I’d have to sandwhich the emitter lines between main lines and blank 1/4 line. Is this ok? I have pea gravel on weed barrier...so I’m not sure how much hiding of ground tube I can do.

Hey Jim, a couple of questions:1.) I just bought some Shrubs (Loropetalums, Junipers, Nandinas, and Sky Pencils) and I haven't planted them yet and they are still in their pots... due to some circumstances, it's probably gonna be close to 3 weeks before they go in the ground. We are regularly having 90 degree days in my part of NC, so how often do I need to water them over the next 3 weeks until I plant them if we have no rain in sight?2.) I also planted some Blue Rug and Angelica Blue Junipers, Loropetalums, Globosa Nana Cryptomeria back in January and was wondering since this is their first year in the ground and it's regularly in the 90's and rarely any rain in sight, how often should I water them this year until they get established pretty good?Thanks!

Oh wow... once a day? I would've thought that would be too much but since your the Professional I know you know what you're talking about. Is it because the planting mix that's in the pots drains so easy and doesn't hold water compared to being in the ground?

I don’t like this kind of thinner tubing you are using because there isn’t always a plant every six inches. It wastes water and you will get more weeds. One main purpose of drip irrigation is to use less water and not waste it by watering during the day. When setting the timer no one mentions that watering should be done by 7-8 am so it doesn’t just evaporate like it would if watering were done during mid-day.
@JimPutnam
@JimPutnam 3 жыл бұрын
I only use the thinner tubing in the vegetable garden where plants are closer together. You can also get the tubing with drippers spaced further apart

Beware when someone tells her trip irrigation simple. Lots of mistakes here. He pulls out his pipe from the wound up coil. Installers all know it’s necessary to roll out the pipe to avoid tangles. Pulling out the pipe is how inexperienced installers do it. This guy knows something, but I wonder Why he is making such basic mistakes in the video.
