I'm from Adelaide, South Australia.. our summers have a lot of 40c plus (104f) days . One of the other things we have to be careful of is burnt paws from people walking their dogs while the pavement is still too hot. Tip - of you can't put your hand on the ground for 5secs .... It's too hot to walk your dog. Sand also retains too much heat, even after the sun goes down. We freeze small containers of water to put in Blu's water bowl a couple times a day Thank you for sharing this, some people just don't realise how much heat can effect animals

Mr. & Mrs Smith I have a four year old blue 41/2 year white and three from the same litter 2 1/2 year old black 3 girls 2 boys the 1 black I rescued as he was born without a hip and they were going to put him done the other I got as a throw back went to two different home and came back she’s really hyper. I have no children but my dogs are. It’s so wonderful to come home from work and see how excited they are to see me. Love them to death. They are so much fun and funny. I know you love and enjoy yours also. May God Bless you and yours.

Not just over heating but their feet (for any breed) can easily burn/blister from hot sidewalks. I walk my 7mo dane on grass or he'll wear his breathable/orthopedic shoes to protect his toe pads.

Good practical information in this video. Thank you for this! Our 2-yr old Great Dane, Lyla, loves to sunbathe for hours on her favorite mattress. She always has large bowls of water nearby and plenty of shade. She'd often get up drink, relax in the shade for a while then return to her sunny spot. Due to her current medical condition (CHF), her exposure to higher temps is considerably restricted as large dogs with heart conditions don't fare well in the heat. She still loves her sunny spot on certain days, but we monitor her exposure.

Hi....love your. Videos, especially as a Great Dane owner....regarding the heat, I happened to notice the metal water dish ....perhaps using a ceramic one, plastic one, or other material might be much better than a metal one ...for one thing. the metal itself can get very hot to touch. Also, the hot metal would quickly defeat the purpose of adding cool water to the bowl to help rehydrate your dog. Just a few thoughts....thanks !!

Just curious about the bowl you use, and do you use the height adjustment type for Gus? 💗

My pup is only 5 months, and he loves being out in the heat! I don't get it, it's so hot and uncomfortable. 90s and humid, and he doesn't want to come in. Silly pup. He's only 60 pounds so that's probably why. I hate the heat, I can't wait for him to hate it too so he wants to come back inside with me right away.

My poor guy cannot do the heat we have here, 115+ everyday in the summer
