You should have used the clutch safety switch as your ignition cut…. That way it helps with full throttle shifts as well as shoots flames when you do! Great video!!!

It looks really cool. I have the Torch Flame Thrower kit for my C7. Looks pretty much like the kit you have. I didn’t realize how involved it is to in stall!

My pleasure! Thank you for showing this video on how to install the kit! I don’t install mine yet. I’m getting Speed Engineering long tube headers with X Pipe all cat deletes. Once I get those installed I’ll look into installing the Torch Flame kit.

I always thought that guys did flamethrower by adding some kind of propane injection to the tip of the exhaust pipe with a spark plug to ignite it. That’s not how they do flamethrowers?!

There are some setups that do involve doing such a thing or just dumping fuel from the fuel tank directly in to the exhaust for reallllly big flames

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Some guys ran similar setups like that in the old days. Hotlicks even has blueprints/plans you can buy to shoot 6 foot flames. That requires a separate fuel tank and fuel injectors that go into the exhaust, just like you're talking about.

Hahaha thanks! I'll have to do an update video, I've used the flames like 80 or 90 times over the last 2 years, its been great. But this weekend I went out for a night photoshoot, drove the car for a few hours with some hard pulls and multiple flames. Well I turned my mufflers into balloons 😅😅 they must have been super hot, and couldn't handle the percussion. They are creased and rippled at the edges, and it tweaked the exhaust tips lol.

In neutral all you gotta do is get the rpms up to 4k or whatever you feel comfortable with then hold the button in then smash the gas to the floor then while still holding the gas down let off the button around 2k then catch the rpms at 4k sounds scary but really isn't once you get the hang of it then you can sit there and put on a show but when you're done you wanna let the rpms die down then let off the gas before the button or it will backfire

@@TheKingCoopa correct the rpms will go back and forth between where you choose to catch it and where you choose to release it. Also you don't have to mash the pedal to the floor but the more gas you give it the bigger the flames. If you wanted to test it just too see while in neutral you can just get the rpms up to 4k or so then hold in the button you gotta let the rpms drop to about 2k or even alittle lower then release the button if you release the button with the rpms up too high it will backfire. You shouldn't have to go lower than 2k when you release buy every car is different.

Hey, have you verified that the engine is cutting out, and the rear sparkplug are working? Also if you still have the catalytic converters it won't work. If you're sitting still, just keep the car in park/neutral. Rev the rpms up high. Hit the killswitch/flames, push the gas pedal to WOT. It will take a second or two for the fuel to get to the rear sparkplug. Once your rpms drop to 1000 or 1500, let off the gas and button. You can rev it back up and repeat the process. While sitting still you can only shoot flames in short bursts. If your driving, its the same concept, but you keep the car in the desired manual gear so the rpms are high. Or for auto you shift it to 2 or 1 depending on your speed. If you're rolling, the cars momentum will help the rpms hang longer whole you're shooting flames. Hope that helps, if not, there is probably something wrong with your system/install.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. But im gonna say no. The catalytic converters job is to trap unburnt fuel. So if it does get through and shoot flames, they are probably going to be super small

Hey, nice car! So with the gen IV LS motors, I believe your coil packs will still have the pink power wires that supply power to all your coil packs. You fuse box pins will be completely different than mine, since it was for a 99 corvette. I would trace your coil pack power wires from the coil packs, back as far as you wanna make the connection. Some of the newer vehicles I've herd had two pink power wires, like mine. Bit I've also herd there is a pink power wire for each coilpack. So you would have to splice into those 8 power wires. Sorry, but I hope that helps!

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Depending on your mods and exhaust setup, people can get their 2 step to shoot flames. But I've only seen one person do a combo, 2step and flame thrower kit. It was a little indepth and complicated to get them to work in unison, but anything is possible.

looks sick man! i want to do this on my n52 bmw but no videos out there, and im not sure how to find the ignition wire that cuts ignition to all 6 coil packs. any tips on how to find it?

Oh nice, that would be sweet. I have zero knowledge on bmws. But im sure you could find it on Google with enough research about ignition troubleshooting. But what helped me, I have the service-tech, GM service manuals for my vett and silverado. They are massive, 3 hole punched, and 1000s of pages. The mechanics at the dealers use them. It tells you every single detail about the car. Wire schematics and all. But they are in a 3 to 5 book set, and cost about 300$ to 500$ for them. Im sure BMW has the same thing for their cars.

