There can never have been a point in the history of everything that there was TRULY nothing. If there was TRULY nothing, ABSOLUTELY nothing at all (no energy, no matter, no space, no fields, no dimensions etc.) then it would remain nothing forever because there would be nothing to cause a change.

If you listen to neuroscientist, psychologist & philosopher of mind Iain McGilchrist - who is significantly more qualified than either of these 2 - he explains that physicts don't actually know what matter IS. Particles and/or waves are interpretations derived from mathematical models - we do not understand their actual real-lfe ontology. We are mapping their behaviour & states, not describing what their fundamental nature is. And as McGilchrist argues - explaining what matter is is every bit as perplexing as trying to explain what conciousness IS (which is what I study in my PhD - we have absolutely no idea what conciousness is either). Physics describe matter as anything which occupies space & has mass. This isn't an explanation of what matter is but what it's properties and attributes are. Science is a process that measures & predicts states of change through mathematical models of abstraction. But measuring and predicting in laboratory environments doesn't explain what things fundamentally are in actual existence - just like Google maps will give you useful information allowing your movement through a 3 dimensional world - but the map is a representation of the world, not a explanation of actual reality. We don't know anywhere near as much nor possess the certainly Gervais does - he doesn't adequately understand physics to offer any useful insight. Although I do love his work as a comedian!

That is a total misrepresentation of science...scientists prove what we do know and utilise hypotheses to attempt to understand what we don't, at no point does any scientist rely on a miracle, the fact that we are communicating through the Internet right now is evidence enough of the utility of the scientific method, if the current hypothesis on any matter is disproved it is amended immediately to reflect that which is provable, at no point does science claim to know everything, it's such a hypocritical, regressive cop out to pretend science is fallible whilst using a smart fone, driving a combustion engine, having indoor plumbing, turning electricity into lamplight etc etc etc....if u were truly of the opinion science is wrong u would not be communicating here, it's only wrong for u when it clashes with ur personal beliefs, instead of denigrating science it would make much more sense to lobby ur religion to take into account recent advances in knowledge, like has happened countless times throughout the history of Christianity for example

Ones belief is in and infinite being that has infinite knowledge and understanding of existence and that which could exist. Only God can make the infinitely possible, probable. Your catechism is but the briefest summation for a limited creation. Humanity is limited. Yet when you’re lost in an unknown cosmos, with billions of others who all say I don’t know the way and one man says I can lead you all home. Logic, probability and survival, dictates I have to follow that one who claims to know and be the way.

@@retroray58warby98 It is simply a logical conclusion based on the observations around us. Something cannot come from nothing. There is order in the universe such as the speed of light being a constant. That is clear design. You cannot disprove or prove God however, that level of information is simply beyond us for now, we haven't even travelled to the bottom of our oceans let alone past the moon (allegedly). @@purpleprinc3 This is probably beyond the limits of this medium of exchange for this discussion (no offense) but here's a beginning: "time" is a misnomer. the fabric of the Universe is a complex interwoven / interactive Em-Tension field. The Universe we observe and exist within is a complex pattern of inertial states of wave forms rippling through the 'fabric'. "Time" is a relative relation of one complex portion of ripples as to another. In an expanded reference frame this becomes sets of harmonics and rhythm where space between the resonances and sets of harmonics is "time". This can be compared mathematically and conceptually to notes aligning (expanding - contracting) forming chords and phrases in symphony. visualize a piano string now compress the string in a twisting fashion When the compression removes any and all "space" from all and any pattern or potential for motion there is a remainder of void that has specific relational physics (causality). This relationship is what pi; Euler; etc(expansion / contraction) are from. The string in a "flattened" state represents what we label as "dark matter". There is nothing there but Em-Tension (Gravity) As the pattern re-expands into it's self it becomes the "string" formed in exactly the way it must be to vibrate in harmony (harmonics) with the process of expansion / spin - compression / spin. This conserves angular Frequency (Omega) & P(momentum)& L(angular momentum or potential). The Universe that you "see" and experience is the music (light) that is the effect of the motion (vibration) of the "string". Nothing is really there. The very same harmonics coincides with psychology as others are beginning to stumble into exposing: Penrose-Hameroff consciousness kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnjFmHecaa12frc

@JMW-ci2pq 3 ай бұрын
@@purpleprinc3 Consider the Universe as one moment. Just as a particular symphony is played as one musical experience wherein each instrument is playing chords and notes that all align in accordance to rules of harmonics producing a cohesive sound. Each individual note on each individual string or horn or fabric; flute; etc represents a collection of "moments" that form a larger moment. "Time" is both something unique to each and contiguous as the one shared moment. The appearance of "matter" is layered light in just this way. Nothing is actually there but the EM fabric that is being identified as space-time. We observe the effect that is this light rippling through the fabric.

