@@pajamaparty01 Actually I feel like this is a bit of a nod to the books this series is based on since you get multiple perspectives in it, each with their own bias. The show is, I believe, technically supposed to be the true events. For example, in the books you get second or even third hand accounts of what happened between Aemond and Lucerys over Storm's End. In the show we get to see it happen ourselves. And ultimately the anti-war message should be loud and clear. Neither side wanted war, a reckless mistake ended up kicking it off, and when it's all over the downfall of the Targaryens will have begun.

It's so fascinating how, despite the black and green marketing, the actual content of the trailers is so... ideologically consistent. Alicent is descending into depression (and possible suicide) and verbalizing that the conventions she served all her life were pointless and her life was ruined for nothing, while Rhaenyra "i fear what i have begun" seems to have realized (too late) that the war cant be stopped now....

The funny thing is Rhaenyra should have been expecting this from the jump. The world they live in declared that she’d be challenged eventually even if it hadn’t come from Otto and Alicent. The lords and ladies when presented with an opportunity to alter their universe chose Viserys over Rhaenys. And Princess Rhaenys told her the cold hard reality in episode 2… “Men would sooner put the realm to the torch than see a woman ascend the iron throne.”

Yes, no one wins this war. I like that they made both women more likeable/relatable than in the book (but still highly flawed), but I also think it will make a good story to watch them descend farther into cruelty and destruction, especially Rhaenyra.

Personally my favorite bit in the Green Trailer was the brief shot of a Bracken about to take on a few Blackwoods. No matter the century, no matter which ass is on the Iron Throne, the Blackwoods and Brackens will always be at each others' throats and I'm here for the drama. As a Blackwood supporter I'm particularly looking forward to HOTD adapting a few of their members, as well as the upcoming "Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" show when a few Blackwood affiliated characters take a prominent role ("How Many Eyes Does Lord Bloodraven Have?")

@@suraj5969 - In ancient times they both claim to be kings of their region of the Riverlands with the other being rebellious lords. - They regularly go to war with one another over the smallest of things - Both Houses helped Aegon the Conqueror take over the Riverlands only to immediately go back to fighting each other. - They fought for different sides during the Dance of Dragons (as will be seen on this show). - A few decades after this show, two women from each House will become the mistresses of Aegon the Fourth (often said to be one of the worst Targaryen kings) and give birth to two infamous Targaryen bastards (Aegor "Bittersteel" Rivers and Brynden "Bloodraven" Rivers). The consequences of these women and their sons will be shown in the upcoming show "A Knight of the 7 Kingdoms". - In the main series, both Houses fought for Robb Stark but after the Red Wedding the Brackens quickly swore allegiance to the Lannisters again while the Blackwoods were the last Stark loyalist house to surrender (only surrendering to Jaime to deny the Brackens the privilege)

S2 is going to pick up very close to the height of Green power/"justification," so I wonder how closely this will hew to F&B and what, if any, additional work goes in to justifying seating Aegon as opposed to consenting to Rhaenyra as the presumptive heir.

