As a contractor, a couple of observations or additions to this well done concise video: 1) Don't use clear silicon. You can't see it and DIY's never wipe it completely clean in visible areas. In 6 months the result is silicon (in visible areas) full of dust and dirt that does not clean well, it only flakes off. Silicon also has a different sheen if you paint it that becomes very visible after ageing. Take the extra time to COMPLETELY wipe off silicon caulking in visible/paintable areas, you will be glad you did. 2) The type of hangers used here force the drip edge out too far when tucking gutter underneath (metal gutters only). Not really covered in this well-done concise video. I have had better success with ferrule type hangers. Everything lays flush when tucked under drip edge, although they are a bit harder to install. 3) Overlap and use grinder metal cut-off wheel just like video. I use my (10 y/o) $15 Harbor Freight grinder for everything. I get lots of laugh on my job sites at the things I use it on. I have notched 2x4's before. LOL. Be careful of heat and sparks, of course, it is an abrasive type tool. It is well worth it if you don't have one. Metal shears always leave artifact on corners etc. and should be filled down. 4) Galvanized self-tapping metal screws work excellent if you do not have rivet tool. This eliminates the pre drilling of holes..

Great Video, very imformative and simple to follow. I did the task with only one F Bomb... When cutting the top for the two pieces to fit together, YOU F bombed... You should cut the top to the gutter going towards the slope, so that the cut is INSIDE the gutter. You left the cut line on the outside and riveted together. I realized the mistake after I made the cut, so one gutter is kinda an eye sore and the other is perfect. I appreciate your video, I feel like a pro now.

well done, explained in brief yet clear manner. I especially appreciated his recommendation of using lap joints rather than the available joint sections which as he pointed out are harder to seal.

BTW, If my memory is correct from a project years back, you can hide that ugly cut edge on the overlap by sliding the cut edge inside the other section. You just have to be aware of getting the overlap with the direction of water flow. But this is a great tip for those who have not tried this, gutter is much more stable without the crappy factory connector. Save money on connectors and do it the way he shows.
