What was your favourite bike from the Malverns Classic Show and Shine? Is there a retro bike you’ve always wanted? If money was no object what would you be trying to source?

I'm cheap; Moots YBB, and Turner Stinger are the only two I've never managed to find used for a price I'd bite for. If I was to drop big green on a bike now, it would be for something unobtainable, like a custom fat tire ebike in Reynolds 953 with belt drive, a Rohloff rear, and carbon bits everywhere else. That being said, I can still spend half a day staring at old C-dale fat tube hardtails....😊

The full Ti Xizang was my halo bike when I was a kid. I would love to get one with modern geo and 29” wheels. The OG Ti Hei Hei was also up there. Oh…. And a Richey Team Edition with the softride stem that Frischy rode. So many to choose from but those are my all time favorites

A Bontrager Race Lite like I used to own in the 90's. Sold it cheap when I was desperate for cash in '99. One of my dumber moves in life, for it was an absolute barnstormer of a cross country bike.

I’m 17 and If it wasn’t for doddy with his knowledge on the tech channel I wouldn’t have got myself a bike mechanic job in a bike shop and then going on to run a class teaching people how to maintain and build bikes. I’m really grateful as I now have a love for retro mountain bikes since I found the channel in 2020. All the best with your future 🚵🏻🚵🏻♂️

When I started riding 2 years ago, this channel was the first MTB channel I subscribed to. Learning all the tech stuff to be able to strip my bike and put it together, Doddy has been on that journey with me. I would like to thank you for sharing your immense knowledge and history of MTB with the rest of us. Good luck to your future endeavours and you will be missed.

What Doddy brought to GMBN was his great credibility in bike knowledge. His skills as a journalist also proved to be a great strength as he was able to put across any detail of mountain bike technology without it being overly complicated or patronising. His leaving feels like the end of a era. Not sure GMBN Tech will be the same again.

The show won't be the same without you Doddy. Seem like a real down to earth guy with true knowledge and genuine passion for all things MTB. Wish you the best in your future endeavors and hope to see you again, maybe as a guest on the GMBN channels again.
