Really cool to see the Zinn, we funded, sourced every single part, and built it in just 3½ weeks leading up to the GT Malverns event.

Love hearing the back story about Doddy. Thanks for sharing. Also, that beautiful BB7....... it looks so mean, so capable, and ready for shredding.... even when stationary. I had the Michelin DH 32 tires on my DH bike back then and those tires were tough and would grip on anything and everything!

This is what I like about GCN and GMBN when they look about the evolution of bikes throughout the years. Loving the 90s era of bikes, imagine all the creativity and tech innovations they're trying to do to stand out in the market. Makes you appreciate them even more (plus they look awesome ina a sea of modern bikes lol). Doddy for GMBN and Jon for GCN make looking at classic bikes so much enjoyable.

The ALMega is my winner, especially the time correct neon seat bag. This bike was in the shop when my dad bought me my first MTB and I wanted it so much but it was over 2000 Deutsche Mark and out of reach.

Ooooooh maan. That Al-Mega. I had an Al-Mega XT and it was literally amazing. It was a massive step up from my Diamond back Sorrento with its lowly 200GS group that kept getting chainsuck and eventually suffered a terminal rear derailleur incident (terminal to the non-replacable mech hanger at least) The Al-Mega was second hand but still in great condition and climbed like a beast! I adored the elevated chainstay for that and when it got stolen from my garage was suuuuper disappointed when it turned out Alpinestars changed the design that year to a standard double triangle, and my test ride confirmed a horrible ride, so i switched to a GT Bravado LE as a replacement. But hot damn I loved that Al-Mega. And the dogs bolx was legendary in my circle of friends but never saw one in real life

That almega brings some sweet memories. I had a Miyata Terrarunner back then, which was a super nice bike, equiped with SPD pedals and Onza barends. Guess it must have been around 1990 or so and we went on vacation up north in Sweden that summer for some fishing and biking. As far as I can remember the almega was released about the same year and I had drooled over it in the MTB magazine. When we arrived at the locarion I discovered, to my great delight, that the local Sports shop had an almega you could rent for a day. Of course I couldn't resist and rented the bike. Super stoked I rode it that whole day on the gnarliest single tracks I could find 😁 Guess they wasn't that good at setting up bikes though while I remember I had to adjust the rear deraileur.

Outstanding knowledge. So many memories. I rode the Cannondale with 26" fr, 24" rear. Horrendous but cool. My first genuine mtb: rigid GT Karakoram, rear U-brake, front centre-pull caliper. Paint flick: black flicks on red frame. I got it second hand for about £30 back 95? I had been riding this abomination, a Raleigh Activator with undamped front and rear suspension. Or maybe it was a hardtail. It could have put me off biking for good.

Does anybody remember an advert from the early 90's shown on British and Irish TV for either Lucozade or Mars Bars. My memory is very vague of it but from the best of my recollection it featured a girl being heli-dropped onto the top of a mountain, she rode out of the helicopter on a Cannondale Super V and headed off down the slopes. The advert featured "She Sells Sauntuary" by "The Cult" as the background music. Anyone??

Almost abit surprised i didnt catch a Fat Chance amongst them Doddy, I seem to remember one from the first Malverns vid? For me that ARC has to be up there as i raced a FRO PRO myself back in 91 i think (Grundig WC in Oslo, Norway). Lots of beautiful bikes and remember vividly checking out the Muddy Fox's in adverts in magazines back then ;) The one that started it for me was the Nishiki Bushwacker, not a bike i see very often and would love to get my hands on... Red/white fade or blue/white fade. Grand, grand vid m8, keep em coming

It went together easily in less than an hour. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
