I love the heavy chipping on the armor. It ties them all together and makes them look raw and aggressive. Also those lightning bolts absolutely pop, specially on the tanks!

I will definitely be borrowing your blue recipe. Although I might adjust the purple just a touch for a deeper blue hue. I've been trying to figure out for ages how to achieve the blue that I envision and yours is sooooo close. Keep it up!!

Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear I could help out! One thing about the purple Contrast paint I used is that it's very heavy in pigment, so you might want to dilute the whole mix a bit more (unless you prefer it more opaque).

@@KabinMiniatures I use the AK interactive paint Dark Prussian Blue with a highlight of AK Deep Blue. It has just enough of the nice purple hue you mentioned than other blues I've found just don't quite have. That contrast mix you made is just perfect imo

Really love the content. Here some ideas: throphys (skulls, skin, hemelts), helmetless heads, Terror Squads, a "character" per squad. A legionar with special features

Thank you so much! Great ideas for sure 👍 I intentionally kept the Tactical Squads relatively plain, but when it comes to specilaists like Terror Squads, Veteran Squads, Atramentar etc. I plan to convert them/give them some extra bits to stand out!

Very cool concept, sort of like the Troll Brute in the Hobbit! I've already established the background for my Contemptor Dreadnought (see part 3 of this series) but maybe for a Leviathan Dreadnought in the future? 🤔

These look great! Can't wait to see how you develop your army. Have you put any thought into what kinds of centurions you want to put in? I think a moritat could be a really fun way to incorporate a bit more "edginess" as well as giving you a chance to try some slight variations to your armour scheme!

Thank you so much! Night Raptors are definitely in the pipeline for this force eventually! I made a vote on what to paint next over on the community tab, and right now the Dreadnought option is winning. So that's probably going to be my next addition 👍

I'm not sure why you did chipping before you attached the transfers

Since I used a hobby knife to score the transfers, in my book, they are applied with chipping already done. Also, it's easier to do the metallic chipping before painting all the other details, to avoid overspill. But for sure, there are plenty of other ways of doing it!

Did you try GW Contrast Leviadon Blue, but chance? Was it too dark?

I don't have Leviadon Blue at the moment, so I can't compare it to my recipe. But from the looks of it, I think it could probably be a good shade for Night Lords! 👍

Can you please tell me what PSI, needle size and approx. distance from the model you spray at for the varnish process? Still trying to dial it in myself. I want a general matt appearance without sucking all the color out of the model. I have had some issues in the past with losing color vibrancy as well as slight frosting. I've started to thin the varnish (1:1 or 3:1 matt to satin) 50:50 with thinner (4:1 thinner to flow improver) which has helped, but I still get some frosting/discoloration. I think I may be spraying too far away. Should the model be noticeably wet when spraying, etc? Thanks!

I spray at about 20-30 PSI when I varnish and spray relatively close, maybe 10-20 cm away. I let the model get wet, yes, and I dilute the varnish with normal water. Not sure about the ratio, I try to get it to a "milky" consistency. For me, I find that 50/50 matt and satin gives the right balance between colour saturation and finish.

@@SobotRex One coat only, normally. However I sometimes add other varnish coats at earlier stages in the painting process too.

@@SobotRex Good luck! I had trouble with varnish in the past (using spray cans and paintbrushes) but the airbrush really does the trick for me 👍