Everyone in the world - 9 billion of us - (if you took away all the space between the atoms) would fit inside a sugar cube. A neutron star is just neutrons, which is why a spoonful of it would weigh 20 billion tonnes - that should tell you how dense it is. But that's JUST a neutron star. The neutrons themselves can be crushed down further to quarks (we think), and EVEN THEN ON to what matter is itself. THIS is why it can be so small.

The idea that, "God did it," may be easier to comprehend but it doesn`t actually explain anything other than, "a supernatural entity we call God did it." Thousands of years of rigorous scientific observations & the scientific method (a form of reasoning: see Karl Popper) & most people are still unable to get their heads around the basics. SMH.

@@brianpark8758 Perhaps you have done too much ‘shaking your head’ to think critically. Atheists will strongly object to and even rail against: “You shall have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20: 3 And yet they make a god of science (which in reality is the activity of Man in our struggles to understand the nature of things and how they work and often times getting things totally wrong and sometimes getting there through trial and error) and make bold statements akin to “Science doesn’t work like that and you shall have no other science but our interpretation.” Science ought to be based on hard facts and evidence and NOT on the fantasy stories of Larry Krauss who makes a very nice living out of exploiting the gullible with his sci-fi BS. NOTHING produces NOTHING. It needs SOMETHING to produce SOMETHING. Despite the just-so stories of some ‘scientists’ who insist - flying in the face of the facts - that the Universe has always existed the fact is entirely different. For SOMETHING e.g. the Universe to come into existence there has to be a CAUSE (that’s a science fact) and the CAUSE must be greater than that which the CAUSE CAUSED to come into existence - and that CAUSE must exist outside of Time, Space, and Matter. So, whether you like it or not (liking has nothing to do with it) or believe it or not (your unbelief i.e. you denial doesn’t change the facts) the Universe had a CAUSE and that CAUSE is God who exists outside of Time, Space and Matter but who at certain points in history entered the material realm e.g the Incarnation of Jesus Christ and intervened in the affairs of Man….for our benefit. And He is going to keep His promise to return and put this mad mad mad bad bad world right. Having said that, IF you have HARD FACTS and evidence for how and when and by what mechanism the Universe came into existence - let’s hear it.

God is such a lazy excuse for people who can't comprehend how complex the universe really is they grasp it a bit but not fully hence they go god. God is easier to comprehend to you it doesn't make the most sense to say god did it.

@dennisgoatimer1079 who said anything about books... but since you would like to talk about books, how many of the physicists agree with each other in their books... quantum mechanics, M theory, String Theory...?

“Nothing’s sacred.” according to the atheist, but God is. Einstein’s theory of the universe was mathematically flawed, but he had a slightly better idea than Karl Pilkington.

if nothing happens then there's no causality. this happens at both scales of density. too dense and nothing moves, far enough apart, all the energy gradients flatten out, no Brownian motion, nothing happens no time.

Why did you cut the video half way through, when it was getting interesting? What is the point of that? And to boring questions about time travel. What a shame you can't be bothered to follow up your interest in science, but try and make dumb jokes. Waste of time.

Man just made a scale to measure time , if time doesn't exist ,nothing exists ,but if nothing exists ,how long does it exist for ? Time always exists .

I know this ain’t gonna be a popular suggestion, but I’mma make it anyway because I genuinely care. I’ve tried to think of the most digestible way to approach this and I think referring you to Jordan Peterson’s lecture might be the the best way. Science has lost its moral compass - and lost almost all credibility. So, a review of the information available is, at the very least, prudent...don’t you agree? Anyway, here you go.
