Hostages (Operation Jupiter) - Atari ST (1988)

"Hostages" ( Operation Jupiter in France), released on Atari ST in 1989, is the ancestor of "Rainbow Six " 's games .
You take the control of GIGN's squad (french special unit) who is facing a hostage-taking in an embassy .
The game is divided into several phases:
- The placement of snipers to theirs shooting positions
- The elimination of terrorists by snipers
- The deployment of the assault group in the building where it is necessary to save the hostages and bring them to safety in a room on the 3rd floor and eliminate terrorists .

That seemed incredibly realistic to me at that time. I loved the Music at the beginnig as well very much!

I was a six year old girl when I played this with my brothers. You think any game has had the possibility of scaring me as much ever since? The music at the beginning is basically a trigger even now

Hugely underrated game this. Absolute belter with so much atmosphere the gameplay and music and sound effects are superb. I really think it deserves so much more press.

Oh yeah, brings me back ! ..... Way to win was to get snipers observing all sides of the building. They would give you the info on that " radar" in the top left corner. Else you were doomed because aiming with the joystick was VERY hard. (the guy moved with arrow keys)
