Wow. The place is still tiny, but you've turned the interior into a functional, attractive, modern home. For your sake, I hope you can work the same magic on the exterior so it has a lot less of a 'ma & pa kettle' vibe from the curb.

When it comes to asbestos there should government grants available to help with the cost, since it was an approved product in the first place. There’s settlement for asbestos related health problems, why not asbestos related building materials and it’s costs.
@Stoffmonster4673 жыл бұрын
Here it is not really expensive to get the asbestos removed and dumped at a special place. It's cheaper than mixed household waste. It is forbidden here to cover it (only paint if the surface isn't damaged), so in any case I would get rid of it. Putting stucco on it doubles the costs for the next generation as you double the weight. I understand why it isn't done in that case - but here it would be nearly unsellable with asbestos.
@nobonesaboutit76392 жыл бұрын
@@Stoffmonster467 those shingles aren't really friable and can be removed easily by pulling the nails. The regulations are a joke and are mainly due to case chasers .

Stucco seems like a good choice for covering up the asbestos; vinyl siding would have looked horrible on such a low, somewhat wavy building. If done right the stucco can last 100 years, so the house will be set for a long time. Nice choices on the inside as well; they aren't expensive, but they don't look cheap either. Maybe the new owner will add a few ductless heat pumps, to cut back on the expensive use of the baseboard heaters, and replace the couple of loss-leader-sized windows (the ones with the short sashes) but either way, it will be a nice little house.

I have never understood demolition permit fees. There’s one town near me that charges $20,000 just like you to tear down a structure but in the next county over similar town and it’s $50. It’s really in their favor to make a cheap thing to do because the new building will have higher property taxes.

Um, see...the thing that makes asbestos tile so great for siding is that it does not expand or contract with the extremes of yearly seasonal temperatures. That asbestos shingle is exactly the same size in January as in July. Stucco does. It doesn't have to be a lot. It does, and the shingles do not. When the stucco expands in July and contacts in January, it will grind upon and powderize that asbestos, which you already said that you know is the one thing you can't do to asbestos.

On the second bedroom by the kitchen you should have put the bedroom door to open into the bedroom instead of opening into the kitchen. Then you would have a little space to put a tiny kitchen table to eat at. There is right now nowhere to eat unless you eat on s small sofa in the living room. Yes this house should have been torn down long ago.
