I like ANY Spectra-Flame color, Austin (except yellow). But because I grew up watching re-runs of the 1960's Batman show, blue Spectra will always be my favorite.

I had one of these in dark blue - it's possibly my all time favourite Hot Wheels model. Mine suffered a terrible fate - it fell off the top of my gran's coal bunker, and into the tiny, and completely inaccessible gap between the coal bunker and the garage. That was in the early 1970's. It's probably still there. Yours is a thing of beauty. Nice one.

The actual car carried number 66 and was painted a yellowish brown with a blue stripe down the center, contoured to the shape of the car. The quick clip you showed was the STP turbine car from 1967 (the Shelby was 1968)

@MidIslandCustomDiecast3 жыл бұрын
Turned out Sweet as always. Have you dinged a car body with the quick change chuck on your Dremel yet? Oof, I hit one the other day and had to sand the shit out of it to get it smooth again. I might throw some tape on the grips. Just a heads up, maybe save you the aggravation in the future.

Another beauty brah! I've noticed you've changed a few things with your restores. Your paints are quite sharp and the paint booth looks more effective than what you used to use, it looks like it's home made - probably easier on the lungs too. I guess you bought the decals, too much a hassle to make?

Uh, turbines don't "Blub, blub"...They "Whine" or "Whoosh!". BTW, The real life cars, #66 and #69 driven by Bruce McLaren and Denis "Denny" Hulme couldn't get up to speed and were withdrawn from the 1968 Indy 500 (They had also been caught cheating. Under the cover of Mike Spence's #30 STP Lotus Turbine fatal crash Carroll Shelby claimed he now thought they were unsafe and withdrew the cars.) I think the only reason HW made it apart of the line was that everyone was talking about turbines. Exciting cars, sponsored in part by AMT Models, it was just ironic they were too slow. Every time a Redline is restored, an angel gets its wings!😇 Thanks for doing the Lord's work! Have fun with your toys!
