To answer the question as how. The rack is grounded to the inner wall. So the voltage produced by the microwaves is not allowed to build up instead of the opposite happening when you say isolate a fork in the middle of the microwave.

@angelamazakas2624

lzeph yeah apparently if it weren't for domestic cats, we would be overrun with rats, with 1 for every sq. foot. Cats are in the top 5 of predators with the highest success in catching prey, with well fed cats catching even more rodents, as they do it for sport. Domestic cats really are a blessing!

Absolutely. We have two living indoors and two outdoors (the ones outside don't want to come in even though we've invited them) - so we have pest control inside and out. Better still, they're just really good companions.

I have had success filling a spray bottle with distilled water and adding two tsp of peppermint extract from my kitchen. It repels rodent, ants and scorpions. I also use Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Lavender Air Freshener with it's natural oils, works wonders to keep both scorpions and centipedes away at night (a must in Texas) as well as other pests. The best thing about using natural oils is that you can split the bottle into two and add distilled water and the potency is just as effective; making it much cheaper and safer to repel desert pests.

I LOVE these DIY dups for ASTV products!! You are brilliant. Please keep doing these. I only miss the catch phrase, "but wait, there's more!" I can think of one seemingly useless item that was once featured on Shark Tank, a plastic rectangular pan that fit a package of ramen noodles inside. Shockingly, the inventor ended up selling boatloads of these, mostly appealing to college students and millennials, from which he made a fortune. Seriously. Still, it's more utilitarian than a Pet Rock. I have already been using a mini CorningWare casserole dish (it has both glass & plastic lids) to place the dry noodles inside, which fit perfectly. One could pour hot water from a tea kettle, electric kettle, or automatic coffee pot maker, and cover the container while the ramen cooked. Using tinfoil would work just as well. I have glass containers with vented lids, from the 99¢ store, that would do the trick. Even easier is using the plastic rectangular container that lunch meat is sold in. Add water, nuke it with the lid unsecured, and the ramen is cooked. I make my own seasoning packets, because the prepackaged kind have MSG ingredients. I buy the little plastic ziploc baggies found in the craft & pill holder sections of the big box store to make individual serving sizes. I toss in some chopped fresh/canned veggies/herbs, or tiny shrimp, shredded cheese, leftovers, use broth or milk instead of water, scramble in an egg & bacon bits, etc. I've heard there are a multitude of ramen recipes online.

There was a café in Friday Harbor that scrambled eggs in a mug and then steamed with their espresso maker. Best fluffiest eggs I've ever had.

The twist tie drain unclogger can be reused as well. Because the small slits are all cut on a downward angle, simply holding it at the tip and wiping it off will clean out the residue.

I did the egg thing some 17 years ago when I was 18. Coffee mug and plastic wrap with a small hole from steak knife. Worked good.

I love this! Very cool. Made me make scrambled eggs. I enjoy making it out of a mug but timing can be hard.
