These maps are good in the same way Worlds.com is. They aren't made for a specific purpose, they aren't commercialised, they have no need to be qualitative. These do feel like something created by a human. No patterns, many mistakes and flaws in creation. It's a digital museum, a quest, untouched land of a map.

People still make them but they're a lot harder to find Custom maps aren't really popular like they used to be anymore, at most in community servers you can find the same 3-5 custom trade_ maps looped over and over on different servers without any of the newer ones being hosted There's one called trade_omnichamber_v2 which was released in 2019 iirc? And others released/updated in 2020 to include more stuff

@@SurrogateActivities oh yeah, I forgot people do that, love it when micspammers do that (especially at the end of a round). It's been almost a year since I last went to DFS, honestly the fun factor left when one of the moderators introduced their own version of the Contracker campaigns. I started to take this fun sever too seriously and slowly turned into a tryhard that only has fun when they win. I really wish I wasn't like this (the staff also poked fun at me always joining the side that had the better players, but I didn't take that as a joke), and I wish these rewards (special playermodels) weren't locked behind limited events (especially those behind contracts that are based on RNG. Idk if you were around for it but remember when one of the contracts for the spring 2019 event was based on winning against a certain boss in Slender? The staff discourage farming, yet some of the staff farm for contracts). I still had fun there when it was a nice friendly map or a fun dm map like dm_flood, but everyone kept voting for a Deathrun map or szf. Eventually I grew tired of it and took a break. I'll return to the server someday, but for now I need a break from it.

Theres this server called prom night dumpster baby and it used to be popular since its creation up too 2016 when I played and now the server has annoying assholes and never gets anymore than like 10 people now adays and has times where nobody gets on. It has rlly old maps that I love but the server died kinda

A common theme in these seems to be huge projects with not much thought or skill put into anything, so its really mediocre all the way through, but thats a part of the charm

Yeah. The map creator(s) would have huge and epic ideas for a unique map but they always seem to be executed poorly, or just not up to the standards of the map creator(s). But i still like these types of maps because the people (or person) who made it definitely put their heart and soul into it, and were only restricted by time, the Source engine and what it could handle, money, or other various factors. Hopefully, if TF2 ever gets ported to Source 2, we will see a lot of interesting and cool maps like these come to fruition. Or maybe a Source 2 port would kill the game, who knows lol

Facing Worlds is from Unreal Tournament 1999 a capture the flag mode. I think 2fort and facing worlds are look little bit same, it's just that Red and Blu bases are bigger than Unreal Tournament Red and Blue it's just big two towers floating near the Earth.

GOD DAMN THE MEMORIES I GOT FROM THIS COMMENT 😭😭 Everything you described is why i loved tf2. I was never a big fan of going on casual or competitive servers and killing people for badges or whatever, i just wanted to go on trade servers (even if i was broke) and just take a look at the cool maps they had. Part of me really wants to go back to tf2 to relive those moments, but i made a bunch of financially retarded mistakes via the steam market and everytime i look at the game in my library, i get physically depressed and remember that i could have spent 60 dollars on games rather than overpaying for a shitty ass unusual taunt lmaoo

Honestly, for what it is, this map is actually kinda quaint in its own right. If you look past the horrible mapping decision of putting the map in the skybox, as well as the cringier aspects of the map, it's a really nice map for a casual hangout Edit: if it were ported over to Gmod, fix the elevators, cannon, infinite ball track, and the teleporters along that secret path it would be really interesting.
