I like doing the Airbnb monthly’s. You get a kitchens. It’s hit and miss in the Philippines. I have had some really bad experiences with Airbnb here. Especially, in Manila, baguio, and Cebu. But that’s mostly due to staff that work there. The staff that work at most of these “luxury” condos are terrible. I find better luck with the apartments and I like lapu lapu better than Cebu. It’s More congested but I just like it better.

Airbnb my choice, because I like to cook and I don't like the very small hotel rooms.

I used agoda to book my hotels the first time I came to Cebu, but now I only book condos in IT Park on AIRBNB. The value for you money is so much better to book a condo near Ayala Mall or IT Park, because you can just walk a short distance to the grocery stores!!!!

IT Park is a unique area Thomas, especially with the new Ayala mall there now.

I’ve stayed in a few AbnB in Thailand and Philippines and it’s been good. I have also booked homes and condos through Agoda, who sometimes offer cheaper prices. For me AbnB are only worth considering if staying a while. I tend to move around a lot so hotels suit me better for now. I plan to stay longer in each place next time, so probably I’ll look at AbnB and rentpad. I do get cash back on Agoda which also helps.

Thanks for sharing. I get some kind of points through booking.com. I used Agoda years ago until they insisted I send them too much private info right then and it irritated me as I was in a hurry to book a room, so I have not used them in years because of that bad experience.

Rod in the US you can price an Airbnb under $100 a night with a private bath and you are competing against roach motels like motel 6. It’s a winning formula.

Yes..I've done both as well, the daily rate, hotel and air BNB, best value is monthly. For me I like a place that looks cool and I book it. Stay awhile and move on. Yes, things happen...no WiFi etc but the bad ones get cut up on reviews .

I've stayed in 10 different Airbnb's in Luzon and Cebu since arriving in the Philippines 2 months ago. I only rent Airbnb's with a kitchen so my gf can cook our meals. I've paid between $25/night to as high as $60 in Calyx. I splurged a little there to be close to Ayala mall which was a very nice experience! I'm now in IT Park and I'm searching for a long term rental to settle down in. Nearly all of my stays have been a good experience but it takes some research time to find a good place. Reading all the comments helps and you can also look for a superhost. Remember the hosts can leave reviews about you for the other hosts to see so be on your best behavior.

great review , I like AirBnB - it's opened things up a lot, and you can live more like a local. I would also prefer you quote prices only in peso's as exchange rates change on a daily basis.

thank you for this information. I'm planning on coming to Cebu in March and was wondering if I should book my airbnb, cause I want a kitchen, for a week while I look for more permanent place, or stay longer in the airbnb. I'm looking for a condo or apartment airbnb with my budget of 700usd per month max. I'm single, 73, and love walking. so cebu would be a good place to start my living in the philippines. I like the large malls, open markets, their foods, want an airbnb with a pool, not a drinker. a studio would work if its large enough. 21m is too small. I prefer at least 30m if possible. in other words, is it better to book a week in a airbnb for a week or two so you have time to really look for a better place to stay. I figure I'll probably move about 3 or 4 times before I find that perfect place in cebu.

You might want to check out Calyx in IT Park or Cebu Business District James or Asia Premier in IT Park.

I have only done AIRBNB once in Cebu, it was terrible , dirty , cochroaches, back to staying at the Quest Cebu. I have never had a bad experience there. When i arrive in November for my permanent stay i will stay at a cheaper hotel while i look for something more longbterm

airbnb is kinda ... for me. you pay a big cleaning fee and they expect you to clean and tidy up.. whats the point of paying cleaning fee? And also, airbnb are private owners and they are more strict compared to hotels where it's full of workers that dont own the hotel so that arent stingy. Also airbnb owners sometimes ask for damage deposit but not list it on their listing only to surprise you upon checking in and what are you gonna do? argue with them? if you give it to them, it's at their mercy and airbnb policy say to not do transaction outside airbnb

The original AirBnB was much better before the new owners took over the company 2 or 3 yrs. ago. The new Airbnb has increased the added fees so dramatically that it is going to price itself out of the market. Those fees are not added in when you see the price per day on the picture, but you will see them when you book. I have stopped using Airbnb because it feels like they became a “gouging” company. Airbnb does Not fit foe us any longer. Hotels/condos are much better deal now.
