Thank you, thank you, thank you Johnny!! I've been waiting for this review &100% agree that in 2023 EVERY beauty product should be cruelty free 🐰

I don't understand why all products are not cruelty free. Not just makeup. It's barbaric to inflict injury to develop products.

Please don't confuse what I'm about to say and take it to mean that I am "pro animal cruelty" because that's not the case. I just want to present why it might be more complicated than we think. For makeup and cosmetics, yeah, we can probably avoid most animal testing. I think we can all agree putting known harmful chemicals in a bunny's eye is cruel and unimaginable. But that's not what most animal testing involves. We use animals for lots of different testing to get an idea of how it may behave in humans. If we don't do that, we have to test on humans. That creates a whole different set of ethical questions. For products and treatments for kids, I'm sure most people would agree it might be better to try a procedure or something on an animal than a child (for example, a joint surgery or something.) I hope this doesn't seem too tangential, but I had to do some research and writing about ethics, especially in healthcare. A lot of it comes down to the definition of what we're talking about. Kind of like "clean beauty," "cruelty-free" could mean different things. My hope is people would use testing as ethically and minimally as possible protecting the test subjects. There are a lot of rules about testing on animals and humans in the U.S. it's probably different from place to place. I think it's important for brands to be transparent about their products (where they come from, how they were tested and to what degree, who is manufacturing them, etc.)

@linseylinsey we can test products on rapists and child molesters. Imo there is NEVER a reason to test ANYTHING on an animal!

@annettefournier9655 I completely agree with you! I was watching Kelly Gooch yesterday. She did a video about the history of Benefit Cosmetics. I had no idea that Benefit isn’t cruelty free, I was super surprised when I heard that and then doubled checked.

Thank you, Johnny, for always pointing out what products will work on mature skin..and they're frequently drugstore or drugstore pricing. The splurge items you recommend are worth it for the special results. Your talent and experience make me trust you! I can't wait to see the house you and Casey are buying! XXOO ❤️ ❤️

Thank you for being so honest about products. You prefer quality over price, which I appreciate. Again, setting yourself apart from the stereotypical "beauty guru's" You are exceedingly talented as a makeup artist; we know this; we also love your solid comedic stylings. I must say that the vast range of blue and purple eyeshadows are indeed positively stunning on you. The contrast of those colours against your deep, lush brown eyes and fair skin is striking and absolutely gorgeous Johnny! 🙂👁👁

Thank you so much for making this video when I know your life is so chaotic right now. It's awesome! You and I have similar skin issues (with the exception that my skin is 53 years old and far more creased, crepey and textured, but still oily with problems keeping foundation on my nose), and you've totally sold me on this new foundation. I've been using a combination of Dior Forever Matte and Estee Lauder Double-Wear Stay in Place with decent results, but would LOVE to find a single product that does what I need. You've never steered me wrong with your recommendations, and have even given me the courage to play with color. (Today I'm going with purple eyeshadow, and I love it!) One recommendation I have for you, though it's a bit pricey, is the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder. I don't love it as a foundation alone as my skin is a bit more polka dotted than I'd like, but it does absolute wonders if used as a mattifying primer under liquid foundations and skin tints and really blurs and evens out even some of my fine lines and creases. I bought it in shade 3, but kinda wish I'd gotten the tranlucent. Maybe next time. Wishing you lots of good fortune and as little stress as possible with the move, and I'm so excited for you and your husband! Stay healthy!

I totally love what you said about judging Foundation by the way it sticks to your nose! I never thought of that but my nose is always my problem area! I will have to keep a watch on that area for Future Foundation trials. Also, the house Labs concealer brushes great but it looks like a fluffier version of the Anisa concealer brush, which is also a great brush!

Hi Johnny! I've been watching you a while and love your content. I know you've been going thru a hard time, so I wanted to thank you for helping me through a bad season. I'm a nurse practitioner in FL, the last 5 years have been horrendous. I recently resigned from a position I dreamed of due to the toll on my MH. Your videos allow me to completely disconnect and rest my mind. Instead of dreading Sundays, I had your podcast to watch to ease the sting. So just know, your work is bringing joy to people. Love this video as normal! I am looking at buying some new makeup for fall soon so I will have to try some of these . Do you have any tips on making makeup last when you are doing sport outside all day? I tried just about every setting spray i can get my hands on and tried powder and setting spray but the makeup just breaks up and faded by the end of the day. I usually have to do it at 8 am ( or earlier 😢) and don’t get home till 8 or even later on competition days. I also don’t usually have a real bathroom to touch up necessarily so it makes it hard to do much during the day. Would love to find a way to put it on in the morning and not have to worry until I wash it off . We do have to go in bad weather so bonus if it is waterproof but not going to dry my dry skin out more 😂
