Omg, the "I'll bring you sheep" comment had me rolling. There's a character in the books that the writers of the show seem to have written out of the series in favour of Laena. This VERY IMPORTANT girl brings sheep to this ugly brown slender dragon to tame it and eventually does.

Thr person who fits Hugh description seems to be Saera Targaryen, the rebellious and promiscuos daughter of the late king Jaeharys. She was aunt of Daemon and Viserys, which makes Hugh their bastard cousin.

Hugh's mother was Saera Targaryen, scandalous wild-child daughter of King Jaehaerys. She was Viserys and Daemon's aunt, was eventually estranged from the family, and ran off to Essos where she became a political power player in the city of Lys and later Volantis.

Oscar knew he had Daemon by the balls and he couldn't do a thing about it. I also believe Daemon kept quiet when Oscar was roasting him, because deep down, he deserves it. Simon Strong kept watching Daemon expecting him to explode in a fury but he never did. He's learning, he learning that leadership is a heavy burden that weighs you down like Viserys told him.

I like that you mentioned Seasmoke liking handsome dudes. I haven't read the book but I have read a number of comments that leave me concluding that being accepted by a dragon has a great deal to do with your personality. Vermithor is known to be a big, strong, WILLFULL dragon that can be stubborn and hard to control. Hugh the Hammer is named that for a reason. Knocking folks out for carrots and bucking others wishes to do his thing. Seasmoke has been flying around alone and restless. Just waiting for a rider. Addam is lonely and restless, just waiting to see what he is meant for. Silverwing is known as the most laid back, chummy dragon we have seen. She doesnt get angry easily, and can be hard to spur into action. She also plays with not only hers but other dragons riders. The way she rolled Ulf around like a soccerball was a game. Ulf was the most popular guy in the room everytime we saw him. He never drops that playful smile except for a few times for good reason. Im sure the dragons that were placed in Targaryan cribs with babies also sync very well with the riders as they both grow together.

Vermithor was king jahaerys's dragon. And hugh is the grandson of king jaharyes. Hughs mother was saera targryen sister to baelon who was viserys and daemons father. Ulf is a bastard song to baelon making ulf the half brother to viserys and daemon. Which makes ulf daemon and viserys all 1st cousins to hugh.

Jace is actually right. Commoners should never have been allowed to claim dragons. It's beyond stupidity handing the equivalent of nuclear weapons to people who have no absolute loyalty to you.

I do not like what they did with Jacaerys because this is NOT who he was in book - yes, he makes some good points to Rhaenyra in this episode but that is NOT whom he was. Book Jacaerys was complete opposite, he was ALL for bastards on dragons, it was Rhaenyra who was distrustful, not him! It was Rhaenyra who insulted one girl who tried to claim dragon because of her lowborn heritage, not Jacarys. Rhaenyra did not participate at all in Dragonseeds thing, it was all Jacaerys. He also welcomed Alyn and Addam into family with open arms, not with distrust on face. Jacaerys's bastardy in book was more ambigous (Velaryons were white and Laenor's mother had dark hair), but rumors were present nonetheless, Greens were taunting him and I always thought Jacaerys was so supportive of other bastards to show that it is ability and graceful character that makes someone worthy, not paternity. Book Jace wanted to tell world: "Maybe I am bastard, maybe I am not - and so what? I will show you strength of actual bastards and you all will be sorry you ever underestimated both me and them!!! Dragons are gods and do not care, why do you people care?!" 🐲🐲🖤🖤🖤🖤🔥🔥 I wanted to see THAT Jacaerys, that noble, brave and open minded Prince who is unapologetic about his look 🧑🏻 and gonna make the best of it, not is ashamed of this. 😭😭💔💔

Whilst it would be nice to have had 10 episodes a season, I suspect HBO are eeking out the series so that it runs for longer and also to keep the budget down. 15 episodes would be way too expensive a commitment, especially if ratings dropped. Shows are so often cancelled these days, 10 episodes or less is the norm. I've seen people complaining that this season is too slow. I like it's pacing. We don't want any Game of Thrones latter seasons sprinting towards the finish line.

I think it's not a good idea to give ordenary people superpowers who previously had none. It is even less good to give power to people who have suffered before. The danger is much greater that they will now take what they want and think that they are entitled to it now. Do we really think that Hugh is honorable? Previous episode has shown that he is not. He knocked down a man to get his food instead of going to the beach himself. And here, too, he is driven by the desire to gain power, even if his wife did not wishes for it. A man who was ashamed of his mother all his life, turned away from her to build a life for himself, but this did not correspond to his ideas. A man who thinks he is a failure to his wife and now dead daughter. I think this man is dangerous. I think he has a mercenary mentality and if he doesn't get what he wants, he looks where he gets it. I think the potential for betrayal is very high with him, but I can also be wrong. And did he really save the woman's life here or just wanted to prevent the dragon from bonding with her? Because the dragon stood relatively calmly opposite the woman, he did not attack her. He then drew attention to himself. Also interrupted a possible bonding moment. Hugh has selfish ambitions. His goal is first and foremost to give his wife and himself a better life and feels more committed to this than Rhaenyra and the realm. In contrast to this is Addam, who immediately got down on his knees and swore allegiance to Rhaenyra and the realm and immediately turned his back on his old life. I think Ulf had it so easy with Silverwing because he took on the smell of Silverwing's children from kicking in the eggs. She accepted him more as one of her children. And of course it was intentional to fly from Ulf over King's Landing. Who gave Ulf the saddle for Silverwing? It had to be on it first. Ammond was lured to see the superiority of Rhaenyra. Their goal is still to end everything without bloodshed. This was intimidation in the hope that the other side would give up. Alicent's excursion can be seen very metaphorically. She goes into the forest to shed her greenery and is still surrounded by greenery through the forest. No escape.
