Heheheh right on! I was thinking some acoustic sealant (high modulus) then crown molding.

mum had a worse situation, all roof trusses were built wrong the sag was HUGE . atleast youve got equipment to hold it

@@closertothetruth9209 oh man so the roof was sagging because of the trusses? I just told Mary that I hope this doesn't telegraph to the roofline but really it's not much so fingers crossed

They have adjustable support beams, you just turn it up or down to desired height. Just get the proper weight support heavy duty ones.

Not sure that it will work for you but I'm putting cabin boards on my walls the earthquakes here to cracks the sheetrock

Great minds think alike! I was thinking a little acoustic sealant, then crown molding. Thought about the shiplap for a bathroom wall to avoid finishing the drywall!

Cheap steel. Need about 37 pound steel or more to have no deflection in 13 to 15 feet.

@SolarDrew possible. I have 45lb steel spanning 13.5 ft in may basement which should be overkill. Knock on wood but never had an issue

@@jklivinlife the part where it's most noticable is almost directly above the post so I don't think there's room for beam sag but then the post is on a footer and the basement floor isn't cracked so not sure if that's what sunk.... I guess time will tell!

It’s more likely truss lift
@SolarDrew8 күн бұрын
@@kenfraser570 dude! I didn't even know this is a thing. I just told a few friends about my theory that my roof is lifting the walls since the wall is crumpling near the floor when jacking. Super interesting that you mention this. My thought is my metal roof contracts and pulls the trusses. What's your thoughts?
@kenfraser5708 күн бұрын
@ I have seen it many times where the trusses are not attached to the wall segments with hurricane ties for example, this can cause a separation between the wall and ceiling board. Was a common problem in modular structures.
@edmessina83927 күн бұрын
Agree and it's seasonal. I definitely would not attempt lifting that any further as it will put an unwanted stress on the bottom chord of the roof trusses. Truss lift, also known as truss arching, is a phenomenon that occurs when the bottom chords of roof trusses bow upwards. This can cause ceiling issues, especially in homes with long truss spans. Drew, you also should weld the top flange of your posts in the basement to the bottom flange of the I beam. The bent over tabs are not sufficient enough to prevent side to side movement particularly if your area experiences any seismic activity. You dont need a full bead, a few decent spot welds should be plenty.

@@edmessina8392 Fantastic! Yep, my trusses are LONG! like 52' long where they span from the back of the house over to the front of the porch. Thanks for taking the time to inform me! I will weld them!
