Some really interesting stuff in that little saw. It looks like it's a real pain to work on tho. I think it will respond pretty well to the hotrod work, it will be interesting to see how it does with the big kid bar on it after you're done.

That's a LOT of little stuff for me to lose if I even tried to find the skeleton of that little booger! Odd seeing such tiny parts on the bench comparative to what normally resides on that bench, case in point.....the body guard 066 in the background since the case is neart the size of that whole echo! Lookin forward to the seeing the "angry gnat" after the attitude adjustment, thanks for sharing Jack and safe cuttin

One doesn't have to be a gear head to appreciate this stuff. Kind of interesting how the whole torque vs hp argument translates into saws too. They are packing a whole lot into that form factor.

BTW had a thought... 16:39 you remark "really rough on-top of the piston".... I actually do that on-purpose when I'm doing my piston re-finish work, I use ~100 then 150-200g on the exhaust & transfer portions of the crown (like literally the top of the crown, am not removing much not 1/4th thous it's not affecting timing just *maybe* affecting gas-smoothness, IE helping alongside my chamfering to help the gas move smoothly when exhaust-cracks, I like the idea of a slight 'slope'), but especially on pop-up's I hit the top of the disc with like 80g in a swirling pattern, because everything I understand about 'the combustion event' tells me induction of turbulence is good, atomization of fuel is good, and these would inherently want semi-roughed surfaces, not as rough as a notched intake tube where heavy (re)atomization is needed but at least as rough as the transfer ports if not rougher...IMO!! Great vid, as always (and again, think I've seen this 3x now, best in-depth teardown in fact the only truly full one I've found yet) Would LOVE if you could tell me if a base-gasket delete is plausible? Don't wanna tear mine apart to find out and, surprisingly, google cannot help...lack-of stories of people doing gasket-deletes tells me the gasket is bigger-than the OEM squish so you'll slap piston-on-squishband if you remove it, but am very curious to know "by how much?" and "what's OEM squish?" because if I only need to remove like 3 or 4 thou off the band, I'm comfortable with that, but not a whole lot more as I'm not using real gear so it takes FOREVER to do it w/o risking the plating!
@joescissorhands1412 жыл бұрын
Nevermind that, on that kinda setup, it'd be pretty easy to do a "thick but uniform" layer of Moto and be at least 3thou gained from that!! Really hoping I can just take like 1-2thou off the band, remove the gasket & reassemble w/ Moto and, say, turn 30thou squish to 19thou! (what's the tightest you'd crank-down clearance on such a saw? Honestly the tapered nature of the band & piston-crown make me think it's best to leave their shapes as much as possible after getting satisfactory squish, there's other ways to take a 1/4th CC out of a chamber besides dropping it)

Bought this little saw last week and its great straight out the box, was also nice to see it has adjustable L/H pac man style needles so easy to tune. Only thing I noticed with this saw as I only use Aspen 2 fuel and when the saw runs idles it has a unique smell like burning plastic so was wondering if this saw has a catalyst exhaust as my t540xp ms150t and ms201t dont make this smell while in use!! Its nothing on the saw burning as all looks new still and she runs cool

I have that saw. I rarely use my 201t anymore. Im a echo fan have a 590 with wrap bars n a 28 bar it pulls it quite well once i opened up the muff. Wish i had a tig welder i want to make a exhaust. Lol. Anyway Jack very nice vid . My 2511 is MM it was a pain n the azz to dial in for me anyway. Im running a 10inch bar on mine. By the time i need a bigger saw i send down for my 450p hell its a 18 inch bar weights the same as my 201t with a 16 inch bar , pretty close anyway.

Hi buddy I'm a full time arborist, I own my own company, and my best friend is one of the best 2 and 4 stroke engineers in England. I'm a die hard husqvarna man But always use 201ts for climbing. I've invested in 3 2511tes and 2 cs-620sx all my other grou d saws are husqvarna. I run my 2511s on 1/4 pitch 12inch stihl bars on picco chains, fantastic power silky l. O. L I done a huge reduction on a giant walnut just lately with it. What I can't understand is why anybody wants to try and mod the 2511s there is no need to let alone run a bloody 16inch bar on it, I don't even run a 16 on my 201 12inch max 🤔 that's why we have 201s 200s etc etc, it's like buying a Robin reliance, and trying to turn it into a porse??? Really? Any way. Take care stay safe 🙏👍😊

Great video. I'm trying to figure out a 14" .043 bar & chain combo that will work on this saw with the stock sprocket (Other than the chattery Oregon 91/90PXL chain which is the whole reason I'm looking for something else because the 91PXL I got with it out of the box sucks! Super chattery!). I'm not real knowledgeable so I could definitely use specific model numbers on the bar & chain, haha. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like a nice little saw, I was going to get one after I saw August Hunike test his out but they are crazy expensive here in Australia so I ended up with a used 192t at 1/3 the cost, it's not for commercial use anyway. Can you do a video on your insane-o-ize? I have a few old Huskys (346xp,353,357xp) and am keen to learn how you go about it, I just have muffler mods and no base gaskets on those, seems to make a difference but I really want to know about changing the timing, porting etc. Thanks for the videos and hi from Australia!

Got mine almost a year ago. Seem's like it doesn't keep idling but other than that, I love it. It's light on my harness. The curved handle clips right into my cary tool biner. It's as aggressive as I need it to be. It's do for some tlc and a menu of bars and chains.
@whiskeytangofoxtrot94033 жыл бұрын
If it doesn't idle it needs the carb tuned. Not the idle the actual low jet is out of adjustment.
@1975dbryant3 жыл бұрын
So, you sound like a man who I should consider shipping my 2511 to. At the moment she's a no start. It has a series of typical maintenance issue's. For one it's filthy. Just changed the spark plug. Waiting on a fuel plunger, fuel and air filters to arrive. Not much of a small engine guy but I'm trying. About to convert the sprocket to a 1/4" for the "monkey beaver.com" August Hunicke special. Although, I'd still need a ported exhaust and God knows whatever els he did to "Insanisize" that saw? I bet you'd know what it takes.

I am interested in this build! I like Echo weedeaters and I have an old Echo hedge trimmer rebadged as a John Deere 172. It's essentially an older model from the 1990's or early 2000's Echo HC1500 hedge trimmer in a lime green color.

what exactly is included in a insane oize? im a diesel mechanic so understand all the gear head talk. never really did much with tiny 2 strokes. also what does this kind of service cost? im curious to know these answers. you can PM me if you prefer not to post publicly.

I know this is an older video but if you remember building this saw do you remember the notch out of the exhaust port? When doing a compression test it has really low compression if pulling it fast but higher if you pull it slow. What are your thoughts on this?
@hotsaws1014 жыл бұрын
WTF hi. The divot I mentioned ~13:55 is what I presume is the notch? Bleed down on the exhaust since there is no decompression valve - kind of like what is seen in some of the outboard engines. Thanks for watching.

It means the squish band and squish velocity is optimized. Port timing is altered depending on the modle and the exhaust port volume is almost always increased.
