Rhaenys was there to defend the keep, so she did. Then she almost defeated Vhagar and tried to finish the job, because that's not an opportunity to waste, and she was also scanning the battlefield to see if there were still troops advancing to kill. I keep seeing people call her decision stupid, but that's only true if your goal is only survival and you ignore the fact that you are currently in a war and have a mission.

Aemond was not intending to kill anyone at the end of Ep. 4. We see him walk towards the fallen dragon with his sword in hand and he starts sheathing it back just before Cole calls to him. He was only being careful while walking alone.

Now that the season is finished you absolutely correct. They need each season to be 10 full episodes so they can pace it correctly (3 episodes for intro, 3 for setup/setback, 3 for climax and 1 for finale). It feels like some Studio exec dickhead muddied up the season with commitee interference or something.

All they had to do was transfer the perfect story written in the book to the series and two idiots named Ryan and Sara thought they were better writers than GRRM and ruined all the characters and what could have been a perfect series. I'm just waiting for the war in god's eye and then I'll be off this shit show for good

@@4xe_wx I think that's a little harsh, the season wasn't bad they just got the budget cut out from under them and had to move the last 2 episodes from this season to the next one. It screwed up the pacing too, Daemon spent the whole season on a salvia trip. HBO executive meddling. The writing has been pretty good over all with a few missteps, they even made changes in the first season that GRRM said were improvements over his version.

@@Fangtorn the only eventful things were Meleys vs sunfyre and vhagar and the bastards claiming dragons. Thats about it. Everything else was dragged out too long. Like Daemons harrenhal ark and alicents directionless story. Rhaenyra trying to aim for peace even tho she clearly had a vengeful look at the end of season 1 and even demanding the head Aemond. But next episode she visits alicent and tries to resolve it peacefully? Yeah this season was all over the place

I think it's a shame people are so impatient with the Harrenhal scenes. Daemon is being forced to confront his demons. It's crucial character development. He's basically going through ghost therapy and he's not going to be the same Daemon afterwards.
