Excellent restoration. The purple spectraflame is the toughest color to shoot due to the fact that it will go super dark purple before you realize. Spectraflame is my absolute favorite paints to shoot.

I always liked the Python. And, the purple version is my favorite. I like your version without the black roof. I believe I've seen some red Pythons straight from the factory that didn't get the black roof treatment.... but I could be mistaken

Mattel did make Pythons without black roofs, so it’s fine if you don’t paint it black. I just bought an original red one a few weeks ago, and I’m about to start redoing it. I might or might not repaint the roof.

If you paint the roof black, to make your own artistic statement, make it a high gloss black. Make it as glossy as the rest that is now purple. I think the Redline Shop has a new transparent black paint product. I'd also paint only the top of the roof, not the pillar sides. Enjoy your toys!

@@pauly7218 Another option, more specific, only a small amount of the top surface gloss black with the gloss purple border outlining the black. Another option, gloss white the whole roof. The actual car has been restored to the Dream Rod appearance for Hot Rod magazine. What we call the HW Python is the "Tiger Shark" (version 3.1) Look them up in Google images (Bill Cushenberry, Dream Rod) Then let your Custom Freak Paints fly!!!

If you know what Supers are, then leaving your top molested with a black roof is akin to Super Treasure Hunts with tampos slathered all over them. Leave it as-is ! Let the Sun shine on !

Though it's a beautiful paint job, I think this car body demands a two tone paint job, however I would NOT go with black. I would do the top white, or some other LIGHT color.Even Chrome would be a possibility, or rather polish the metal top then just clear that portion. in this case, black would be the wrong way to go, better solid color than black, so I guess we kind of agree on that. The other thing I would like to see is the base painted chrome, since part of it is a part of the body. More chrome is never a bad thing... in fact, after you got done with the zinc maybe you should have gone to nickel plating and then if possible, chrome, do the base and the body in all chrome. then possibly hit the body with just a thin coat of the purple. That might look amazing, if you could pull it off, though I grant you it would be very difficult and time consuming to do. I generally don't restore to full, I pick my own colors and whatever else I want to do.... then I give them away to kids in the neighborhood. I think the cars are meant to be played with, not displayed, so I don't keep em. Some of them I sell on ebay to support my little hobby and pay for more cars. Actually, prefer a certain vintage matchbox instead of hot wheels. I always liked the ones where hoods or doors or something actually worked.

The reason why nobody really likes to python is because originally it was called the cheetah and monogram sued Mattel and they weren't owned by each other at the time that's why it's one of the channel worth cars that's why and that's why nobody really liked it it was kind of the worst model and you realize when it came out in the 25th anniversary repops there is no python anyways like how you doing the car excellent another well done show
