My fellow Team Black friends I am STILL TEAM RHAENYRA!!!! Dang I criticize her once and y’all are unsubscribing 😂😂 she’s my ride or die but I can disagree with her means of getting to an end / trapping a bunch of innocent folks in the Dragon Pit to die!

Rhaenyra - "some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make" Silverwing is known as one of the most docile, chill dragons ever. Also the Oscar Tully/Daemon scene was so good

Rhaenyra cant win with a army because until now she didnt have any. She had dragons. And she had to find riders for them to not lose the war and die.Its that simple. She didnt force anyone to do anything. They all were there because they wanted to and they all knew that they probably would die.

Rhaenyra is starting to believe in targeryan fanaticism and the idea that targeryans are “gods”. In the post episode interview, the show runner ryan condol said something to the effect of it’s very much like a cult leader with their flock, when rhaenyra was speaking to the bastards before taking them to the dragon.
@Melodicroger3 ай бұрын
I love the discussion of how Rhaenyra’s moral ambiguity-these shows do work in that space. Her actions were born out of selfishness, desperation and survival. She got a short term favorable result but at a high cost.
@GingerMT-o4m3 ай бұрын
I don’t begrudge Damon going through what he’s gone through and Harrenhal to get to where he is now he does not want the crown. He will support Rhaenyra fully, and he no longer wants it for himself. That is something he needed to learn if it took us a little while with his dreams and visions it here in all so be it

The biggest problem i had w/ rhaneyra this episode was when the guards forced the bastards to stay on the platform instead of letting them escape the dragon and flee to possible safety. Forcing them all to stay and get a dragon or die is a big turning point to me. Never has rhaenyra overseen so many innocents burning and dying like she did in this episode.

She is using the bastards for her own gain but she didn't force anyone to get on those boats, they all got on by themselves looking to elevate themselves....Also, would she really need to warn those people that a dragon is dangerous? haha...also I hope this isn't a spoiler but they changed this for the show...in the Book it was Jace's idea to try and get random people/bastards for dragons....I don't know why they changed that...
@CatherineLaSalle3 ай бұрын
Hmmmmm that’s a very interesting plot point for them to tweak, especially since I think this is a pivotal turning point for his character
@d4rkoce4n483 ай бұрын
They did it because they needed money, like Hugh's situation, like when a rich person comes and exploits people's poverty for his own interests, even if it harms the poor. Finally, we understand from this behavior that it does not mean that the Black Team are good and the Green Team are evil, but rather that they all have an evil side.
@ak144593 ай бұрын
she did force them to stay on that platform though, through her guards that wouldn’t let them leave.

Jace did suggest the idea on the show. He thought his mom was only going to go for highborn and not think to look for any and everybody with Targaryen blood. He was upset because Mysaria (who doesn't particularly like) suggested she look to the lowborn and just like these lowborn Targaryen's, Jace is a bastard. He feels, and he's right, that any Targaryen bastard whether they have a dragon or can muster an army can lay their legitimacy to be king or queen.
@Murder_343 ай бұрын
@@antoniochasten3192 Book Jace offered Knighthood and lands to any Dragonseed, Targaryen bastard or their descendants, not just highborn…so him being against it in the show is not like in the book…maybe I worded it wrong, I meant it was his idea to go for anyone high or lowborn

@@CatherineLaSalle It's like what Cersei said, "When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground." The main players on the show are morally complex. Some are more manipulative than others like Otto Hightower and Larys Strong but they all are playing the game.

sure, the people weren’t forced to go on the boats, but they very much were in a desperate situation and were also stopped from escaping the dragonpit- and both emma and the showrunner have described the scene as a ritual sacrifice
@CatherineLaSalle3 ай бұрын
YESSS I didn’t notice that until my rewatch because there was SO much carnage happening, but they were trapping those poor folks in there refusing to let them leave!! I feel like Rhaenyra left that critical detail out of her pep talk, “By the way we’re locking you in”

OK I hear what you're saying but here's the thing. i) Rhaenyra has to do something otherwise Aemond and Aegon would just kill her and her kids. ii) The whole point of this season's story line with Daemon was that those who want the crown deserve it the least. So by that logic Jace does not deserve to wear the crown. The only point he made that I agree with is what if one of them with the bigger dragon betrays you? That to me sounds like foreshadowing.. but we'll see.. Rhaenyra has no choice with Aemond so willing to use his dragon every chance he gets, she needs to even the odds iii) She did not manipulate or force anyone to come.. they all came there knowing the risk.. the dragon either chooses you as a rider or a snack.. and lastly Cole is lil p-word.. I don't blame whatever he is or turned into on the Queen..

^agreed on Jace’s warnings about giving newfound power to some of these folks who are literal STRANGERS to them and their family…especially if some of those folks realize or argue that they might have the better claim to the throne. I haven't been on the Daemon hype train since s1 ep 5 when he murdered his wife in the Vale. He could die next ep and it would be deserved. That being said, he is entertaining and will watch his shenanigans till the day comes. He has charisma but no leadership skills. He thinks as long as he's a prince and he can charm, people will do anything he wants. Learning his lesson with the river lords.

@@CatherineLaSalle I love it. Daemon has been riding the guilt train since he's been at Harrehall and it's great. I love to see Millie and Paddy back in their roles and Daemon reliving some of his worst moments with them. This was all about him learning that he hasn't been a good brother and a good uncle husband. He needed these lessons and got them in the form of Weirwood visions. Good character development and he was so rock bottom and in need that he had to swallow his pride and ego to accept the Riverlands swords.

@@CatherineLaSalle haha XD Also, this whole mess started because everyone wanted to avoid Daemond sitting the throne, no one wanted another Maegor the cruel. It's the only reason why Rheanyra was named heir when her father gave up having boys; just to avoid Daemond. Hell! Otto was the one who suggested naming her heir for just that.. then she went on to sleep with him in public and then married him, making King Consort out of the one person the realm welcomed her as heir just to avoid XD I am not against freedom, I really am not; It's just I wouldn't expect pay if I practiced my freedom of not going to work.