Look at the coil plugs.. you should only have 2 wires going to each one. Test it with a multimeter to find the positive ignition wire

Hey, sorry for the late reply. A couple things could happen. It could blow the cats out. It definitely won't shoot flames with the cats installed. But most likely they will get clogged and the car will probably run like absolute trash. I wouldn't recommend it though untill you remove the cats.

Hey, usually spark plugs in the engine will get heavily saturated in carbon, being all black. the prong will start to get a little thin. Super old sparkplugs you can see the porcelain start to fade or turn a little brownish. If you talking about for the flame thrower kit, I wouldn't worry to much about them getting old or over used. Sparkplugs are designed to work for a long time and constant use. The flame thrower sparkplugs will only get used so often in short bursts. So it would really take ALOT of flames to wear those spark plugs down. You can even test them from inside the car. Just out the key to the run position (car off) and hit the flames button. You can hear the sparkplugs working in the rear. Sounds like loud buzzing electricity. Hope that answers your question 🤘

Just added this kit to my Hellcat a few days ago and trying to figure this out as well, I don't think my flames shoot out as big as those or even that long. I need someone to follow me and record while I play around and learn it...

Yea. Having an outside video/someone to film helps. Did you remove the cats? If you do it rolling, you should beable to hold it for atleast 7-8 seconds

@@bubba9850 generally speaking, yes. The catalytic converters job is to trap unburnt fuel, and help reduce emissions. If the catalytic converter is still on the car, it won't allow the fuel to get to the exhaust tip to create the flame. If you try it with them still on, they will probably end up getting clogged and make the car run bad. It will probably throw some check engine light codes also.

Fresh air needs to enter the exhuast. Maybe a bigger tip or smaller on and moving the plug closer to the end of the tip.

Hey, the install procedure should be the exact same. Pretty sure the C5 ls1 gen III coil packs are interchangeable with the 4.8/5.3/6.0 gen III coilpacks so the wiring should be the same. But on some of the gen IV motors I've herd you have to wire each individual coil pack to the flame switch. I'll be adding 2step/launch controle onto my single cab, so hopefully it will beable to do natural 2 step flames 😅 But you should definitely add one to yours! I love it. I shoot the flames almost every time I drive it. Definitely an attention gainer. Its also fun to use for a little intimidation factor while crazing around haha. I'm sure with your channel and following, it would be some good content you can use frequently. Thanks for the support!

so what if your and automatic and on the highway would it be much better to put it in neutral and get the rpms up or say your on the streets could u just do it in neutral or do you have to go to manual

Hey, sorry for the late reply. You can do it either way. Whatever works best for you or is the easiest. Personally I like to keep it in gear/manual, that way the RPMs hang longer so I can shot flames for a longer period of time. But manual isn't overdrive, so you might not bable to do it wile going 70mph on the highway. In that case, you can do neutral, just in short bursts because the rpms fall alot faster in neutral. Hope that helps!

I have a stock C6 GS with stock exhaust, would the flame thrower system work on it ? And is there any risk on the engine ?

Hey, sorry for tge late reply. The stock exhaust is fine, but you HAVE to have the catalytic converters removed. Or it won't work and you will just cause issues. Realistically the engine will be fine. If you use it alot, it could cause the spark plugs to fowl out.

So hiw many cylinders dont get fuel? If all...wouldnt the engine just shut off? Or just 4 cylinders get shut down?

Hey, sorry for the late reply! All the cylinders shut off. When I hit the flames button it cuts power to all they coil packs. so theoretically there is no combustion when I hit the flames, but the electric system, battery, alternator, fuel injectors, are all still working/spinning. When I let off the button, the spark plugs kick back on and everything picks right up, like nothing happened. Hope that makes sense haha.

@@autogeek23 if you hold the flames button untill the rpms reach 0, it will definitely be off and you will have to restart it haha. I usually let off the flames around 1000 rpms, to prevent that. The corvette is currently put up for the winter, but no engine problems so far, and I use the flames quite a bit haha. I do forsee some transmission problems though 😅

Hey, glad I could help out. I dont know anything about BMWs, but this is a universal kit. So theoretically, you just need to find a way for your switch to kill power to the spark plugs. I would find the main power wire for your coilpacks, and use that. If there isn't a single main wire, you might have to splice all 6 or 8 wires together, then run it to your switch (depending on your motors cylinder count). As long as its the main power wire. And not the "spark signal" wire. You splice all those together and your engine won't run lol. Sorry not much help, but thats the best I have for you. Good luck, and let me know how it goes 🤘

Hi! So i have a L99 camaro automatic with longtube headers. I am gonna remove the highflow cats but would this damage my engine since I have the stock AFM lifters? And is this system risky for a stock engine?

