The entire series put in one sentence: _"They're the arrogant jerks who saved your life"_
@nostalji932 жыл бұрын
I mean he isnt that arrogant is he? Sure a little snarky here and there, but mostly because he actually knows better. House gets understandbly frustrated from untangling all the hypocritical bs people tell him, so he can do his job. House is portrayed as very disagreeable and rude, but I am not sure about arrogant. His lack of patience is convincingly explained by his chronic pain and drug abuse. Which also explains the lack of respect for personal boundries.

@@nostalji93 i mean he kinda is, the reason i stopped watching dr. House Was because i started thinking, "what would i do in the place of the relatives". Most of the time they agree at the beginning to a lot what house recommends and when its not working, or getting worse they start to have doubts about his competence, wich is very much understandable. And i myself have to say i macht have stopped trusting him at one point, even if he comes up with the right solution, trust is sarce and can run out when lives of loved ones are in danger. Espacially since you dont know their track records, since everything is confidential. He does put extreme emotional pressure on the relatives.

I had a book when I was a kid called "6 Deadly Medical Mysteries" or something (it was a Scholastic book from the book ordering catalogues we used to get at school). They were all true stories of medical cases, including the discovery of Lyme Disease, Legionnaire's Syndrome, and even the Love Canal toxic dump story (similar to Erin Brockovich/PG&E incident). This story about the poisoned pants was in there, but the difference was the pants were bought at a flea market, by two different families on opposite sides of town. Each boy went to school wearing the pants and started vomiting and showing signs of poisoning. Kids got taken to two different hospitals, changed into hospital gowns (as typical), and symptoms disappeared, so they were discharged. After putting clothes back on and going home, symptoms suddenly start up again. After a couple cycles of this, one hospital called the other for a consult and discovered they had identical cases. At that point they started looking at commonalities and eventually arrived at the pants. Calling down the road to other places the flea market went they found more cases. Eventually caught up to the guy with the pants and discovered pesticides transported in the same truck had spilled over and soaked the stack of pants. Never thought that 20 years later I'd see the same (similar) story on a primetime tv drama.

@megasora42 жыл бұрын
as arctrog said, chase planned it without houses knowing. (not that its said in the show, its more based on what we know about house and his flair for the dramatics) as house was entirely honest with the mother, his face during the call shows that he did figure it out by the end of the call, but also knew that was the exact answer she was going to get if it was real. House was trying to guilt her by sitting in plain view with the medicine that could (and would) save his sons life while being completely honest with her. as time ticked, she would have probably fell for it eventually, but by then it could have been too late. then she would have been more guilt ridden seeing that the meds sitting in plain view were indeed the right cure this time. probably ending in things that are against youtube's TOS.

"Arrogant Jerks That Saved Your Life". I've met this sort of person. Ungrateful, inhumane sociopaths.

I saw that happen as a kid my uncle was a doctor and he got 0 appreciation " cause its his job" and therefore he was required to do it and he just walked out of this crippled woman's room and told her she could crawl her way out since she was feeling so much better

Don't know why House resonates with me so much - perhaps it's because my grandfather tended to be sarcastic, sharp-tongued at times, but one of the smartest guys in my life. He could cut you down to size, but had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.
