Its unfortunate how far the writing has fallen season 1 had a bunch of weak moments but nothing like this. And yes Daemon cutting wood is the perfect summary of this episode, why is the proud dragonlord king consort chopping fucking wood.

Now that the season is finished you absolutely correct. They need each season to be 10 full episodes so they can pace it correctly (3 episodes for intro, 3 for setup/setback, 3 for climax and 1 for finale). It feels like some Studio exec dickhead muddied up the season with commitee interference or something.

I think it's a shame people are so impatient with the Harrenhal scenes. Daemon is being forced to confront his demons. It's crucial character development. He's basically going through ghost therapy and he's not going to be the same Daemon afterwards.
