@@TheRandomhobo123 Nothing wrong with being cynical, it's better than being nieve. most men are emotionally suppressed, it's what we all go through. I can cry, I did when my wife gave birth to our baby boy, I did when we lost our premature baby girl. These are real events in my life that are worth crying over, not a made up tv show about a cynical and emotionally suppressed doctor. I say save your tears for the real world, theres millions of people dying of starvation, illnesses and diseases like cancer, they need help. If you want to cry for someone cry for the children who lost their parents in war torn countries like yemen, parts of africa, palestine syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, cry for the uygur girls and women being raped in "education camps" cry for the rohingya who lost their homes and witnessed their families tortured and burnt alive. Cry for the ukranians currently trying to fight for their home, cry for world peace but please don't cry over a first world problem like a made up tv show it's weak and immature. If I hurt your feelings by saying this, I'm sorry.

@@TheRandomhobo123 Studies show depression is more prevalent in richer countries than in 3rd world countries. Reasons for this are because people in poorer countries have been through hardship all their lives and they know how to deal with their emotions when life gets harder. Also, religion plays a big part in creating hope and with the aspiration of achieving a better life in the hereafter people are more content with what they have now. Dr Jordan Peterson said when you get cut at the knees by someone you become cynical, don't be naive your much better off being cynical, you’re protecting yourself from getting cut again. Cynicism isn't a bad thing, being over emotional about small things can be. I am clearly more mature and logical than you are because you think crying over a tv show is somehow a good thing. Just because I didn’t cry over the scene you did that somehow means I’m suppressed. Do you see how silly your argument is? I’ve seen a hard life and deal with my emotions well, I haven’t dealt with depression since I was a teenager and that was a long time ago. Be strong, if the world knocks you down keep getting back up again. I know horrors in my life I’ve had to deal with and pain that nothing can come and knock me down because I know where I’ve come from. I believe in Allah and his prophet, and I am content with what I have and if all else fails we have a free national health service here in the uk for my according to you costly “eventual nervous breakdown”. Did I hurt your feelings? Did this make you cry? grow up. Today there is such a thing as online bullying, it means todays generation are getting hurt by things strangers say about them online and then get depressed about it lol. I agree with you, people who suppress emotions can have major psychological issues in later life, but you are talking about people who suppress emotions on major life events and as I’ve already told you I don’t do that. We are talking about a tv show ffs. I await your very incite filled reply dr. snowflake i promise I won't shoot myself from all the suppressed emotions.

I must admit that tears sprang to my eyes at her piercing his armour with the hug and his reaction. You can tell straight away with his eyes that her genuineness made House feel a sense of deep humanity despite his best efforts not to. That he didn't cheapen it afterwards with a cutting joke or sarcasm shows he knew it was truly heartfelt and something meaningful.

She's a "self sacrificing saint"......."who's life will bring her nothing but pain"......"which she will stoically wisthstand". I think House is jealous. House loves being the "Tragic Hero". The genius that makes miracles with his diagnostics....but...wounded and in pain. So dedicated that he rejects love and embraces his drug addiction to ensure his abilities to be a great diagnostician. She is also a "Tragic Hero". And at such a young age. House is thinking: "Get off my fucking turf!!!" And the motorcycle? Meh. House already bangs prostitutes, does drugs, battles authority. Does the motorcycle mean he is embracing adventure? I don't see how. We already know he does whatever he likes. The bike purchase just reinforces that.

The motorcycle influences a more conventional adventure, that is multi-faceted with speed, travel, freedom, relaxation, and so much more. It really is something that goes above and beyond the examples you provided. On top of the dangers of adventure and the dangers of being an unskilled motorcyclist, i would say he is embracing adventure, but via an avenue of danger is so comfortable with. Hence why it stays throughout the series, and the series ends with it.

Fun fact. NO they will not let you test drive any motorcycle anywhere. Wven if you have an M1 license.

Loved this clip, riiiight up until it showed him riding without gloves on. Given Hugh Laurie's an avid motorcyclist, I'm genuinely surprised he led them have him ride without gloves...

Probably wasn't him, you never see a clear shot of his face and the bike together and the way it's cut looks like it was purposeful to obscure a stunt rider, likely for insurance reasons or budget/time constraints.

@@MrDJAK777 If it's just riding a bike, they would've let High Laurie do that himself. He's a VERY experienced rider and there's no more danger involved than letting him drive a car.

@@LilyGrace95 studio insurance doesn't really care how skilled you are it's not really a factor to them. anything considered "elevated risk" is a no go as they cant afford the talent even so much as spraining an ankle if they want shooting to stay on schedule. And to them a motorcycle is elevated risk just because they aren't self supporting though I'm sure that's just the start of their issues with it. It's just easier and more cost effective to get a stunt man to do it even if not actually needed. There's a reason it's shot the way it is, they don't use shitty angles and extreme closeups for nothing.

@@MrDJAK777 I'm an actor. I know how it works, thanks. And yeah, most studios won't let an actor do STUNTS. But driving? That's different, especially if said actor is highly proficient. It's not uncommon at all for actors to do advanced driving (Freema Ageyman for example did a surprising amount of stunt driving in Dr Who back in 2007). There is literally no reason why they wouldn't let Hugh Laurie drive down a road. There's no stunt or advanced driving involved, there's no other cars unless they put them there because they'd have closed the road for filming, and he rode his bike to and from set every day. Hell, he even rode it to award shows. Plus, when an actor gets to a certain level of stardom, they can do it if they want to. Just look at Tom Cruise.

"She could outlive you" borderline asshood remark to win the argument..... it wasn't like House was deviously making fun of cancer kids, Wilson didn't have to be a glib... House was somewhat jealous of the girl for braving through impossible circumstamces and still not losing her happiness. It is mostly how we are built.. some people are positive, some aren't... people can take momentary inspiration from each other but sadly it doesn't last and their natural traits overpower them. House just kept plunging into deeper abysses through the show.
