That scaffolding area in wacky_races makes a good sniping perch! The cannon that doesn't seem to do anything actually instantly kills anyone below the rocks near the silo.

Fucking loved ballon race. Balloon race v1 was pretty basic, but v2 had ways so teams could catch up by taking short cuts if the other team was ahead, so part of the tactics was getting your team off the thing so you could skip the first and longest corner. Also spamming the explosive flair gun thing was my fav cos if you hit someone near the egde they would die 100%

I'm dead serious when I say Balloon Race is maybe the most nostalgic map for me, even more than official maps. I think it was the first map I saw someone else play, and all elementary school me could think was "I need to play this NOW"

these where maps that i played a ton trying to get the trucks and balloons to the point :) And the version of balloon_race is a newer one than that i played we didnt have the arrows and the covered hallways its was all open :)

I really loved the Wacky Races map, I hardly got to play it though, i've just not really seen any servers run it. I probably only even played it with people like three times in 2016 but I still just absolutely love it and really wish I could find more servers to play on it with an active community. Balloon Race has always been up there for me to, but I think that's a lot more common to come by so we all get how stupidly fun it is by now.

Man, I miss custom TF2 maps. There was a payload map I used to LOVE that was based off of Donkey Kong (the 1981 original) and the cart was a giant 8 bit Mario. Shame matchmaking killed all those servers up and the only things left are gimmick servers.