And I forgot to say that I have a cutout exaust with control to open and close it. Will the flame kit damage it or is it save for that?

Hey, first thing I would do, is get rid of the AFM lifters ASAP, before they fail on you. I'd also recommend getting a tune after you delete the catalytic converters. Hot licks states on their website it is safe to use and wont hurt the engine, i use it all the time with my corvette, and so far there is no issues. As for the cutouts, honestly I'm not sure I've never used cutouts, but I would assume they would be fine. Sorry, I'm not much help haha. Good luck though, let me know how it goes!

Can I get a switch for the spark? I got on and off switch. How deep did you cut the hole like how many inches because I might use steel step drill.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. The spark plug bung, you want about 8in away from the end of the exhaust tip. I think it was about a 7/8" hole for the bung to sit flush. But I dont exactly remember the size. You could do an on/off switch for the rear spark plugs. But you will still need a 2nd switch to kill the power to the regular spark plugs. So you would have to toggle both switches at the same time. Honestly it would be way easier to get the proper switch, like mine, a 3 way push button. that just diverts the power to the rear when pressed.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I'm not super familiar with fords, but the concept is the same. you need the switch to cut off power to the spark plugs via the Coil packs. it shouldn't mess with the injectors at all. the corvette is also a manual, so I leave it in gear, which allows the RPMs to hang for longer flame times.

Not that I have noticed. I check it a decent amount, since I beat on the vett pretty hard. But I also change the oil every 3k miles. Its just dumping more fuel into the cylinders, compressing it, and throwing it into the exhaust. I dont think it would cause oil to push past the rings.

Is it the same order number for those 2 pink wires for any car? I have a 2013 BMW F30 but can’t find any diagrams of the ignition switch cable

Hey, sorry for the late reply! It is not the same for all cars. The two pink wires is more specific to GM vehicles with the Gen III motors. There should be some wire schematics online for the BMW. Worst case, I would pick up a set of the factor service manual. These are huge books, industrial 3 hole punched, close to 1000 pages per book and usually are in a set of 3 or 5 books. they are a little expensive bot totally worth it if you work on your own car. They will have every single diagram of your car in it. Sorry, but I hope that helps. Good luck!!

Do you have catalytic converters? Are you positive the engines spark plugs are shutting off when you hit the button? Have you checked that the rear spark plugs work? 6-8in from the end of the exhaust tip. And are you reving it high then hitting the button, and going full throttle?

@@TheKingCoopa nope iv gone full decat. Press the button on normal idle and the engine switches off. Hold the button the the spark plugs are buzzing away at the back. Plugs are 8 inch from the exit.

Hey, you can keep the mufflers. I'm running a set of corasa performance mufflers. But you HAVE to delete the catalytic converters or it won't work.

Hey, hot licks says you can't have any catalytic converters. Their job is to trap and burn any unused fuel/fumes. So if you're vehicle does shoot flames, they are probably gonna be pretty small. I have high-low cats on my TBSS. And it acts/smells like a stock vehicle. But my truck and vett, they are both cat-less. Once I start those, I have to pull them out of the garage immediately, because the fumes are so bad. Hope that helps, but any type of catletic converter, I'm gonna say it probably won't shoot flames.

Also just to note I don’t know about the C5’s but I was told on the C7’s if you don’t delete your cats, you can actually blow up the catalytic converter’s doing this, so that’s why the Cadillac converters have to go.

Yup! Dumping fuel into them can cause them to get clogged. It will either blow the insides out, or I've seen it bogg an engine down, and not run right.

If you want flames, you will have to delete the catalytic converters. Most people get it tuned after, as it will throw a CEL and can cause bad performance/mpgs. Not sure where you are located, but if you have to smog test it, it probably won't pass emissions with the catalytic converters removed.

The hemi 5.7 is a good motor. The muffler is fine, but you can't do it with a catalytic converter still installed. The catalytic converters job is to trap and burn un-used fuel. Which means no flames.

