You're definitely not the only one who cried don't worry. It was a fantastic episode.

Bill and Frank won the apocalypse. They met and found true love in the worst of times. They got to live a full and happy life and grow old together. And, unlike most people even today, they got to go out on their own terms, peacefully in each other's arms. I cried like I haven't cried in years watching that episode.

Has anyone noticed Bill & Frank's Anniversary & Deathiversary is coming up? August 29th 2023. Im going to cook some rabit and play Linda Rhonstad in their memory🥂 RIP Bill & Frank ❤
I liked that you immediately recognized the significance of Bill's letter to Joel. Glad you're enjoying this show =]

I love your reaction of the close up on Joel while Ellie reads that part of the letter. Pedro shows so much doing so little. Such a subtle but powerful moment.

6:30 "How did he fall there?" -- It's established earlier in his prep that he made the hole and loosely covered it with chicken wire and mud so that it was completely masked. A person steps on the chicken wire mesh+mud (now dry) cover, and falls through. Pretty basic trap that takes similar forms through history, covering a hole with leaves or grass, etc.

Hey, Pilar! Frank didn't walk into an open pit! Lol. It was a concealed, covered hole to trap stalkers and infected. This installment radically differed from the game. In the game, you never meet Frank and his relationship with Bill is open to interpretation. Joel has never met Bill before and only knows him through Tess. The sequence is action heavy starting with Joel getting ensnared by one of Bill's traps, a tense effort to push a pick-up truck into jumpstarting without attracting attention from the infected and navigating an abandoned school where you encounter a spore-spewing bloater in the gymnasium! At a garage, you find Frank's hung body with a note explaining he tried to leave because he was fed up with Bill's misanthropy but got bitten and killed himself rather than turn. Bill and Ellie are oil and water needling each other throughout. Bill urges Joel to dump her because looking after the weak is the surest way to die. The episode is the opposite in that it's character-driven, focused on the side characters, specific about their relationship and has Bill convincing Joel to protect Ellie posthumously. It works for the show with two great performances by Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett. We also get another flashback to pandemic mass executions by the military. Bill had a sweet little spread all to himself! For him, the apocalypse was paradise! Lol.

This episode made me have to go back and watch Parks and Rec. Nick Offerman (aka Bill, aka Ron Swanson) was absolutely hilarious. Seriously, after crying to this, watching episodes or clips from Parks and Rec is a great way to heal from all the crying.

I Personally feel like this is one of the most beautiful things i ever watched. The genuine love and wholesomeness felt like the first warm days in spring, or a cool water in summer. I love how they made a really enjoyable Story out of something that is barely hinted in the game, it felt so natural and im really happy that they decided to let Bill have a happy life. It was just awesome

Frank didn’t just fall in a hole. It was a joke that was disguised to look like the ground, so you wouldn’t see it.

In the beginning, Joel is not stacking rocks for fun. It's the only small memorial for Tess that he can manage. Also at 6:35, Frank didn't just fall in an obvious random hole. Minutes before, we saw Bill rigging traps and digging holes and covering them over with chickenwire and grass. Frank didn't see the trap/hole because it was camouflaged. Enjoying these reactions, thanks!

The little pile of stones at the beginning reminds me of a Cairn marking a burial site with Joel, here, probably thinking about Tess. EDIT: Coming back to this after finishing the vid, and yeah, I definitely ugly cried when I watched this alone. This episode cemented to me that The Last of Us really knows its story is about people and perseverance, honesty and connection, not about shocking events or twists. I really hope the rest of the series has more character vignettes like this. Like Pilar said, I didn't even know these people at the start of the episode, and after knowing them for 30 minutes I was crying my eyes out.

Very excited that I'm the first to get to comment this one; the window open at the end of the episode is a callback to both games. In the first one, the menu screen shows a window with greenery growing outside of it and starting to spill into the inside; in the second one, the last shot is the camera zooming in on an open window. I was already a mess of tears by the end of the episode but I shouted "FUCK YOU, NEIL AND CRAIG" at that window shot that closed out the episode. They knew what they were doing 😂

Frank took the smart way out. The producers said he had a neuromuscular disorder, and ALS is most prominent in men. ALS causes paralysis, and usually kills you from pneumonia, because your epiglotis stops functioning, and saliva drips into your lungs. If you survive that, your diaphram eventually gives out, and you slowly suffocate.

Bill is a an amazing charecter.. very different from the game... kinda..there was notes aluding to a grand and doomed romance... i like this version of bill i have tae say... was more cataclysmic if ye ken wit i mean? It meant more in terms of joels development as a protagonist; imo anyway...

If the writing for this episode doesn't win an Emmy, then the Emmy's f*cking SUCK. You skipped over some of my favorite parts, tho :( I loved it when Joel told Bill, "we can help each other and get that gun outa my face". Pedro is soooooooooooooo hot, I swear.
@TomTomson81 Жыл бұрын
Well, it seems less "dumb" to invite Frank to Bill's home after he fell into the hole, if you had listened to the conversations between Ellie and Joel beforehand. They were talking about Frank and Bill. And they were also mentioned in episodes 1 and 2. Especially Tess, that was her last wish. Joel was supposed to take Ellie to Bill and Frank. 😉 This episode had more to do with Joel's character than many realize. Even if you haven't seen him. Bill and Joel are both bitter and alone. However, the development of Bill clearly showed the differences, as one of them was willing to let a person into his life. As a result, despite the almost similar mindsets at the beginning, Bill got a long full and happy life. Joel, on the other hand, is stuck. So yes, the episode was important and not just because of the farewell letter at the end. It showed that there is hope, even if Joel doesn't have one yet. This episode showed that people are important to be happy. We are usually herd animals. The parallel to the infected is Frank here in this episode. The head is clear, but his multiple sclerosis or ALS (probably) has control over his body. The infected are at least partly aware of their actions, at least in the first stage. In the game, they even cry. They also cry while eating their friends. And through this episode we also know that Tess and Joel have known each other for more than 13 years and that they were still "decent" people 7 years after the outbreak. At least that's what Joel says to Bill here. But that is doubtful. Tess told Ellie that they weren't good people and just before her death she told Joel to do all the shit they did right.

6:33 Come on... you can't be this oblivious. First it was asking if Joel blamed Ellie, when OBVIOUSLY he was, but then you completely missed the part where Bill was setting up his traps, covering holes with chicken wire and dirt. But even if the show runners didn't explicitly show him setting up that trap, you can't tell me you SERIOUSLY thought a grown man just walked into an open hole?... COME ON, IT WAS CLEALY A TRAP. Obviously it was covered and camouflaged to look like normal ground so that people/infected would step into it. Jesus Christ