My previous KZbin name and photo before Batman was of Daemon Targaryen, so it’s obvious which side I’m on. I bought a Team Daemon hat from Redbubble although I find it a tad too small. I prefer my House Targaryen sigil hat from New Era much more but I am wearing my Team Daemon hat today. Regarding the HOT D trailers, where is Roddy the Ruin? He’s a minor character on Team Black but he goes out like a badass!! I think Cregan Stark will be a fan favorite once more people get to see him. And we can see the Cargyll twins fighting. Will Daemon ever get his long straight hair back or is Ewan Mitchell permanently going to use that wig for Aemond? We got a lot on our plates coming up. We got to see The Crow trailer, The Acolyte trailer, Furiosa trailer, and the new Alien trailer recently. Now we got HOT D and Beetlejuice 2x. We got the new Ghostbusters this week which I’m seeing later today next to Dune 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4. We’ll get Godzilla x Kong next week. That’s a lot of content to see. I finally got the original Xbox games to play on my Steam Deck while I’m also playing Final Fantasy VII Remake and saw the part the other day when Cloud had to dress up as a girl. Man, they really went over-the-top on that. I can’t find time to see all of these new trailers right now. So many video games to play mixed with watching new movies and TV shows. Speaking of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the OG FF7 fans sorta sees FF7R as it’s own thing operating in a different universe. I believe that’s how GRRM book fans treats these HBO shows. It’s not necessarily canon in their minds but they’ll still watch it because they’re curious how well it translates for live action. Fire & Blood only covers a few chapters of the Dance. So writers have to add stuff the same way Tetsuya Nomura and Co. had to pad the first disc of the original FF7 and turn into 30-50 hours of gameplay. HBO writers are adding things like Rhaenys mass murdering innocent people and Daemon choking Rhaenyra when those never happened in GRRM’s book. Great year! Loving all this new stuff we’re getting. We just got a Penguin trailer yesterday. Loki, House of the Dragon, and Andor are my three favorite series since Game of Thrones last aired in 2019. HOT D S2 is my anticipated for this year. Given the vast difference in popularity from the two trailers (views,etc) and the two "sides" in general (the Blacks are clearly the fan favourites) I truly do wonder how the general audience will react to the ending of this show give it is quite similar to the ending of the first show. I guess I should give the general audience the benefit of the doubt that they understand this is not a story with any actual good sides and that no one "wins" at the end, but once the fan favourites start getting butchered ... I dunno, just something that interests me. ***MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING AHEAD***: Ending the show with the "Dragon Queen" betrayed, deposed and unceremoniously killed and putting in her place a depressed kid/teen nicknamed "the Broken" twice over ... It's a great ending for this story, but having it again after the mess of the last one ... who knows. (Let the record show that I do think King Bran is also going to happen in the books, but obviously not to the horrendous way they did his character in the last 2 seasons)

Fire and blood is a book that exists within the ASOIAF universe. A history book of the Targaryen dynasty. It was written by Archmaester Gyldayn using source from three narrators, who all are unreliable in different ways. Mushroom the fool, who likes to spread rumors, Septon Eustace and Grand Maester Orwyle, who are very much anti-Targaryen, so they were in favor of Aegon II, because Oldtown was once a great city, and still holds the Citadel and it was the home of the Faith of the Seven. So, it’s very biased, but written in a way that you can see through their propaganda. The book starts from the conquest and ends a bit after the dance. It’s supposed to have a second volume to cover the rest up to the Mad King and Robert’s rebellion, but I have no idea if GRRM plans to write it. It isn’t telling of two families. Alicent (and the Hightowers) is not a protagonist, far from it. Rhaenyra is, and Aegon is her antagonist (in the dance chapters, of course). Alicent in the books is just important to set up the dance, because after that she doesn’t do much. The whole friendship and betrayal is not a thing either. Alicent is 8-9 years older than Rhaenyra, who was a child when her mother died and she was named heir. Viserys and Alicent married for love as far as we can tell, but he never named Aegon as his heir, which makes her begin to dislike Rhaenyra. They never really got along. The usurpation occurs and Rhaenyra was willing to negotiate, keep her half- siblings alive if they gave her the throne, but Aegon grew fond of the power. They were still negotiating when Aemond killed Lucerys, which then starts the war. The dance is a little messy. I’m sure George just wanted to get rid of the dragons and shit. I mean, it’s a narrative to support Daenerys’s journey in the main series. The choose a side bit is all HBO marketing. It’s good marketing, but the adaptation already has major problems (especially regarding the ages that are all messed up lmao). Alicent is younger than she was, Rhaenyra is older, the kids ages are all a mess. Alicent has a son missing (Daeron, who so far had no casting news so he probably was cut, which is a problem bc he is a bit part of the green efforts in the war). Daemon and Rhaenyra’s youngest boys are too young. They fucked up the timeline real bad. Even the ages they claim some characters to be are impossible for them to have with the time that passed. Messy, messy writing. One of the guys are fired from s1 and rumors that George had to help rewrite s2 after all the backlash s1 got. I have no idea how they could mess up this bad, bc the dance is a complete story, so they don’t have the same problem they had with GOT.

It was a necessity given the chronology of the F&B story. Rhaenyra was slighted and her presumptive throne was outright stolen -- there's just no denying that basic fact, no matter if the Greens felt it was justified out of either conservative/orthodox belief or just naked greed. S2 will have to spend a lot of time and energy on cultivating a rationale for why their behavior was justifiable if Condal et al. want to continue telling a story of a war where neither side has a moral claim. Given how Rhaenyra parks at Dragonstone for so much of the "middle" part of the story, I expect we get a lot of King's Landing and exploration into why the Greens felt justified seating Aegon, and not just for current power but hope for a brighter future (which...)
