This was a very useful video and was done very well. To improve the video, more could have been said on how to connect the condensate hose into a washing machine drain. There are 2 hoses and I am not 100% sure which one to connect. The instructions are not overly clear on this either. Many thanks.

I have almost the same model. Drying can take a while, but the running cost of a heat pump dryers are insanely low. I would strongly recommend one of these.

Good vid. I repair these and have almost the same model, it's 4 years now and still doing a good job. 2 remarks apart from cleaning the filters: 1. I wouldn't advise pauzing it or open the door while it's drying, since it takes 20 minutes before the compressor kicks in again. Also a bad idea to feel how dry the laundry is while it's busy. 2. Use a different hose if you want to connect it to your waste pipe. The original one tends to leak if it bends, destroying the water sensor inside the machine.

Hi, very useful demonstration. I have learnt a lot about our heat pump tumble dryer. We have recently bought the NTS M11 92SK UK. 100% agree, it uses about 1/3rd of the electricity than the conventional vented tumble dryer. The water container gets very full on each use and it is quite heavy to empty. After watching your video, I am going to use the draining pipe through the old vent to the outside wall to drain the water. This is one of the issues, I noticed as compared to the vented driers. The other one is the filter by the heat pump needs to be cleaned after every use, otherwise, the red warning light comes on the heat pump dryer, it automatically switches off will not start, until this filter is cleared and the dryer switched off and on again for it to go through its safety cycle. Therefore, two filters to clean after every use. In summary, very efficient to run and quieter. However, two filters to be cleared on every use. As it is saving me money, I’d give heat pump tumble dryer & Hotpoint 5 Stars.

I've just ordered one of these. Looking at the figures I think I will be saving £1 in electric per load. As £1.50 per load for a vented tumble dryer and 50p per load for a heat pump tumble dryer. So will take 350 load to pay for it's self as paying £350.

I’m a big fan of vented tumble dryers with very short drying times. Why are they getting harder to find? The heat pump runs a lot longer to dry the same amount of clothes as a vented, doesn’t that mean even though the heat pump is more energy efficient it has to run a lot longer so is using the equivalent energy as a vented unit which dries the clothes in a fraction of the time? Appreciate the detail in the videos, keep up the good work.
@superdylan80311 ай бұрын
the reason they are getting harder to find is big brands like bosch are discounting vented models to focus on heat pump models
@kokovox11 ай бұрын
Heat pump dryers use less than half of the electricity per cycle even if the cycle is twice as long.
@leo106610 ай бұрын
I’ve been using vented tumble dryers for 30 years. I can confirm my daily electric smart meter readings ( sad, I know), heat pump tumble dryers use about 1/3 the amount of electricity. I agree, they do take about a 1/3 longer to dry. Not a technological guy, haven’t got a clue as to why the heat pump dryers run for longer yet use less electricity.
@polla22567 ай бұрын
@@leo1066because they operate on a closed loop cycle. Rather than venting waste heat (and moisture) out of the system (open loop) they cycle the air within the system. This means they can run at much lower temperatures. Theoretically they could heat to similar temperatures as conventional machines but you hit diminishing returns in regards to efficiency and cost.

Maybe someday we can buy larger washer dryers with this technology and enough capacity to wash and dry thick duvets. I can wash on mine, hardly, but forget about drying. Can't find anything larger than 9Kg
@christopherjhall9 ай бұрын
The larger the drum the less efficient a tumble dryer. It wouldn’t make much sense to have a home dryer with capacity for duvets, when you generally use it for drying clothes.

I wanted to do the same here but I have been told people take very dirty items like horse blankets to be washed and dried there. I wish I had gotten a 10 or 12 Kg machine. And nice to know the efficiency of larger models is lower. I'd be ok at least being able to wash it, I might use a small plastic tub I bought for that, now that I am thinking about, during summer, and hot water, so I don't have to shake it too much with a clean broom or something to have it clean. It's not that awful anyways, thankfully. Have a great new year!!@@christopherjhall

It all sounds very good but I often use my dryer when I’m in a hurry to dry two or three items if I can’t hang out the washing due to bad weather & need these items quickly. From that I can see here it would take hours to dry just a few items ? Whereas at the moment I could dry trousers, two shirts/tops in say 30 mins .. this is what I’m struggling with the amount of time needed to be factored in to save money. Could anything be dried in under two hours?

Many thanks for a wonderful demo, I have purchased 9kg ones but I see the time starts at 3:07 for cotton and it goes done to 0:15 in 30 min and gradually it reduces to 0:01 and then increases to 0:20 and again reduces to 0:01 and this continues to for next 40 to 50 min. Is it the expected behavior or there is a fault in the timer. Please suggest. Thanks
@lords-electrical9 ай бұрын
It wouldn't normally be that erratic as far as the time changing, but it is quite standard for the time to change. It is using the sensors in the machine to detect the moisture content which is why it adjusting the time.

The fan noise could be normal towards the end of the process, but not sure about the bird tweeting and clanging sound? If it is still in warranty i would contact Hotpoint and get them to send an engineer round to have a look.

Excellent video - thanks! I’ve just taken delivery of this model and have two questions as the ‘instructions’ are terrible! 1) there were no feet included for levelling - should there be? 2) One of the main features for me was the ability to put the water hose into the waste pipe of my washing machine. However, the pipe on the back is far too short to do anything with. Am I missing something? The WM waste pipe is only about 18 inches from the dryer but the pipe is on the ‘wrong’ side so it has to go across the back of the machine, across another 18 inches and then up to the height of the washing machine waste. The pipe provided is less than the height of the dryer! Could you give me some advice please? Thanks you so much!
@lords-electrical8 ай бұрын
As far as the pipe, it is short you are correct. I'm not sure if you can extend it with another piece of pipe to make sure it reaches the waste hose. It also looks like the left front foot is adjustable which may help level the machine up.
@deehughes81487 ай бұрын
@@lords-electrical thanks so much for the reply. Marketing it with the feature that it can drain to the washing machine outlet pipe seems to be very misleading as the pipe it comes with is pointless even if the waste pipe was directly beside it! Nevertheless, Ive been using my dryer all day and delighted with it. Drying time is much shorter than I expected!
