Just discovered your channel last week and immediately subscribed. I've had Danes for over 20 years so it's really nice to see a you-tuber who actually knows what they are talking about. I just lost my best friend Otis in November, he was a giant among giants. 225 pounds of pure love, loyalty and trickster. He died just shy of of his 11th birthday. I also had his litter mate Frisco who passed 2 years ago who was more normal size at 185 pounds. That dog was amazingly smart and my true love. Now that they are both gone I'm absolutely crushed. After crying for about 5 weeks we decided it was time to do it again. We just brought our new baby home on New year eve. The price of admission to living and loving these incredible souls is the heartbreak when they leave. My new girl isn't a replacement, she a new spirit, a new personality and I will love her as deeply as all my previous boys. Great videos, thanks.

YESSS, they are so gentle. My Elvis had a soft spot for tiny dogs, the tinier the better even though they all feared/hated him, he would accept them as well as cats biting on his lips, growling, scratching him JUST so he could be near them. He would sneak or ease his head in close to them and lay down taking all the abuse. Lol My poor sweet boy, I miss him so.

I watch my 10 month old nephew and it amazes me at how gentle our 4 month old Great Dane is with him. I am still diligent of course, especially when he is playing with our older dog, but he seems to understand to be gentle with him (even if he sometimes knocks him over)

I recently adopted a rescue Dane pup (5 months) and he’s my first Dane. He’s an absolute goofball and I totally agree that they “need” humans! When I take him to the dog park he likes to make his rounds greeting the people there, then he greets the dogs lol. He his also very unsure about geese at the moment haha!

gus is so beautiful ❤️ and its all true! my last dane Harper was so in sync w. me til the end, just so loving and sweet. and a huge goofball. I had her for 10 yrs and had to say goodbye in July and it's been really difficult and empty w.out a dane. I don't think I'll ever have such a sweet dog again. honestly I couldn't even watch these types of videos til now, i'm flying across the country for my new dane pup in a few weeks and I'm definitely ready to have a dane in my life again. it's brutal to lose them and I will miss her forever but it's also painful not to have one. We have a white Great Dane. She is deaf but if I could have another Dane that is sweet as our Lucy deaf or not I would gladly take them. She lays across my lap in my recliner. The only thing I don't like is she can't hear me tell her I love her. We talk to her as if she can hear us. I know she knows how much we love her with all the kisses and hugs we give her. I would never have any other breed after having Lucy. I'm 71 years old and Lucy and I hang out together every day.

Hi Zach! Would you be able to provide any information on which dog boots and blanket jacket you use for Gus? We are struggling to find snow boots for our Great Dane and would really appreciate any information you can provide. We got a jacket that seems to be fine but I would love to learn of any additional jackets you could recommend. I read your article, “Do Great Danes Get a Winter Coat?”, in which you recommend Bark Brite dog boots. Are there any additional boots you can recommend because those don’t seem to be ideal for the snow? Could you specify what winter coat you use for Gus in the article? We live in Minnesota so our Great Dane, Mia, would really benefit from your recommendations.

We were thinking of adopting a Great Dane and a weiner reimer. We already seen the weiner reimer and it’s friendly but will a Great Dane be friendly to it they are both puppies that each live with a lot of dogs.

Hi Zach! Needed a tip, we are headed to Colorado with our Dane (never been in snow) do you take Gus out in the snow? Is she okay to take walks and such and does she get cold? Want to make sure ours is comfortable and we get the right gear! Thanks!
@GreatDaneCare4 жыл бұрын
Yes, she goes out in the snow and loves it! For short outings you don’t need to worry about much unless it’s REALLY cold outside. When it’s super cold we’ll put dog boots and a horse-like blanket jacket on her

Hi, I was wondering if you had any insight on an issue I’m having with my new Great Dane puppy. I got her from a puppy store 2 weeks ago and got along with our other dog great. The problem is that she is very scared of everything and especially my wife and I. She acts like she’s been through some trauma because of how sacred she acts of us but the thing is she’s very friendly with literally every other person she meets. This is very heart breaking for me and my wife as we try really hard and do nothing but show her love but she’s scared of us. Is this something that happens with Great Danes? We are feeling very bummed out and wondering if she’d be happier with someone else. Thank you
@Lgarto4 жыл бұрын
I probably shouldn’t joke about this, but I will often make the crack that my little Dane wants to get me sick. She goes up to almost everyone at the dog park for a quick scratch and maybe to lean against them for a bit. But heaven forbid that any other dog comes up to me for a pet; she then wants my undivided attention.

My girl has been great with my grandchildren and seems like she can't wait to meet the newest baby from outside her crate. Her biggest issue, at this point, is not realizing how strong her pushing, nose sniffs are. She alerts me to my grand son's dirty diapers and has toppled her little man, whom she adores.

Have you ever mentionned that when they go from pup to adult size people should expect since they grow so fast that they will pee and poo at least 4 to 6 times a da?. Dog pads is a must for at least the first 6 months. My gf was surprised how much Brindle peed and pooed. I told her that they grow so fast that they must but it's only while they are growing up. He's going to be 2 February 3th. Drake my other dane died 4 years ago for a twisted spleen. What are the odds? Anyway, they are the best dogs ever.
@cdezzz4 жыл бұрын
I’m not trying to be offensive, but I’ve had four Danes all raised from pups. We’ve never used dog pads, we’ve had them all trained within two weeks.
@KickArs4 жыл бұрын
@@cdezzz No It's all good. I work on a 8 days away, 6 days home, 8 days away, 20 days home schedule. When i was home it wasn't an issue. Just when my gf had to go somewhere, the pup needed to go often. As you know they grow quite quick so nature demands. As to how fast they learn to go, it was just about the saem as you.

My blue's dad had an episode of splenic tortion also, while the breeder's son was babysitting him. Bless his heart, he managed to get him to the vet in time 🙏 It's not as common as stomach tortion (i.e. bloat) but it does happen! Something Dane owners should be aware of!
@KickArs2 жыл бұрын
@@starfoxloves If I would of known I would of saved Drake. it took a week for him and under the knife to figure out that it was a twisted spleen. I search the net like crazy but there was always one symptom that didn't fit. Of course, after I knew, all the symptoms were there. The vet never figured it out either probably because of the other vet that just kept Drake under surveillance for the whole weekend without doing a darn thing. Anyway, More people should know about it. I'm happy that you were able to save your blue's. Never again will i be fooled by this.
