I've never commented on a recipe before and I've tried many different hot dog bun recipes. This recipe provided a truly remarkable batch of buns! They were so good that the very next day I used it to make an incredible batch of hamburger buns. A day later I added 100g of my sourdough starter and adjusted the flour and liquid quantities to account for it. Also, I substituted buttermilk for the whole milk. That batch of buns was a big hit at a potluck luncheon. Thank you, sir, for the best bun recipe I've come across in my long, long life!

My First attempt at making these turned out wonderful. The slow eye's roll of wow, The taste & texture was incredible. No comparison to shop rolls. They were so good, I didn't even bother putting anything in them, just butter. Just wanted to enjoy the texture and flavour. All good .....I tuned the recipe the 2nd time to 90% composition to meet my oven chamber height .....I'm using a wide commercial deck oven. I have made them going on a dozen times and they always turn out perfect. The last couple times I have made them using my sourdough starter “Blob” instead of dry yeast which means they take a bit longer to rise but the taste and texture is freaking out of this world.

Just finished eating some of your whole wheat bread and it was wonderful. I loved it with butter but even more with some homemade kumquat/tangerine marmalade. Used this recipe for hot dogs and also to make split cream iced fingers (split down the middle, layer of jam, whipped cream on top of the jam then either sprinkle with icing sugar or dip them in a layer of donut glaze made from icing sugar and milk) the kids loved them.

Hi John, I have a very serious complaint about these hot dog buns. I made them today, and they came out looking just beautiful. However, the ENTIRE house smelled of incredibly delicious rolls, and I had to wait an entire HALF AN HOUR before I could touch them! That is cruel, John, cruel. Possibly even against the Geneva Conventions. Once we dug into them, they tasted even better than they smelled. Oh, thank you for this recipe. But the next time I make it, I'm going to make arrangements to be OUT of the house while they cool down! Catherine

Unless one is paying close to 5 dollars for 8 hot dog buns you're getting garbage and that's a fact. You can make this for a fraction of the cost. Yes, it takes time but if you have time all you need to make this is a bowl and spoon. Mix it till flour can't be seen, cover it and put it in the fridge to rise. The next day you'll have the best tasting dough to make your hot dog or hamburger buns. No knead bread can be any bread. All you need is TIME and TIME will do all the hard work plus enhances flavor. Nice job. I recently made some and I shaped mine and baked them in my glass corn stick pans. They turned out perfect. I did not use your recipe. I had not found your channel at that time. I like using my bread machine for my doughs as doing them by hand is difficult. I am 86 years old. I will no doubt be trying some of your recipes over time.
