let me get this straight, you turn a 25cents bag of Frito chips into a $4 meal by putting chili and cheese into THE BAG! a stroke of GENIUS!! how did you come up with that! You Weren't afraid people would laugh at you and say "You're CRAZY!"which you weren't! But man, how did you come up with $4 and not $2 0r $3. iF i had done this I'd have said I'll be lucky to get 2$, maybe $3, but NEVER $4! How many of those do you sell each night? I'm just blown away! Yes, I guess that's the difference in a true dogger and a dogger wanna be. You ARE ! DAN THE MAN!!:) you amaze me brother!Can't wait till June 14th to see you back out dogging and see another one of your GENIUS creations:) keepem comin!

Value is subjective. When drunk people are hungry at midnight, and all of the restaurants are closed, $4 is cheap. ;-) Unfortunately, the bar took on some damage as a result of the recent riots, so the opening date was extended to July 4th.... BUT, its still less than a month away, so Itll be here before you know it! Thanks for sticking with me!

Dan I got my cart out the other day for the first time here in Memphis we hit the park things are a little slow right now but I thought what better time to get acquainted with my cart. We did $28/hr and it was slow as hell. I enjoyed the experience, working for yourself is a beautiful thing. I can't wait for things to ramp up. Your videos helped me. Real world video.

Dan I don't see any condiments. Do you have them set to the side? if so, what type of condiments do you provide? I assume the customers serve themselves and are free to use as much as they wish on their dogs.
@HotDoggingwithDan
@HotDoggingwithDan 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there is a table set up next to the cart. Condiments are set up on the front end of the table and I allow the customer to dress however they want. This helps in traffic management by moving the customers to the front of the cart to add condiments, making room at the back of the cart (where i stand) so the next customer in line can move up and place their order. Only condiments I put out are shredded cheese, diced onions, jalapeños, banana peppers, ketchup, mustard, relish, and mayo (in the squeeze bottle).

Hey Dan, wondering if most people leave a tip when using a card to pay?
@HotDoggingwithDan
@HotDoggingwithDan 3 жыл бұрын
Almost everyone. I use square, which specifically asks for a $3 tip, and gives them the option to change it if they want. Almost everyone just clicks through on $3 and signs for it.

I'm a hotdog vendor and very happy I'm cash only. Debit or credit would be a pain in the butt. Especially over $3.50. I don't think the fees are worth it.
@HotDoggingwithDan
@HotDoggingwithDan 4 жыл бұрын
Its different for everyone, but I can say that for me, accepting cards is a big reason that I make as much as I do. Most of my customers don't carry cash. Not accepting cards would drastically effect my revenue. Truth be told, the 3% fee is nothing compared to the additional revenue and convenience that it offers. Look up Square. Its worth it.

The extra sales would cover any fees..I never have cash...use a debit card to buy coffee. I went to hot dog vendor the other day. His dogs are $6 he doesn’t take cards. Lost a sale.

So are the Buns being kept steamed in the container? Or are they just stored in there? I like the idea of just doing chili and cheese on the cart and let them put the rest of the condiments on it. Seems to work out pretty good for you.
@HotDoggingwithDan
@HotDoggingwithDan 4 жыл бұрын
I just store them in that container... no heat. The heat from the hot dogs keeps the entire cook area warm, so the buns stay nice and warm, even without the direct heat.

@HotDoggingwithDan
@HotDoggingwithDan 4 жыл бұрын
Because I lease the cart, I operate under the cart owners permits, so I didnt have to get any permits myself. The cart owner had to get a retail permit and an inspection and certificate from the health department.

Dan, do u steam the buns? Leave in a 6 inch over direct heat or use no heat? Or how u do ur buns?
@HotDoggingwithDan
@HotDoggingwithDan 4 жыл бұрын
Just put them in the container and close the lid... the heat from the dog pan warms the buns to a perfect temp.