Hey, technically its a universal kit, as long as you can cut power to the coilpack/spark plugs. It will dump fuel in the exhaust and ignite at the rear spark plugs

Hey, sorry for the late reply. If you're sitting still, just keep the car in park/neutral. Rev the rpms up high and Hit the killswitch/flames when it gets close to redline, push the gas pedal to WOT. It will take a second or two for the fuel to get to the rear sparkplug. you can shoot flames for a few seconds, not long, and your RPMs will start to drop fast. Once your rpms drop to 1000 or 1500, let off the button, and it will rev back up (your foot is still to the floor) then you can fit the flames button again when it gets close to redlining. Repeat the process. While sitting still you can only shoot flames in short bursts, since there is no load on the engine/drivetrain. If your driving, its the same concept, but you keep the car in the desired manual gear so the rpms are high. Or for auto you shift it to 2 or 1 depending on your speed. If you're rolling, the cars momentum/drivetrain will help the rpms hang longer while you're shooting flames. Hope that helps. Every car and flame setup is just a little different, it took me a few trial and error runs to figure it out.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. First question i have to ask, do you have catalytic converters installed? Are you sure the coilpacks/spark plugs shut off when you hit the switch? And do you have exhaust leaks?

Hey, sorry for the late reply. As long as both are hooked up properly neither will cause engine damage. All its doing is killing the spark, to dump the raw fuel into the exhaust. Basiclly causing it to run rich, temporarily. At the worst case, it will cause fouled spark plugs, and deposit buildup on the valves and pistons. It would take a long time for that to build up though. You would cause more damage if you were to run it lean.

yea, 5k is a pretty good rpm to hit it at. every car will handle it a little bit differently depending on mods, tune, and the exhaust setup.

Hey, you can remove the cats, people do it all the time. I wouldn't do it if you live in an area that requires your vehicle to pass smog inspection, like California, it would definitely fail lol. If you do remove them, I would definitely recommend getting the vehicle tuned for it. Your O2 sensors are going to be reading this new air/fuel ratio change, thinking the catalytic converters are still there, and its going to compensate for that. Which is going to make your car not run to the best of its abilities. Or make it run super rich and destroy your mpgs. But long story short, you can not shoot flames if you have catalytic converters installed

Yes, basicly. I use the monetary switch to redirect the power to the rear coilpack/spark plugs. Doing so shuts off all the coil packs upfront, so it dumps the fuel into the exhaust and ignites it back at the tips

Hahaha right, that last video with the glowing tips was like my 4th time shooting the flames, within a span of like 5 min. So they were getting pretty warm. But I've used it a decent amount since this video, and no burnt paint or melted bumper yet lol. I do think I want a little longer exhaust tips though. They are pretty close to the bumper. Correct. For the largest flames, you want full throttle while holding the button. Then once the rpms get low, I let off the throttle before I let go of the button. Unless you're trying to shoot multiple flames. I just leave my foot on the gas. Let off the button when the rpms are low. The engine will ramp back up, then click the button again once your close to redline. And repeat that process a few times. Engine rev, flames, engine rev, flames. Ect.

Nope. I dont have any codes or anything from it. I use the flames almost every time I drive too haha. The only negative I have from it, it changed my exhaust tips from chrome to gold 😅

Hey, anything is possible if you put your mind to it! Your car i think is gonna be a little bit different. The 88 fc3 had two distributors correct? This is a universal kit. But I think it only applies to coilpacks/electronically controlled spark. Your setup with a dristibutor, it can still be done, im not exactly sure how. They have been doing it since the 60s and 70s though. So im sure with some googling you can probably figure it out pretty easily. Just need to find a way to cut the spark off. Sorry, not much help.

Honestly not sure. Guess it depends how close your exhaust tip is. Mine is tucked under and I have no issues. But I've talked to a few guys on here that have melted their bumpers lol. Safe bet would be to get some longer exhaust tips. Maybe an inch or two, just to get it away from your bumper if you're really worried about it

Hey, the kit comes with a nut. So if you have a straight exhaust tip, you can shove a wrench on there and "bolt" the spark plug to the exhaust tip. But my tips are curved, and no way to get a wrench or socket in there. So I welded my bungs on. Its alot nicer, since I knew I'd be taking the spark plugs on or off every now and then.

