I’m not a book reader but why did they introduce the scorpion as a Qyburn invention in GOT just to see it used 200 years prior in the Dance with Dragons?

I think cause dragons were gone so long at that point. That some people forgot what they used? So when Qyburn brought it out it was like a revelation to Cersei… I think

Qyburn didn’t jnvent it. He discovered some old info about the scorpions and did his best to replicate it

Corlys doesn't die during the war, principally because Rhaenyrs puts him in prison at the Red Keep when she is briefly on the throne and suspects he's been treasonous. By this time Rhaenys has perished in the war.
