I’m so confused. You rewarded your dog when they barked and you rewarded when they didn’t? How do you get your dog to STOP barking when somebody is at the door? The video didn’t show this at all.

My little Dane (106 lbs) discovered talking at almost a year and sounds like a wookie 😂 lucky for me she's from a good kennel and has a very even temperament and even New Years doesn't phase her 😊

We have owned 3 Danes, and everything you mentioned is true. The thing is, how welcoming they are to new members of the pack! We got a kitten in August. He and Astro became fast friends! Astro likes to be sure everyone is accounted for at all times. He woke me up to go outside one night, and Ollie (the kitten) darted out unseen. When Astro came in he wouldn't lay down. He went to where Ollie sleeps to show me that he was missing. 😅 He loves his Kitten 😂

We have had Great Danes for the last 30 years and everything you mentioned is SO true. The only negative of having one is their short life span. It breaks our hearts each time we have to say goodbye. But, it doesn’t stop us from getting another one.❤

Farming means wrong diet 👀

Bunny Boy was one of three surviving pups I got at three days old. They all lived and he delighted us for 11 years! We gave him his own couch, slept between us, and sat in front seat with his head out of the moon roof of the car ! We danced often, Sang often, and he loved us as much as we loved him. On his final day I had him home with a lung infection on an IV. I did not want him to suffer anymore and told him it was up to him. We awoke from a nap and he was in Heaven❤ We would love another Great Dane but too old for all the fun ! 🕊️🌈🧚🏽🐕‍🦺🐾🦴

They also forget to stop when running towards you and are bit clumsy as pups, One of my Great Danes was a nanny for my baby daughter, followed her everywhere. A wonderful breed and my favourites.

The Great Dane was actually breeded as a war dog, man did they get it wrong😅 they made the most loyal love dog ever ❤

I grew up with Danes. We had 3. They are large but surprisingly don't need a large h9me. They lounge alot. The sad thing is they have a short life span.

The clinginess cannot be overstated

I don’t mind barking at the door. Had several occasions our Danes barking at the door served as a deterrent to a person or persons with questionable motives at the door while my wife was home alone.

It's funny that you talked about rainy days. Our Great Dane has earned the name of Sugar Princess; she thinks she will melt or dissolve in the rain!

Have I ever owned Great Danes? Four of them. They think they are human, and lap dogs. Such great family dogs! Their only drawback is their short lifespan and susceptibility to cancer. SO HARD to say goodbye.

My husband and I have always loved Great Danes. They are an amazing breed. We fell in love with them and owned many over the years. We did not have children so they became our kids. We showed our Danes in conformation and were breeders. We only bred one litter a year although we had several breedables bitches. Buying a puppy from us was like adopting a child. We were very particular about the people that bought our pups. All of our dogs were in our house. We did not have kennels. We had multiple couches in our living room to accommodate them. Of course some of them liked to back up to the couch and just sit on it with there feet on the floor which many Danes like to do. We also bolted two queen size beds together so they could sleep with us. Danes have many interesting and unique things about the breed which we enjoyed. We owned ten Danes over the years. I'm a widow and in my 70s now and sometimes think how I would love to own another Dane but I figure it would be hard for me to walk one now so I'll just keep my memories. I have a lot of stories I could tell.

I Used to own a Great Dane / Doberman Cross Breed and it was clever ! Open doors using the door handles, Carry the Newspaper home in it`s mouth ,Watch the TV . Eat anything . Break rules but then it would cast it spell`s on you making you forgive it`s mistakes etc...

We got our first GD in 2001, often having 3 at a time through the years. I agree with everything you said. Two more issues not mentioned: Since they like to be close they will step on your toes. Bothersome when they are over 50 lbs. - they can weigh that at 2 month! Their head is a weapon. Be prepared for black eyes, bloody noses... Best to be as aware as possible of their movements when near the head.

So I have a question , what is the best puppy food to feed them ? I got my beautiful 9 week female yesterday and they had her on pedigree for puppies , but it’s not for large breeds

I saw a Great Dane at the shelter today. He is almost 5 years old. I was sad looking at this sweet guy because he probably lived half of his life already.

I have had four of them and everyone of them i have had to go out there with an umbrella so the would go to the bathroom...funny part is during snow storms every one of them loved the snow...go figure