Yes it does. Just need to be in park/neutral if your sitting still. And while your driving you want it higher in the rpms for shooting flames. So you can manually drop the transmission into 1 or 2, depending on your speed to shoot the flames

Sorry for the late reply.. That seems like an excessive amount of fuses. Either way, you just need to find the wire that supplies spark power to the coil packs. Weather its one wire to a set of coil packs (like mine) Or in some cases a you need to tap into a wire on each individual coil pack. (8 coil packs, 8 wires). Its a universal kit, so everyone's application is gonna be a little different. Hope that helps. Worst case, I'd give hotlicks a call and see if they know anything or can give you any tips for your setup

@@ianblake2630 oh nice, glad you found it. On the vett, I have long tubes, Xpipe, and corsa performance mufflers. You dont need to straight pipe it, but you HAVE to remove the catalytic converters. If you live in an area that has smog testing, you won't pass if you remove them. Just fyi. And if you do remove them, it is highly recommended you get the vehicle tuned after.

Hey, so I don't remember what fuse it was. I Googled the coil pack power wire pin location and took it from there on the bottom of the fuse box. Mine had a pink power wire for each side of the coil packs (driver and passanger sides) Check this link out, and go to page 98 and 99. Pink - power Black - ground Brown are all connected And Purple, blue, green, red are the individual signal wires telling that coil to get power from the pink wire and send spark, for the firing sequence. So you just need to tap into the pink wires from each set of coil packs, to your switch. So you can cut the power to shoot flames.

Hey, yes. Catletic converters catch all the unburnt fuel. If you have cats, the fuel can't get to the spark plugs in the rear for the flames.

If the catletic converters are completely hollowed out, then yes it will work. If you have two converters and only holo out one side, its not gonna be very effective.

Hey, there is no "extra" fuel. When you hit the monetary push button. It shuts off the coilpacks/spark plugs. So the motor is still spinning, its just not firing. So the injectors are still shooting fuel into the chambures but it gets thrown into the exhaust instead of igniting. The fuel reaches the sparkplug in the rear of the exhaust and gets ignited and burned out the tips. When you let go of the button, the coilpack/spark plugs turn back on and the car runs just like normal

Yup, you got it right! And it is a monetary push button. So the flames are only shooting while you have your finger pressed on the button. Also, just fyi it usually takes like a second or two of pushing the button for the flames to ignite. But after a few test runs, you can hear as soon as the flames ignite. Sounds like a blow torch.

Hey, the concept is the exact same. Kill the coil packs with the switch, and divert the power to the rear. It will ignite the raw fuel out of the tail pipes. Yours being a camaro SS. If its a gen 3 LS motor, im 90% sure all the coil packs were the exact same. So it should still be the pink wire as the coil pack power wires. If you have a gen 4 LS, It might have changed. I havnt really messed with the gen 4 in my TBSS so I'm not sure on that one. But you can either trace the coil pack wires and splice in there. Or look on Google for the proper wires under the fuse box for a cleaner look.

@@jugtona the pink wire, yes. If it ran funny, then you have something wired up wrong. Power should be coming from the fuse box, going though te switch, to the coil packs. And run just like normal. Once you hit the switch, it will divert the power from the fuse box, to the switch, to the rear coil packs. Once you left off. It will switch the power back to the coil packs and run like normal. While you are shooting the flames the engine will NOT be running, untill you let off the button. Do you have the hot licks kit?

Hey, I dont know much about bmw's, but this is a pretty universal kit. You dont need to touch the ecu at all. With the intermittent switch, you're just cutting power to the spark plugs, and diverting it to the spark plugs in the rear, which ignite the flames. When you let off the switch, everything goes back to normal.

Hahahahaha finally someone noticed! The skin is rough, but its actually healthier than the fruit itself. I was laughing pretty hard editing that part of the video.

No, its actually better if you stay in gear. While coasting and hit the Flames (motor turns off) your wheels are spinning the drive train, which keeps the engine rpms up, for more fuel and bigger flames. Once your rpms get low you can push the clutch in and let off the button. If you are in neutral your rpms drop drastically and you can't shoot Flames for long.

My buddy has one of these kits installed on his car it's popping because you're letting off the button with the rpms up too high because if you wanted to you could take it up to 4k hold the button let off at 2k then it sounds like a bomb goes off also I can tell you how to do it in neutral for as long as you want too if you would like

@@niel80 an automatic would work perfectly fine for sitting still you just would have to mess around with it to figure out how to do it while driving if you wanted too

@@niel80 hey, for an auto, you have the PRND21. Just down shift it into the 2 gear or the 1 gear (depending on your speed) to command the transmission to stay in that gear, allowing you to get to the high rpms without it shifting so you can shoot the flames, once your rpm gets low, let off the button and keep driving.
